The development of the international trade and the entrance of domestic car manufacturers into international markets required bench equipment development for tests in accordance with the requirements of the European standards. In this connection the purpose of this work is to develop an experimental and methodical basis for the estimation of the strength correspondence of export railway produce to the European standard basis. In the work there is shown a description of the bench developed for static tests of rolling stock for loads corresponding to the European standard basis. In the requirements mentioned there is used a more extended list of loads and combination of efforts and the necessity in the application of longitudinal loads to the elements of the end wall in three levels should be particularly emphasized. On the test bench there are carried out static tests of the car of model 61-4514 for Egyptian national railways and the body of the motor-rail car of model 2853 for the railway infrastructure of Serbia.

Current geopolitical and economic conditions for the functioning of railway transport in most post-Soviet states are such that it is extremely difficult to provide required quality of transport services and break-even operations at high expenses for maintaining the railway infrastructure and rolling stock. Dynamics of transportation of the Tajik Railway (TSR) is shown, which displays that most of its sections are classified as low-intensity ones. The paper proposes methodical principles, setting and qualitative analysis of the task of rationalization of operational work and organization of car flows for international transportation, taking into account the specifics of the Tajik Railway. There is a problem of complex maintenance of the efficiency of operational work in modern conditions based on the synthesis of the tasks of self-management (rational internal operational technology of the Tajik Railway) and coordination tasks (technological interaction with railway administrations of other states). Author substantiated the necessity of solving this problem. Proposed classification of technological restrictions and controlled variables in the performance of transport takes into account methods for changing external conditions for the functioning of the railway landfill and methods for increasing internal efficiency of its operation. The search for the solution of the problem involves direct search of variants along its ordered set with clipping of groups of variants that do not correspond to constraints, with the subsequent finding of compromise control over a set of effective alternatives.

Choosing a high-speed rail vehicle depends on many factors. On the one hand, there are requirements for ensuring the quality of service for passengers, on the other hand, there are constraints resulting from the parameters of available infrastructure. Also a relation of the benefit and financial costs associated with the purchase and the operation of rolling stock is essential. Technical characteristics of vehicles selected for operating a particular system is a compromise between the three groups of requirements. In this article technical parameters of railway infrastructure and rolling stock are classified and then analysed from the TSI requirements point of view.

Potential fire on board of the passenger train creates risk for passengers health and passengers life. Using non-flammable materials for producing Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) is not considered to be sufficient as passengers are carrying different types of materials as their luggage and belongings. In case of fire on board of the train, the EMU should stop in a place which is appropriate for passengers evacuation and fire fighting. Not all places along railway lines are considered to be appropriate for such purpose. Especially stopping in tunnels is considered inappropriate. Meanwhile the amount of tunnels on the Polish railway network is growing significantly. This requires application of the Technical Specification for Interoperability regarding Safety in Railway Tunnels (TSI SRT) and set of fire standards EN 45545. Using those requirements is associated with putting tunnels and rolling stock into service under railway interoperability directive 2008/57/WE. Additional analyse is however necessary from operational safety point of view due to growing amount of tunnels and growing diversity of rolling stock. Paper proposes conducting risk analyse in accordance with common safety method for risk evaluation and assessment based on a dedicated European Standard EN 50533 which defines requirements regarding running capability in case of fire on board of the rolling stock. Paper analyses applicability of that approach for group of tunnels and rolling stock fleet comprising different types of rolling stock including Electric Multiple Units.

This study focuses on quality assurance in a laser welded axisymmetric sandwich structure that functions as the body of an electric machine. The manufacturing quality of the structure was measured using destructive testing and visual inspection. The destructive tests included both fatigue and static tests in addition to a macrographic examination. The visual inspection comprised ocular estimates of the laser welded seams as well as their requirements. Compared with the real working conditions of the machine, the experimental tests were exhaustive. Nevertheless, in the tests, the bodies held up very well which shows the great strength of the structure.

A conventional three-piece truck with load sensitive friction snubbing was tested as a complete assembly with its wheels resting on a fixed section of rail and with loads applied through a fixture that duplicated the body bolster at the truck bolster interface. The purpose of the testing was to determine the stiffness and friction forces of the truck under vertical, lateral, and roll moment loading conditions. Loads were varied to cover a range of car gross weight conditions. The test was quasi-static in that load application was varied at sinusoidal rates of 0.1 or 0.2 Hertz to minimize errors in spring rate measurement caused by friction snubber forces. The desired stiffness and friction force data were obtained in terms of system rather than component properties and are consequently more directly usable in mathematical models. The roll test data were particularly useful because separate spring rates were obtained for the different conditions of center plate seated, center plate rocking, and side bearing contact. Because of the sinusoidal method of load application, it was possible to obtain system spring rates with the friction snubbers static and sliding.

London-based DV8 Physical Theatre makes company-devised hybrid dance/theatre performance which consistently is socially committed, exploring the power dynamics of different forms of social inclusion and exclusion. The company's 2000 show, Can We Afford This, focused particularly on social prejudice about ‘the body beautiful’. Using seventeen dancers of different physical and technical abilities, ages, genders, and sizes, the show both critiqued prejudices about what constitutes the body beautiful and posited other, more inclusive, images of beautiful bodies. This analysis considers how the show's argument was focused and enhanced in its original context of devising and production (Sydney, Australia, in its Olympic and Paralympic year of 2000) and, in contrast, was dissipated and generalized when it moved out of that context to tour to the international markets of London and Hong Kong.

