The article presents experimental data on the detection of antibiotics enrofloxacin and ciprofloxacin in poultry meat. We also analyzed the timing of removal of these antibacterial drugs from the poultry body and assessed the biological safety of products of slaughter of broiler chickens. These studies were conducted in the Syrian Arab Republic. It is established that in the free sale cases of sale of chicken meat containing enrofloxacin are detected. This is probably due to the fact that poultry is slaughtered before treatment is completed. On the contrary, such an antibacterial drug as ciprofloxacin is found in single samples and in minimal concentrations. Comparative data on the accumulation of enrofloxacin in the thoracic and femoral muscles are also provided, and maximum concentrations of this drug in the muscle tissue of broiler chickens are established. It was found that the concentration of ciprofloxacin in samples taken from all four districts is below 18 mcg/ kg, which is below the maximum allowable (100 mcg/kg). The concentration of enrofloxacin in the femoral muscle samples in the fourth district was higher than the maximum permissible limits (100 mcg/kg). In addition, the average concentration of enrofloxacin in the fourth district exceeded the maximum allowed limits without taking into account the average concentration of ciprofloxacin in the same sample. The low concentration of ciprofloxacin compared to enrofloxacin, as well as the absence of high concentrations of the former, may indicate that the bird was not treated with ciprofloxacin, but it could be a product of enrofloxacin metabolism in birds.

The results of researches on the infl uence of new metal and protein compounds in the feeding of rabbits and broiler chickens on the quality of meat have been presented in the paper. The researches have been aimed at solving the urgent problem of providing the population of country with complete-fl edged diets, which today account for up to 30 % of meat products. The paper shows that a lifetime change in the chemical composition and nutritional value of muscle tissue, obtaining functional foods is possible when correcting the micromineral part of the diet of animals through the use of metal and protein complexes Belmin and Chrombelmin. The use of modern research methods allowed us to determine the optimal rate of feeding these feed additives. The results have been shown that the inclusion in the diet of rabbits organic complex Belmin in an amount of 2,0 dose per head/day has increased content in muscle tissue of rabbits of iron (+37,8 %, P < 0,001), copper (+34,66 %, P < 0,001), zinc (+27,01 %, P < 0,001) and essential amino acids (+5,1–0,53 %). Feeding Chrombelmin to broiler chickens as part of compound feed (0,15 %) has increased the level of selenium in the chest muscle by 3 times (P < 0,001), in the femoral muscle – by 1,25 times. The content of manganese, zinc, and chromium changes slightly. In the breast muscle of broilers the lipid content has been increased by 1,37 % (P < 0,05), and in the femoral muscle it decreased by 1,11 % (P < 0,05). The use of metal and protein feed additives Belmin and Chrombelmin in animal husbandry increases productivity, as well as the production of meat products with the increase of content of micronutrients, which will provide the population with not only high-quality, but also useful for health food products.

In Russian market of meat products production of poultry meat occupies more than 47 %. At the same time, the share of poultry products in the total volume of animal protein consumed is 42,1 %, including poultry meat – 27,8 %, eggs – 14,3 %. The quality of the resulting meat is significantly influenced by feeding (feed ingredients, biologically active additives). The purpose of the investigations was to study the influence of compound feed containing Camelina presscake on the chemical composition of broiler muscle tissue. The investigations have been carried out on the basis of the Siberian Scientific and Research Institute of Poultry Farming – a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Omsk Agricultural Research Center” (Morozovka village, Omsk region) on broiler chickens of the cross Sibiryak-2. The results of the investigations on the influence of compound feed with Camelina presscake obtained from seeds of the Siberian selection on the qualitative composition of the muscle tissue of broilers have been presented in the article. The research has been conducted on four groups of broiler chickens from 1 to 42 days of age, in each group there were 100 heads. Camelina presscake was introduced instead of another traditional protein feed to the 1st experimental group – 12,5 %, the 2nd – 15 % and the 3rd experimental group – 20 % with the preservation of the total energy and protein nutrition of the compound feed. It has been found that in the muscles of broiler chickens of the experimental groups the protein content was higher by 0,06–0,73 abs.%, fat by 0,03–0,57 abs.%, energy nutrition higher by 0,03–0,29 MJ/kg. When comparing the amount of macro- and microelements in muscle tissue, the advantage has been noted for most of the studied indicators of poultry of experimental groups that received compound feed with Camelina presscake.

This article presents the results of studying the impact of housing and feeding conditions on broiler chickens of Hubbard RedBro cross, as well as the quality of products obtained when using floor and cage content, in a farm. It established that when receiving a mixed feed of own production using feed raw materials grown on a farm without the use of pesticides, a statistically significant decrease in potentially dangerous substances for animal health is recorded. Compared with factory feed, it has reduced the content of pesticides by 14 times, and mercury and arsenic by 24 times, cadmium by five times, and lead by ten times. The results of the study of economic indicators of growing Hubbard RedBro cross broiler chickens, as well as the chemical composition and quality of carcasses, indicated that there was no significant difference between the floor and cell conditions of keeping. Still, the use of a diet based on eco-feeds contributed to a statistically significant decrease in the concentration of toxic metals in the muscles of the poultry of the experimental groups. As a result, it found that the use of the studied compound feed in the diets of broiler chickens increased the indicators of Biosafety and ensured the production of environmentally safe ("organic") poultry meat products.

