ABSTRAKMetafora seks dalam Serat Centhini termasuk bahasa figuratif. Bahasa sebenarnya sebuah tanda yang mencerminkan pola pikir, pandangan hidup atau pandangan dunia masyarakatnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan ajaran kesempurnaan hidup di balik metafora seks dalam Serat Centhini. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori mitologi Roland Barthes tentang signifikasi makna. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah Serat Centhini berupa tulisan Latin terdiri dari 12 jilid diterbitkan oleh Karkono Kamajaya melalui Yayasan Centhini tahun 1986 dan narasumber. Datanya berupa data kebahasaan yang berwujud larik yang ada berikut metaforiknya, terutama yang mengandung metafora seksual dan transliterasi hasil wawancara. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa ajaran seks dalam SC yang diwujudkan dengan gaya bahasa metafora sebenarnya mencerminkan pandangan hidup masyarakat Jawa. Manusia hendaknya selalu sadar akan bibit kawite 'asal mulanya' dan harus berupaya memaknai makna hidup ini untuk menuju kesempurnaan hidup atau manunggaling kawula Gusti. Konsep ini dalam SC sering diungkapkan dengan bahasa yang arkais, indah, dan santun.Kata kunci: metafora seksual, Serat Centhini, ajaran hidup ABSTRACT Sex metaphor in Serat Centhini (SC) is included in  figurative language. Language is actually a sign that reflects the mindset, outlook on life or world view of the people. The purpose of this study is to find the teachings of the perfection of life behind the sex metaphor in SC. This type of research is qualitative research and the method used is descriptive qualitative. The theory used in this research is Roland Barthes's mythology about the significance of meaning. The data source in this research is SC in the Latin writing consists of 12 volumes published by Karkono Kamajaya through Centhini Foundation in 1986 and information from some  informants. The data is linguistic data in the form of an array and its metaphorics, especially that is containing the metaphors of sexual tools and the results of interviews. Sexual intercourse taught in SC with metaphorical language style reminds that humans should always be aware of bibit kawite ‘the origin of marriage'  and must try to interpret the meaning of life in order to achieve the perfection of life ‘manunggaling kawula Gusti.’ This concept in SC is often expressed in an archaic, beautiful, and polite language.Keywords: sexual metaphors, Serat Centhini, teachings of life

The goal is this research to see the symbols of figurative language and to analyze the meaning and significance of symbols figurative language in the wedding ceremony manjapuik marapulai in Paninjauan village, Tanah Datar district, West Sumatera. The research employs qualitative study using content analysis (symbolic) and analysis of Roland Barthes semiology be the significance of the two stages (two orders of signification) denotation and connotation, as well as mythical as the development of connotation. The study found that symbols contained in panitahan at a ceremony manjapuik marapulai conform with values and philosophy of Minang adopted by local community. Symbols are included in the 15 sentences that comes from nature, conform with the philosophy of alam takambang manjadi guru as the sentence Tantangan kato ayam lai barinduak, which is a lesson from nature that chickens need of parent in guiding his life as well as humans who need parents in shows about customs. One sentence that comes to the religious teachings of Islam: Adat badiri di nan patuik, syarak mamakai pado dalil, limbago duduak bajauahan, tarapak sambah ka tangah, taunjuak ka muko rapek, the doctrine greeting to people who attend an event. Then 11 sentences that comes to tradition, philosophy, ideology and ethics of society as a sentence Pusako duduak di nan rapek, kato surang dibulati, kato basamo dipaiyo, direnjeang kato jo mupakat which is the ideology of the people in Paninjauan village that is discussion.

The study of stylistics has grown wider in literatures and in linguistics. Stylistics provides linguistic features that support the interpretation of certain text so that the investigation becomes comprehensive. This research aims at finding stylistic features of the narrations of the prologue and epilogue of Mata Najwa talk show in an episode entitled Pejabat Pemburu Rente. Using ear-catching word arrangements, the prologue and epilogue successfully attract the audiences’ attention and, thus, the talk show becomes one of the most popular TV show in Indonesia. The stylistic features observed in this research are based on deviation and parallelism. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The data source is Mata Najwa show with the sub-title Pejabat Pemburu Rente, while the data are the prologue and the epilogue of the show. The analysis shows three features in the prologue as well as in the epilogue: figurative language, sound repetition and word repetition.

