Almost all developed and progressed countries, reading activities are a necessity, as well as clothing, food and shelter needs. Reading is an important activity for having good generations that have a broad insight in everything and certainly are sensitive to the conditions of the surrounding environment. One way to grow and increase the reading interest for rural communities so that it becomes a culture is to establish a library, more precisely the Village Library. In this activity, the team of English Department formulated the problem of how the perspectives of the Kepunten Village community on reading habits in the Village Library were mainly about the procurement of the number and collection of books, reading interest, community interest, introduction, utilization and application of English literacy. The method used in seeing the results of the Devotion Program to Society (PPM) of English Language Education Program was described quantitatively. The results showed that reading habits from an early age supported by a variety of reading materials in Indonesia or English Language can encourage local people to develop themselves through village  libraries supported by the local government, Devotion Programs to Society and Facilities that support the management and development of Village Libraries to better and better.

This chapter aims to investigate how podcasts can be made to fit into the repertoire of resources utilized by teachers, especially in language education. It focuses on arming the language teacher with a fundamental knowledge of podcasting, centering on its potential applications in the classroom. Podcasts are ideal resources for language teachers, especially English language teachers, because almost all topics imaginable are now being treated in podcasts and the bulk of podcasts are recorded in English. Aside from making use of language-teaching podcasts, language teachers can also incorporate English language podcasts dealing with a wide range of issues to cater to the varying preferences of students. In addition to discussing these points, this chapter also provides suggestions for the practical incorporation of podcasts in language learning and teaching, both inside and outside the classroom. Two case studies demonstrating possible ways to use podcasts in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context are presented.

Language teaching in New Zealand as it relates to the theme of this volume, the movement of people across national boundaries, has had two main directions. The first, arising from the nineteenth century British colonization of tribal Maori society with the subsequent ceding of the land to the British crown, focused on the language education of the indigenous Maori people primarily through the schooling of children. In the 1980's almost all Maoris speak English and a minority are actively bilingual. The second direction, occurring particularly over the last decade or so, has focused on the English language education of immigrants speaking English as a second language and coming as adults or children to a largely English speaking country. This review deals particularly with these two major directions in language teaching and does not, therefore, cover the teaching of foreign languages such as French or German as academic subjects in New Zealand.

The misuse of dietary supplements and doping substances is commonly associated with toxicity, nutritional imbalances, and health and psychological consequences. This is alarming especially in light of the increasing prevalence of the use of dietary supplements and doping, particularly among young adults including athletes. There is evidence that education interventions can lead to improved knowledge, intentions, and practices. However, no review has summarized and evaluated the effectiveness of such interventions. The aim of this article is to review the characteristics, contents and effects of education interventions that were designed and implemented to improve knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and intentions with respect to the use of dietary supplements and doping agents in different populations. PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, PsycInfo and Google Scholar were searched for English-language education interventions targeting dietary supplements and doping substances. A total of 20 articles were identified and have generally provided consistent findings. Most interventions reported a significant improvement in knowledge on dietary supplements and doping agents. Unfortunately, the heavy reliance on self-reported assessment tools limits the validity of these interventions, with almost all articles targeting athletes and adolescents.

This paper sets out to place the research on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) within the border of Chinese academia. In considering the limited amount of empirical research in China, the author problematises the construction of a shared CLIL research agenda aimed at extending the scope of the current academic scenario. A conceptual model is formulated based on the constructive proposal brought forward by Coyle et al. (2010) that CLIL research should involve the examination and understanding of performance evidence, affective evidence, process evidence and materials and task evidence. Given that almost all the reviewed CLIL studies were conducted in the scope of English language education in higher education, this model is positioned within a broad multilingual and educationally diverse context in China. A more comprehensive, rich and evidence-based research scenario is expected from Chinese researchers whose work is not only to extend the CLIL research agenda but also to probe into it in the long way ahead.

The paper discusses the integral rural development and its importance for the policy of a more balanced regional development. Highly emphasized regional disproportions in almost all domains, as well as the long-standing lagging behind in the development of village and agriculture, resulted in faltering and stagnation of total development of the country. Overcoming, this problem calls for application of a more complex model of developmental policy for the village and rural society, which demand a multidisciplinary approach. Active policy and promotion of integral rural development is not only in the interest of rural communities, but of the society as a whole. This implies that investment in a wide range of economic branches in rural areas is of vital importance for increasing the attractiveness of rural areas, encouragement of sustainable development and creation of new possibilities for employment, especially of young educated people who are ready and capable to accept the new philosophy of development of these areas. Although rural areas in Serbia observed as a whole are highly heterogeneous with respect to economic development, according to the basic parameters of development degree, they lag behind urban and industrial centers considerably, and much more attention should be devoted to this phenomenon in the future.

The spread of the Coronavirus Diseases 2019 called the COVID-19 outbreak, which began in December 2019 from one of the countries in Asia. That is increasingly widespread, and the pandemic scale has reached almost all parts of the world. In Indonesia, the spread of COVID-19 has infected up to 307,120 people, with 11,253 deaths (BNPB, 2020b). This situation illustrates that the spread of the coronavirus is massive and with enormous casualties. Until now, no treatment can cure this coronavirus. COVID-19 is increasingly spreading to all regions in Indonesia, and rural areas are no exception. The problems experienced by rural communities are the lack of public awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic and the health protocols that the government has set to break the chain of the spread of the coronavirus. On the one hand, the village community strives to maintain the family's economy by carrying out activities outside the home even though it is at significant risk. Seeing this situation, the desire to carry out social service programs moved to concern and realization of community service activities, especially in rural areas. Activities in a joint effort with the community to strengthen the community's mindset towards preventing the spread of COVID-19 are through the making of appeal banners in several locations that are often passed by the community, spraying disinfectants into people's homes, sticking stickers, and socializing health protocols as a form of changing the mindset of people who still do not believe it. All of these activities received the support and enthusiasm of the village community, totaling 2,325 people, and were able to change the previous mindset.

Several studies have discussed the potential of reforming the Saudi educational system in line with Vision 2030 announced in 2016. While some studies highlighted factors that can make transformation successful, reviewed studies proposed future plans on how educational reform can take place, i.e., studies that investigated the Vision’s educational opportunities are mostly proposals, meaning that no experimental research has yet been conducted on the actual learning practice, particularly with English education and the incorporation of technology into learning. Thus, the current longitudinal study is an attempt to investigate English language teachers’ perceptions of and attitudes about the Vision and whether they have experienced any remarkable educational changes in their own behavior and teaching practices. The study was conducted with 15 female in-service English language teachers. Data was collected in two phases to reveal any change in teachers perceptions over time. The study concluded that almost all participants held positive attitudes toward Vision 2030. However, there was not a correlation between teachers' perceptions and actual teaching experience in terms of pedagogical and technological perceptions and the Vision's implications.
