Policies and strategies for the construction of flats have been launched in various cities, one of which is in Pontianak which is intended for the general public and students. One of the Rusunawa in Pontianak is the Tanjungpura University Flat which is rented out for students which was built in 2009. Based on this, it is necessary to carry out a Post-Work Evaluation of the building that has been used for some time. This study aims to identify and evaluate the Rusunawa building of Tanjungpura University in terms of functional aspects and its application in design solutions. The research approach used is qualitative and quantitative research. The research method used is spatial syntax and place-centred mapping. The results showed that the results of connectivity analysis in spatial syntax showed low values in the drying room and kitchen area and integration analysis on spatial syntax showed low values in building circulation areas 1, 2, 3, and 4. Place centered mapping data showed activity. That residents routinely do on the building. This indicates a change in the function of space and affects the dimensions of space. The post-occupancy evaluation shows a change in the function of space, access to circulation, and the dimensions of space in the building. Based on the results of post-occupancy analysis and evaluation, the design proposal also focuses on variables with functional aspects, namely circulation, dimensions, flexibility and changes in space function.

This present study comes to investigate teachers' views on what constitutes teacher professionalism and whether these views are influenced by gender, age, educational level and teaching experience. Both a qualitative and a quantitative research approach were chosen. Three teachers were interviewed, whereas 83 teachers completed the questionnaire. According to the findings, professionalism is related to the teacher's knowledge, personal and interpersonal skills. In addition, a large proportion of participants associate professionalism with mastering basic communication skills, developing problem-solving strategies and utilizing appropriate teaching methods. Finally, emphasis is put on developing a culture of collaboration between colleagues and between teachers and parents.

A quarter century ago, in 1987, Charles C. Ragin published The Comparative Method, introducing a new method to the social sciences called Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). QCA is a comparative case-oriented research approach and collection of techniques based on set theory and Boolean algebra, which aims to combine some of the strengths of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Since its launch in 1987, QCA has been applied extensively in the social sciences. This review essay first sketches the origins of the ideas behind QCA. Next, the main features of the method, as presented in The Comparative Method, are introduced. A third part focuses on the early applications. A fourth part presents early criticisms and subsequent innovations. A fifth part then focuses on an era of further expansion in political science and presents some of the main applications in the discipline. In doing so, this paper seeks to provide insights and references into the origin and development of QCA, a non-technical introduction to its main features, the path travelled so far, and the diversification of applications.

The design of a building requires various stages of calculation that consider many aspects so that the results that are in accordance with its functions are not only seen from structural aspects but also economic and aesthetic aspects are also taken into consideration. In building planning, the aesthetic and architectural development in it often leads to irregular / asymmetrical forms of buildings which then cause problems with building seismic irregularities. The building of the Universitas Khairun Postgraduate must be a strong, sturdy educational building and has an attractive and formal architectural appearance. Therefore researchers are interested in examining the structure of the building. The approach in this study is to use a qualitative and quantitative research approach. both approaches are used together or combined, where the approach is used interchangeably. In the first stage using a qualitative approach, so that the architectural concept of building Postgraduate was found. Furthermore, the structure of the building was tested by quantitative methods using the Sap 2000 program. The purpose of this study is to compile the analysis of structural and architectural concepts in the Building of the Universitas Khairun Postgraduate. Some in the social sciences argue that the same logic applies to both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This book demonstrates that these two paradigms constitute different cultures, each internally coherent yet marked by contrasting norms, practices, and toolkits. The book identifies and discusses major differences between these two traditions that touch nearly every aspect of social science research, including design, goals, causal effects and models, concepts and measurement, data analysis, and case selection. Although focused on the differences between qualitative and quantitative research, the book also seeks to promote toleration, exchange, and learning by enabling scholars to think beyond their own culture and see an alternative scientific worldview. The book is written in an easily accessible style and features a host of real-world examples to illustrate methodological points.

Kinship, family composition and household dynamics among siblings are developed positively or negatively in early life right through adulthood. Hence, the purpose of this paper is highlight the importance of family environment in influencing sibling relationship, with emphasis on sibling rivalry. Determining the factors that contribute towards sibling competition is important in counselling and assisting individuals with family issues. From a quantitative research approach, the findings showed that sibling relationships are problematic and has led to jealousies and prejudices especially if parents take sides. Family ties depend on happy sibling interactions which indirectly affects socio-economic developments as social ills are resolved. In ameliorating these private and sensitive issues among family members, the holistic society will benefit psychologically and happiness as well as a better quality of life will be attained.© 2016. AbstractComputer and Information Security (CIS) is usually approached adopting a technology-centric viewpoint, where the human components of sociotechnical systems are generally considered as their weakest part, with little consideration for the end users’ cognitive characteristics, needs and motivations. This paper presents a holistic/Human Factors (HF) approach, where the individual, organisational and technological factors are investigated in pilot healthcare organisations to show how HF vulnerabilities may impact on cybersecurity risks. An overview of current challenges in relation to cybersecurity is first provided, followed by the presentation of an integrated top–down and bottom–up methodology using qualitative and quantitative research methods to assess the level of maturity of the pilot organisations with respect to their capability to face and tackle cyber threats and attacks. This approach adopts a user-centred perspective, involving both the organisations’ management and employees, The results show that a better cyber-security culture does not always correspond with more rule compliant behaviour. In addition, conflicts among cybersecurity rules and procedures may trigger human vulnerabilities. In conclusion, the integration of traditional technical solutions with guidelines to enhance CIS systems by leveraging HF in cybersecurity may lead to the adoption of non-technical countermeasures (such as user awareness) for a comprehensive and holistic way to manage cyber security in organisations.

Mixed methods reviews offer an excellent approach to synthesizing qualitative and quantitative evidence to generate more robust implications for practice, research, and policymaking. There are limited guidance and practical examples concerning the methods for adequately synthesizing qualitative and quantitative research findings in mixed reviews. This paper aims to illustrate the application and use of joint displays for qualitative and quantitative synthesis in mixed methods reviews. We used joint displays to synthesize and integrate qualitative and quantitative research findings in a segregated mixed methods review about male nursing students' challenges and experiences. In total, 36 qualitative, six quantitative, and one mixed-methods study was appraised and synthesized in the review. First, the qualitative and quantitative findings were analyzed and synthesized separately. The synthesized findings were integrated through tabular and visual joint displays at two levels of integration. At the first level, a statistics theme display was developed to compare the synthesized qualitative and quantitative findings and the number of studies from which the findings were generated. At the second level, the synthesized qualitative and quantitative findings supported by each other were integrated to identify confirmed, discordant, and expanded inferences using generalizing theme display. The use of two displays allowed in a robust and comprehensive synthesis of studies. Joint displays could serve as an excellent method for rigorous and transparent synthesis of qualitative and quantitative findings and the generation of adequate and relevant inferences in mixed methods reviews.