This research aims to know and understanding the element of literature, especially in figurative language. The objectives of this research are (1). To identify some elements of figurative language are used by Avril Lavigne’s songs lyric. (2). To show the general meaning and detail meaning of the songs containing the figurative language itself in understanding songs lyric. (3). To find out the most and the least used figurative language of the songs. The data source used is the album self-titled Avril Lavigne by Avril Lavigne. In that album the writer chooses five songs to analyzed such as, Here’s to Never Growing Up, Bitchin’ Summer, Give You, What You Like, Hello Kitty, and Sippin’ on Sunshine. This research is descriptive qualitative research. It means that this research does not calculate the data and just gives description about figurative language that is contained in Avril Lavigne songs. It is done by using bold and underlining the songs lyric, classifying the figurative language and then giving the meaning. The result of this research is to discover some kinds of figurative language such as, Metaphor, Simile, Personification, Alliteration, Allusion, Hyperbole, Litotes, also Onomatopoeia

The research focuses on Sunday Bloody Sunday as an Expressive Criticism. The researchers apply a qualitative research using the lyrics of the song Sunday Bloody Sunday as source of data. The finding shows that the lyrics of the song Sunday Bloody Sunday is an expressive poem that conveys the message of the spirit of the Irish nationalism and patriotism that is roosted on the speaker’s world view and weltanschauung. The world of view of the speaker of the poem is that he sides with the people of Ireland who want to make the island become united in the name of the republic Ireland that  comprises the whole island and wants to spread the idea through this song. This song is also an expression of the anger of the speaker of the poem that sees the presence of the British authority cannot be tolerated because they kill the unarmed civilians on and on and every Irish people can be target for the killings..

  Analysis ofFilm "Sang Kyai" (Islamic Nationalism Nusantara Perspective Semiotics Roland Barthes).One of the fundamental problems underlying the author's take on this study, becauseas long as it has begun to wear off Indonesia citizen nationalism stance. Such is the case, the tendency of citizens that Indonesia is more loved by the people of the West,dressing style that follows the culture of people of the West,so this leads to a lack of respectcopyright, the initiative of the Indonesian nation.Another unique phenomenon is when a writer tries to analyze many among small children who haven't cultivated an attitude of nationalism or patriotismby their parents this is evident from the songs the children sing a lot of them sing songs welcoming love of the opposite sexeven more deadly many of them don't know the national anthem of the Republic of Indonesia.The author tried to examine this film in the perspective of semiotics Roland Barthes.According to Roland Barthes there are three meanings in the study of semiotics are denotation, connotation and mitos. By formulating a problem formulation is; How can the representation of Islamic Nationalism signs nusantara which is contained in the film "Sang Kyai". This research uses qualitative research using type approach figure KH Hasyim Ash'ari as the driving force of Nahdhatul Ulama (NU) and the founder of the first cottage Tebuireng Jombang. In this study the author uses the analysis of semiotics Roland Barthes, a theory of semiotics examines about signs. The study in this research is the study of linguistic,language is a system of sound arbitrer coat of arms,used by members of a community to work together,interact, and identifyWhile the studies related to the science of signs as well as very useful once semiotik in studies of languagebecause with through signs everything can be interpreted.As for the results of this study indicate that Islamic Nationalism in the movie "Sang Kyai" perspective of semiotics Roland Barthes can be categorized into three are;(1) maintaining the unity and the unity of the country that is described in the corpus of 1, 2 and 3, (2)Cultivating Shura (consultation), which elaborated on the bodies of 4, 5 and 6,(3) the fight for Justice that is described in the corpus 7 and 8.

