BACKGROUND: The health-related quality of life construct (QoL) implies a relationship with eating habits (EA) and physical activity (PA). Sociodemographic and anthropometric variables (gender, age and Body Mass Index - BMI) are highlighted in the definition of healthy lifestyle habits promotion strategies. OBJECTIVE: We aim to characterize and relate PA, EA and QoL in children/youth and explore gender, age and BMI influences. METHODS: It is a non-experimental study, with 337 children/youth, ages between 8 and 17 years (12.61±2.96), mostly from the rural inland of Portugal. In data collection we used a sociodemographic and anthropometric questionnaire, a weekly register table of EA and Kid-Kindl (QoL). Statistical analysis (p <  0.05) were performed in SPSS-IBM 25. RESULTS: Lower BMI was associated with better EA (p <  0.001), PA (p <  0.05) and self-esteem (p <  0.01) and worse scores on family subscale of QoL. Female showed higher fruit intake (p <  0.05). The older has shown better results. PA is positively correlated with QoL (p <  0.01) and EA (p <  0.05). CONCLUSIONS: It is important to explore other relevant social and family dimensions, to promote intervention programs with parents, school and community, as well as healthy practices policies. The intervention in these age groups is critical for a longer-term impact in improving healthy life habits.

Abstract We developed a Comprehensive Health Assessment and Motivation program (CHAMP-D) focused on self-health promotion and management for people aging with disabilities. The goal of the CHAMP-D is to enhance healthy lifestyle, self-health management and communications with the care team by a person-centered Health Passport tool. All study participants underwent comprehensive health, physical, and blood laboratory evaluation. CHAMP-D results were formatted into an easy to follow health passport. A follow-up survey evaluated the CHAMP-D on 59 respondents and 77% found the recommendations to be achievable and reported improved quality of life (QoL). Other improvements were noted in in self-care (54%), physical activity (49%), and diet (24%). 51% of the participants shared the Health Passport with their PCP. Overall, the CHAMP-D had a positive impact on participants’ self-reported health, self-care, and wellbeing. Empowering individuals with disabilities to take an active role in self-managing their health is feasible and can impact their QoL.

Actuality: Among the diseases that significantly affect people, osteoarthritis (OA) takes 4th place in women and 8th in men. In both sexes older than 70 years, osteoarthrosis occurs in almost everyone, and in the last decade its prevalence has steadily increased. The social significance of OA is determined by the increase in disability, especially in older age groups, as well as by a sharp decline in the quality of life for this. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the therapy performed 12 months after initiation of treatment in patients with hypertension (GC) on the background of treatment with meloxicam at a dose of 7.5 mg/day and 80 and 160 mg/day. Material and methods: under supervision in an outpatient setting, there were 90 patients on the OA 1–2 stages, in combination with GC 2 degree, 2–3 degrees. The average age of patients with OA was 64.4 ± 7.5 years (the first group), patients with OA in combination with GC – 62.13 ± 8.2 years (second group), patients with OA in combination with GC and gastropathy due to admission NSAIDs (third group) – 64.81 ± 1.3 years. Disease duration in patients of the first group – (9.66 ± 4.7) years, in patients of the second group – (9.4 ± 6.0) years, in patients of the third group – (10.4 ± 5.6) years, respectively, the fourth group of comparison contained practically healthy persons. All patients complained of pain syndrome of varying degrees of severity. Patients in the first group received baseline therapy of meloxicam at a dose of 7.5 mg/day; patients in the second and third groups received meloxicam and antihypertensive drug (at a dose of 80 or 160 mg per day). Duration of treatment was 12 months. Results of the study and their discussion: according to the results, the positive effect of the use of meloxicam has led to a significant decrease in the severity of pain in the first, second and third groups according to the visual analogue scale (VAS): (27.8 %, 29.8 %, 25.4 %, p < 0.05) and the Lequesne index (27.1 % and 30.9 %, 26.4 %, p < 0.05), respectively. Conclusions: The tested scheme of treatment of patients with OA with the use of meloxicam indicates the efficacy and statistically significant reduction of pain syndrome, improvement of the functional state of the musculoskeletal system in patients with OA as well as with OA in combination with GC. 2.Also, the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect of meloxicam and its positive effect on the clinical course of OA were revealed: joint pain decreased, functional capacity increased, general well-being and quality of life of patients improved. Prospects for further research: We consider it expedient to continue prospective surveillance of patients with the aim of further studying of the effect of meloxicam in patients with a comorbid disease. Conflict of Interest: There is no conflict of interest.

There are investigated the influence of operating pressures in the gas supply system on the level of such energy indicators as efficiency, gas flow and gas overrun by gas equipment in residential buildings. There is established a relationship between the values of operating pressures in the gas supply system and the gas consumption level of household appliances. The causes of insufficient pressure in the gas networks of settlements are analyzed in the article. There is also developed an algorithm for calculating the change in the efficiency of gas appliances depending on the operational parameters of the gas network. It has been found that the most efficient operation of gas appliances is observed at an overpressure at the inlet of gas appliances of about 1200 Pa.To ensure the required quality of natural gas combustion among consumers and minimize gas consumption there are justified the following measures in the article: coordinating a domestic regulatory framework for assessing the quality of natural gas with international norms and standards; improving the preparation of gas coming from local wells before supplying it to gas distribution networks; auditing low pressure gas pipelines and reconstructing areas affected by corrosion; ensuring standard gas pressure in the network for the normal operation of domestic gas appliances; stating quality indicators of natural gas combustion by gas sales organizations.

In two parts of the article, more than 70 errors and violations of the Biotechnics of artificial breeding of Pacific salmon in salmon hatcheries are collected and summarized, which lead to an immediate or delayed deterioration of the quality of reared fry and a decrease in their survival rate. Deviations from the biological basis of fish farming are shown and possible consequences of such errors or violations are predicted. In the first part of the article (#7,2020) there were General errors (throughout the entire fish-breeding process), as well as violations of Biotechnics during the work with producers, collecting eggs and preparing them for incubation, in the second part-violations of Biotechnics during the incubation of eggs, holding pre-larvae, rearing and release of young. Their correction, prevention or minimization of consequences will significantly improve the quality of sexual products and offspring from producers, increase the linear and weight gain of juveniles during rearing, improve the coefficient of feed payment, reduce the time of rearing, improve the epizootic situation by developing immunity in fry and mobilizing other protective reactions of their body, significantly reduce waste at all stages of the production process, increasing survival by 10–15%. In conclusion, it is noted that the first and most important condition for an efficient salmon hatchery is the creation of optimal environmental conditions at each stage of the production process. The second condition is strict compliance with the Biotechnics of artificial salmon breeding and the complex of veterinary and sanitary, fish-breeding and meliorative and therapeutic and preventive measures. The third is the availability of competent specialists who regularly improve their skills in accredited Universities to implement, control and manage the first two conditions.
