<p>Infertility is one of the reproductive problems that may affect both male and female. In a male, the occurrence of reproductive problems may be due to abnormal spermatogenesis processes and anatomic disorder. Kemangi leaves are an aphrodisiac it contains some secondary metabolites like flavonoid, steroid, tannin, and saponin. The objective of the present research was to determine the effect of feeding fractions of kemangi leaves (Ocimum americanum L.) on the epididymis weight, diameter, and epithelial thickness and the spermatozoa motility and viability of white male rat (Rattus norvegicus). The research was an experimental one, with posttest only group design. The research design used a Completely Random Design. The research sample consisted of 24 furrow white male mice Sprague Dawley, 60-74 days old, divided to control group, a fraction of n-hexane, a fraction of ethyl acetate, and a fraction of water-ethanol. The dosage used for the treatment group was 100 mg/kgBB/day, and the control group was given CMC 1%. The result of data analysis by using a One-Way Anova test showed that there were increases in the weight and diameter of the epididymis in the treatment group as compared to that of the control group (p=0,000). Likewise, both epididymis epithelium thickness and spermatozoa viability in the treatment group increased as compared to that of the control group (p=0.001), while spermatozoa motility was p=0,002. It could be concluded that the fractions of kemangi leaves increased the weight, diameter, and epithelium thickness of epididymis and spermatozoa motility and viability in-furrow white male rat Sprague Dawley.<strong></strong></p>

Exposure to cellphone electromagnetic radiation can cause oxidative stress which can later lead to changes in the hippocampal pyramidal cells. This change can be characterized by a reduction in the number of pyramidal cells and a change in cell morphology characterized by occurrence of picnosis or hydropic degeneration in the hippocampal pyramidal cell nucleus. Alpha Spin can inhibit cell phone electromagnetic radiation exposure through the quantum energy field formed by Alpha Spin. This study aims to determine the protective effect of the use of Alpha spin antiradiation on the histology of the hippocampus of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Sprague dawley strains exposed to mobile electromagnetic waves. Laboratory experimental research using randomized controlled methods with a post test only control group design. Samples were 30 white rats divided into 3 groups. The control group (K) was only given food and drink, the treatment group 1 (P1) was exposed to cellphone electromagnetic waves and the treatment group 2 (P2) was exposed to cellphone electromagnetic waves and placed Alpha Spin. Exposure is done 2 hours / day for 30 days. There were mean differences in all groups with a significant value, which was p <0.05. BACKGROUND: The growing number of COVID-19 patients with long-lasting olfactory disorders makes it necessary to identify effective treatments that enhance the spontaneous recovery of olfactory function. METHODS: Multicentre randomised case-control study that involved 18 patients with COVID-19 related anosmia or severe hyposmia for more than 30 days. Nine patients were prescribed systemic prednisone and nasal irrigation with betamethasone, ambroxol and rinazine for 15 days. The other 9, untreated, patients were used as controls. The olfactory function was evaluated with CCCRC test at 20 and 40 days from the first evaluation. RESULTS: In the control group, a median olfactory score of 20 (IQR 30) was detected at baseline. At the 20-day control there was no significant improvement in olfactory function. The improvement in olfactory performance became significant at the 40-day follow-up compared to baseline scores [60 (IQR 60) versus 20 (IQR 30)]. In the treatment group, patients had a mean olfactory score of 10 (IQR 15) at initial control. At the 20-day control, a significant im-provement in the olfactory scores, compared to the baseline, was detected [70 (IQR 40) versus 10 (IQR 15)]. Olfactory function further improved at 40 days [median score 90 (IQR 50)]. Patients in the treatment group reported significantly higher improvements of the olfactory scores than the controls at both the 20-day [40 (IQR 45) versus 10 (IQR 15)] and 40-day [60 (IQR 40) versus 30 (IQR 25)] evaluations. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results of this study, the mix of drugs including steroids could represent a useful specific therapy to reduce the prevalence of this long-term morbidity.

This pilot study aimed at assessing the feasibility of capturing physiological evidence of reduced stress for hospitalized children following expressive arts therapy. Twenty-five patients were offered a novel form of expressive arts therapy, termed Healing Sock Creatures, during their stay in the hospital. Saliva samples were collected at two times in the afternoon for the purpose of measuring salivary cortisol levels. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups, a treatment group or a wait-list control group. A trend of decreased cortisol levels was apparent following therapy in the treatment group and concurrent steroid treatment, which is common in intensive care units, does not appear to interfere with the ability to measure decreased cortisol levels following therapy. Our results support the design of a formal study to assess physiological biomarkers of stress in hospital settings. To our knowledge, this is the first in-patient study assessing a biomarker of stress following expressive arts therapy for children

Background: Obesity is a prevailing metabolic disorder that affects the functioning of the male reproductive system. Excessive adipose tissue enhances reactive oxygen species generation and is linked with male infertility. Spinach has demonstrated antioxidant effects. The present study was conducted to determine the antioxidant effects of spinach on sperm parameters in obese Sprague Dawley rats. Subjects and methods: This randomized control study was conducted at the animal house of the National Institute of Health Islamabad, Islamic International Medical College, Cosmesurge International Hospital, Rawalpindi, and Apollo lab, Islamabad, Pakistan from April 2016 to March 2017. Forty male Sprague Dawley rats having an age of 8 weeks and weight 160-200g were tagged from number 1 to 40. Every third rat was randomly allocated to control Group A (n=13) and remaining into the Experimental group (n=27). Rats of control Group A was given a standard diet while a high-fat diet was given to Experimental group rats to induce obesity for the duration of six weeks. Weight (g) was measured weekly and obesity was confirmed when rats attain more than 20% weight when compared with that of rats of control Group A. Then, after obesity induction, the experimental group was alienated into the obesity control group (Group B) and spinach treated group (Group C). For sample, rats of Group A and Group B were sacrificed, and the cauda epididymis of each rat was placed in a Petri dish containing normal saline and cut into pieces to allow the release of sperm and then sperm parameters (sperms concentration, motility, and morphology) were recorded under the microscope. Then, spinach (5% hot water extract) along with the persistence of fat diet was administered to Group C for 4 weeks and finally, sperm parameters were measured in this group. Results: Sperm concentration/ml, motility (%), and normal morphology (%) of Group B rats were significantly decreased as compared to Group A rats. However, sperm concentration/ml, motility (%), and normal morphology (%) of Group C (spinach treated group) rats was significantly increased (p<0.001) as compared to Group B (obesity control group) rats after administering spinach. Conclusion: The addition of Spinach in a normal diet regimen restores normal sperm morphology, improves sperm motility and concentration.