<p>Mataram kingdom became part of the history of Kraton Yogyakarta, starting from the Giyanti agreement in 1755. Then Mataram kingdom was divided into two regions Solo and Yogyakarta. Each region was headed by one king. The title for the king's Solo palace is Pakubuwono, while the term for the king's palace in Yogyakarta is Hamengkubowono. One of the relics from the palace, which is still preserved until now is <em>blangkon</em>. <em>Blangkon</em> is used as a headgear by the people in the palace. Yogyakarta Blangkon style is different from Solo blangkon style, although this palace used to be one area. Blangkon have a specific pattern that is related to the lifestyle of Javanese community, especially people of the palace. Blangkon is considered as one of artifacts as it has a philosophy of characteristics and identity of Javanese community. This research used qualitative research in the form of literature study. The method used by the authors is by collecting data source: primary data and secondary data. Blangkon will be examined through the used patterns which is connected in the aesthetic paradox. Basically there are kinds of pattern which are called pattern two, three, four, and five. This research is aimed to know and comprehend about figurative language which is used by Jalaluddin Rumi’s quotes. The main problem in this research are to know kinds of figurative language, literal meaning and the dominant of figurative language are found in Jalaluddin Rumi’s quotes. The primary source is from book “The meaningful life with Rumi” which was edited by Abd. Kholiq. There are 212 quotes on it which contain poems and proverbs. The writer analyzes 60 quotes. The second data source is taken from Laurence Perrine, Gorys Keraf and others that are related to the things which are going to be analyzed. This research uses qualitative research method. The data are collected, classified, identified and explained by giving the evidence from the statements. The writer only focuses four types of figurative language that are metaphor, personification, overstatement, and simile. Based on the result of this research, the writer concludes that in Jalaluddin Rumi’s quotes uses figurative language and there is literal meaning. The writer also has found 75 figurative language in Jalaluddin Rumi’s quotes from 60 quotes in the book of “The Meaningful Life with Rumi”. The writer has concluded the most of dominant figurative language which is utilized in Jalaludin Rumi’s quotes is metaphor with the total 23 statements, the second is simile with the total 22 statements, the third is overstatement with the total 16 statements and the last is personification with the total 14 statements. The most of Jalaluddin Rumi’s quotes talk about love, faith, hope, soul, virtue and determination. Keywords: Figurative language; Jalaluddin Rumi’s quotes and Literal meaning.

This article aims to describe the meaning of denotation and connotation in the animated film Amīrat al-Rūm by Hadi Mohammadian using the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes. Barthes explained that in the meaning of the word, there are two parts, denotation, namely the original meaning contained in the dictionary, and connotation, where this meaning involves human emotions and thoughts. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research, and the data source used is the animated film Amīrat al-Rūm by Hadi Mohammadian. The data collection technique uses watching, listening, and translating. Meanwhile, the data analysis is linguistic messages, unencoded iconic messages, and encoded iconic messages. The results of this study indicate that in the animated film Amīrat al-Rūm many dialogues contain denotative and connotative meanings.

This paper will focus on reading al-ra>yah and al-liwa> signs. In its history, the tugging of al-ra>yah and al-liwa> claims as a symbol of the legal identity of the Messenger of Allah has always been a contentious reality. Clearly occupying al-ra> yah and al-liwa> as historical reality and as a result of reading history for later adoption in certain ideologies is very important. The reading of signs in the form of text and visual images to find out the meaning of the construction of al-ra>yah and al-liwa> will offer problem solving for the problems of the people who are being loved by symbolic trends in religious life. Qualitative research with the semiology approach of Roland Barthes with denotative, connotative and mythical systematics. The results of this study provide an overview of the different variations on the reading of the signs that exist in al-ra> yah and al-liwa both as texts and religious symbols. Figurative language is a part of Stylistics and there was much research on how figurative language was used in different contexts. The present research aimed at analyzing the figurative language used in Saudi news headlines related to Coronavirus (COVID-19). A descriptive qualitative research design was used in this study. The data source of this study was the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), and the data were headlines related to Coronavirus (COVID-19) published from the period from February 15 to March 31, 2020. The obtained data from this study were organized, classified, and coded. The findings of this study revealed that there were seven speech figures used in this study ( personification, hyperbole, understatement, paradox, synecdoche, apostrophe, and metonymy). The most used speech figure was personification and the least used one was metonymy. Each type of these speech figures had its own function such as to expand meaning, create intense emotions, and express a lot in a limited space. The researcher provides some recommendations for future research work in order to get more insights and contributions to this topic.