The article is dedicated to the analytical and methodological issues related to the economic effectiveness appraisal of rolling stock modernization. It is a very current topic because rail carriers often take up decision on comprehensive modernization of the rolling stock, especially locomotives, passenger carriages and multiple units. There was pointed out in the article the necessity of conduction of rolling stock modernization feasibility studies considering three different assumptions: a) assuming the same annual transport efficiency and expecting benefits at the exploitation costs side, b) assuming the same exploitation costs of the new and modernized carriage and expecting benefits at the transport efficiency side, c) assuming varied exploitation costs and varied transport efficiency of the new and modernized rolling stock. Feasibility study should be conducted by the means of discounted cash flow method - increase version, because that method allows best to capture the benefits resulting from the rolling stock modernization.

The research on rolling stock stability condition for derailment was carried out by many foreign and domestic scientists, each of them proposed its own methods and approaches to its calculation. Each of proposed methods and approaches has its advantages and disadvantages that are analyzed in detail. Besides the method of determining the stability margin coefficient for derailment of rolling stock is indicated in currently accepted norms for calculation and design of railcars track of 1520 mm, in European standards. However, calculations based on the norms that are used for railways track of 1520 mm do not give an opportunity to take into account the parameters of the rail track, namely the irregularities in both the vertical and horizontal planes that occur during operation. So, calculations of traffic safety criteria according to these standards do not allow to determine the effect of wear of wheel pairs and rail track. Moreover exceeding the permissible value of stability margin coefficient for derailment of rolling stock does not always lead to the rolling in of the wheel flange on the railhead. Because the ratio of vertical load to horizontal force can exceed the permissible value, but the gap between the wheel flange and the bar will not be exhausted. Check of stability conditions from a derailment of rolling stock on accepted by norms for model 11-286 car is executed. The basic lacks of the used method of calculation and ways of its improvement are resulted. Creation of mathematical models of railcars will allow to take into account main features of construction of running gears, wear of wheelsets, railtrack and determine the time when the gap between the wheel flange and the rail is exhausted (their dynamic interaction arises). We should also analyze the European experience in determining the criteria for traffic safety.

The countries of the European Union have a huge territory and a large number of objects of transport infrastructure and rolling stock. In these countries, various methods, complex systems and technologies are offered for the organization and management of the cargo transportation process and passengers with traffic safety. The acceptance and admission of rolling stock to operation is carried out in accordance with the requirements set out in document EN 14363. This document defines the main indicators of railway traffic safety, methods, means and conditions for conducting tests of rolling stock on the definition of its qualitative driving characteristics. In the author’s article, the following safety indicators were studied on the EU railways: the coefficient of stability from rolling the wheel flange of the wheel pair onto the rail head, the value of the turning of the trolley relative to the body of the rolling stock (index X), the indicator of the lateral action of the rolling stock on the rails. The stability of the rolling of the wheel of the wheel pair onto the rail head on the EU railways is investigated on the basis of the Nadal’s criterion. The value of the resistance of the trolley rotation relative to the body of the rolling stock is decisive for proving the safety condition against the derailment wheel pairs on the EU railways. With the help of the indicator of the lateral action of the rolling stock on the rails limited the size of the lateral forces to minimize the risk of shifts of rail-sleeper lattice. The article describes how a rolling stock test on EU railways is being conducted to determine the traffic safety indicators. The author notes that in order to determine the possibility of derailment of rolling stock under the norm EN 14363, it is necessary to have the value of the guiding force. However, determining the direction of the force is a complicated and time-consuming process, since it requires a large number of experimental studies. Key words: railways, rolling stock, indicators of sustainability, European Union.

The need for the reconstruction of existing auto service enterprises is caused by changes in the structure of the rolling stock, the design of cars and the conditions of their operation, increasing the requirements for the quality of rolling stock, the design of cars and their operating conditions, increasing the quality requirements for maintenance and repair, saving fuel and energy resources and quality assurance of the environment. In our case, the need to reconstruct the autoservice company LLC "Avtomir" is associated with the need to switch to maintenance and storage of new types of rolling stock, as well as changes in the dynamics of demand for cars. In LLC Avtomir there is no possibility of rendering services related to damage to the body of the car, which reduces the ability of the organization to receive additional income, as this type of damage owners of vehicles have to eliminate at other service stations. This fact puts the company in front of the need to create a paint and body shop in the future. The purpose of this work was the development of measures to reconstruct the infrasructure of LLC "Avtomir". The main results of the technological calculation of the enterprise are as follows: - the annual workload of the technical service station is 43529 man-hour; - annual scope of works of washing, maintenance, lubrication, adjusting for setting the angles of the front wheels, adjusting brakes, maintenance and repair of the power system, electrical, tire fitting 4913; 15235.2; 2176.5; 2611.7; 3917.6; 4353; 4353; 2285 and 914 man-hour respectively; - the annual volume of works at the tire fitting site, on the maintenance and repair site of the power supply system, electrical, maintenance units is 2133; 762; 4788.2 man-hour respectively; - necessary number of production workers for maintenance and technical maintenance 29 (technological) and 35 (staff), as well as the number of auxiliary 4 and engineering - technical 5 workers; - the necessary number of posts for washing, maintenance, lubricants, technical maintenance, adjusting for setting the angles of the front wheels, adjusting for the brakes, maintenance and repair of the power system, electrical 4; 1; 1; 1; 1; 1 and 1 respectively. Analysis of production and economic activities of the enterprise allowed us to identify the objectives of the enterprise, the dynamics of its development, the state of the production and technical base. This makes it possible to identify the main shortcomings in the functioning of the organization and to implement the formulation of new tasks that need to be solved in the future. Namely, LLC "Avtomir" needs to increase production capacity, namely the addition of a diagnostic post and one more car acceptance post. In addition, there is a need to implement the washing zone, and on the vacated area to arrange a painting and drying chamber and a preparation site for painting works.
