The article presents the results of a longitudinal study of the factors of professional burnout of contact center employees, such as length of service, intensity of activity, professional success and professional motivation. The research was conducted in 2 stages. The total sample size was 78 respondents: 53 of them were examined at the first stage, 25 — at the second stage. The study showed that professional burnout is a multifactorial and complex process that does not directly depend on such factors as work experience, professional effectiveness, and professional motivation level. The risk of professional burnout syndrome increases if the structure of professional motivation is dominated by external and narrowly social motives. On the other hand, it decreases significantly, if employees can realize personal motives, values, and meanings in their professional activities.

The results of an assessment of professional burnout of media workers are presented. Recommendations on reduction of the burnout syndrome impact are provided. The assessment was conducted using the professional burnout diagnostics method by K. Maslach and S. Jackson adapted by N.E. Vodopyanova. The burnout syndrome is considered to be a three-dimensional component consisting of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal achievement reduction. The study involved Irkutsk regional newspapers, radio broadcasting, television and Internet media. A total of 155 people participated were surveyed: 113 females and 42 males. Most of them suffer from the professional burnout syndrome. To verify the results obtained, age and work experience were taken into account. According to the results obtained, the degree of depersonalization increases with aging. The longer the participant works, the stronger the depersonalization component. The personal achievement reduction also depends on these components. The younger the editorial staff member and the shorter his/her work experience, the stronger the negative self-esteem, underestimation of own professional achievements and success. Conversely, the more mature the journalist is, the more positively he evaluates his professional competence and creativity. At the same time, emotional exhaustion manifests itself in all respondents, regardless of their age: in two studies, the average and high degrees were revealed. It is this component that makes a contribution to the professional burnout of journalists. To reduce the impact of the syndrome, a set of preventive measures has been developed. They can prevent economic and resource losses, and increase labor productivity. The methods of preventing professional burnout are aimed at preventing emotional exhaustion, and in extreme cases - at relieving negative symptoms and combating negative consequences. They can improve productivity of media workers and reduce psychosocial risks.

Introduction: The working environment in special education school units may lead to personnel burnout syndrome for the various professionals working in such field. Objective: To investigate the extent of burnout syndrome among special education school units’ personnel and the factors affecting its manifestation. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted, with a convenience sample of 346 people, working at special education school units. The Copenhagen Burnout Inventory was used for data collection. Results: Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency value was 0.85 regarding personal burnout, 0.73 regarding professional burnout, and 0.83 regarding burnout related to students. As for the participants, 45% were teachers, 23.7% school nurses, 12.9% speech therapists and 18.4% other professionals. The average on all three subscales of the inventory was <50, which shows a low level of burnout. According to the results of the multivariate linear regression, permanent (coefficient b=8.0, 95% CI=3.2-12.9, p=0.001) and contract staff (coefficient b=15.4, 95% CI=8.4-22.4, p<0.001) presented higher levels of personal burnout, in comparison to substitute personnel. Permanent staff (coefficient b=8.9, 95% CI=3.9-13.9, p=0.001) and contract staff (coefficient b=10.0, 95% CI 95=2.9-17.2, p=0.006) presented higher levels of professional burnout, in comparison to substitute staff. Finally, the higher the work experience in the specialty, the higher the level of burnout related to students (coefficient b=0.4, 95% CI=0.01-0.7, p=0.042). Conclusions: The special education school units’ personnel go presented low levels of burnout. It is proposed that more studies would be conducted in the future, where, apart from the demographic characteristics of the participants, other factors that contribute to personnels’ burnout syndrome would be examined, such as work environment characteristics.

The research addresses the need to assess the degree of professional burnout of teachers of higher education institutions of Ukraine and to analyse connection between the level of teachers’ professional burnout and their organizational-professional (type of education, teaching experience) and socio-demographic (age, gender, marital status) characteristics. The article presents results of comparative analysis of major scientific approaches to the content of professional burnout: result of occupational stress; psychological defence mechanism; type of professional deformation of a personality; professional crisis and clinical disorder. The authors’ Questionnaire was employed as the main method of the study. The level of teachers’ professional burnout was explored via “Burnout Syndrome” in professions of the system “man-man” method by Maslach & Jackson. The study was conducted from 01 to 31 May 2020 and involved 302 faculty members of higher education institutions of Cherkasy region (central Ukraine). The findings signal that more than a third of the surveyed teachers experience a high level of expression of all components of professional burnout. The paper reports that the length of teaching experience has a positive effect on reducing most components of professional burnout; the level of emotional exhaustion decreases with age; women have a lower degree of emotional exhaustion than men. It is revealed that the actual socio-demographic characteristics of teachers (age, gender) have a greater impact on such a component of professional burnout as emotional exhaustion, while organizational and professional characteristics have a greater effect on such components of professional burnout as depersonalization and reduction of personal achievements.

Since 2014, scholars have been studying the professional burnout of medical workers following the order of health care. In 2017, the authors of the article began to analyze the causes of burnout in teachers, including those who work with gifted children. The study of burnout is a socially significant task as the high-level burnout of doctors and teachers leads to a decrease in the quality of work, staff turnover, health problems and economic losses. The study aims at seeking universal approaches to the diagnostics, prevention and correction of burnout. The authors consider professional burnout as a combination of interdependent components: psychological, somatic and psychosomatic. In this case, it was necessary to study professional burnout and morbidity with temporal disability with due regard to age, sex, length of service and place of work, as well as to calculate the economic damage from the above-mentioned morbidity. They should also determine the significance of work experience and professional qualities in the formation of burnout and morbidity. To study professional burnout, the authors used proven, reliable and valid methods: diagnostic tests (questionnaire to reveal the emotional burnout degree by V.V. Boyko); questionnaire to measure professional burnout by K. Maslach and S. Jackson (abridged by N. E. Vodopianova). Morbidity with temporal disability and economic damage were considered with the help of statistical analysis, modeling and the PPP Statistica software. To determine professionally significant personality traits, the authors used the Wiesbaden questionnaire, cluster analysis using the Chebyshev similarity measure and the Kendall rank correlation coefficient to confirm the results of cluster analysis. The authors have compared the burnout of teachers working with gifted children with that experienced by rural teachers and doctors. They have identified age groups that are most susceptible to burnout and factors influencing the burnout of teachers.