Nephrocalcinosis is a 'spontaneous' disorder in rats which refers to the deposition of calcium salts in the kidney, preferably in the corticomedullary region. Studies using defined, semi-purified diets have shown that low dietary concentrations of magnesium, high concentrations of calcium, high concentrations of phosphorus and low calcium: phosphorus ratios induce kidney calcification. Dietary phosphorus induced nephrocalcinosis in female rats is associated with increased kidney size and weight, tubular hyperplasia, fibrosis and increased excretion of albumin in urine. This suggests that nephrocalcinosis may impair kidney function. In rats fed different commercial diets the incidence of nephrocalcinosis can vary considerably. Differences in the degree of nephrocalcinosis in different experiments may negatively influence the comparability of experimental outcome, especially when this is affected by kidney function and structure. Experimental data are needed so that diets can be formulated that do not produce nephrocalcinosis without inducing other disorders.

Heavy metal (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) concentrations were determined by ICP-AES in Ostrea equestris from three beaches (Barra do Furado, Buena, and Ponta do Retiro) on the northern coast of Rio de Janeiro State. The average concentration was 0.8 ± 0.18, 0.4 ± 0.21, 58 ± 25.6, 249 ± 52.3, 11 ± 1.31, 0.55 ± 0.16, 0.13 ± 0.11, and 1131 ± 321 µg.g-1 dry weight for Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn respectively. Significant spatial variation (p < 0.05) between the samples areas occurred for Cr, Pb, and Zn with higher values in Barra do Furado; and for Cu in Ponta do Retiro. Significant temporal variations (p < 0.05) were observed for all metals except Cu. Temporal variability may be related to changes in the inputs of metals associated with suspended particles. Concentrations were similar to those found in areas under low pollution impact, except for Zn, the high concentrations of which probably reflect the physiological characteristics of these organisms.

The effect of dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in association with two vegetable oil sources on the fatty acids of meat and giblets of broiler chickens was evaluated. Two hundred 21-day-old broiler chickens were distributed in a completely randomized factorial design 2 x 5 (two oil sources, soybean or canola oil; and five levels of CLA, 0.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0g/kg). The addition of CLA to the diet resulted in an increase (P<0.05) in CLA deposition in the analyzed tissues. CLA supplementation also reduced (P<0.05) the rate of polyunsaturated to saturated fatty acids in thigh, breast, heart, and gizzard. There was interaction of CLA x oil source (P<0.05). The intake of soybean oil, associated with increasing CLA, resulted in an increase in lipid deposition in edible portions as observed by an increase in the overall content of fatty acids, including CLA, while the use of canola oil, associated with increasing CLA in the diet, resulted in a decrease in lipid content in edible portions, specifically regarding that of saturated fat (P<0.05) in breast meat and liver and in the content of monounsaturated fatty acids (P<0.05) in thigh, breast, liver, and gizzard.

Abstract. Strong atmospheric photochemistry in summer can produce a significant amount of secondary aerosols, which may have a large impact on regional air quality and visibility. In the study reported herein, we analyzed sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium in PM2.5 samples collected using a 24-h filter system at suburban and rural sites near four major cities in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Lanzhou). Overall, the PM2.5 mass concentrations were high (with a mean value of 55–68 gμgm−3), which reflects the long-known particulate pollution in China's large urban centers. We observed very high concentrations of sulfate and nitrate at the Beijing and Shanghai sites, and, in particular, abnormally high levels of nitrate (24-h average concentration up to 42 gμgm−3 and contributing up to 25% of the PM2.5 mass) in the ammonium-poor samples. The Beijing and Shanghai aerosols were characterized by high levels of aerosol acidity (~220–390 nmol m−3) and low levels of in-situ pH (−0.77 to −0.52). In these samples, the formation of the observed high concentrations of particulate nitrate cannot be explained by homogeneous gas-phase reaction between ammonia and nitric acid. Examination of the relation of nitrate to relative humidity and aerosol loading suggests that the nitrate was most probably formed via the heterogeneous hydrolysis of N2O5 on the surface of the moist and acidic aerosols in Beijing and Shanghai. In comparison, the samples collected in Lanzhou and Guangzhou were ammonium-rich with low levels of aerosol acidity (~65–70 nmol m−3), and the formation of ammonium nitrate via the homogeneous gas-phase reaction was favored, which is similar to many previous studies. An empirical fit has been derived to relate fine nitrate to aerosol acidity, aerosol water content, aerosol surface area, and the precursor of nitrate for the data from Beijing and Shanghai.

The study determined the effect of the addition of 15% of camelina, flax, and sunflower seeds to iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous diets for broiler chickens during 21–42 days of age on the nutrient digestibility, production traits, slaughter analysis parameters, hematological indices, blood mineral elements, and dietary value of breast and drumstick meat. Two hundred one-day-old broiler chickens were assigned to four groups (treatments) with five replicates (10 birds per cage, 5 females and 5 males). The experiment lasted 6 weeks. Broiler chickens receiving diets supplemented with camelina and flax seeds exhibited an increase (p < 0.05) in average body weight and a decrease (p < 0.05) in the ether extract content and energy digestibility of the diets. Moreover, the best carcass quality with a high proportion of muscles and low abdominal fat content (p < 0.05) was noted in broilers fed flax- and sunflower-enriched diets. The treatments with the oil seeds reduced the ether extract content and the calorific value of breast and drumstick muscles. The flax seeds contributed to an increase in the Fe content in drumstick muscles. Additionally, some blood parameters were influenced by the flax seed supplementation, e.g., the level of hemoglobin declined (p < 0.05) and the iron level in plasma increased (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that the camelina, flax, and sunflower seeds can be regarded as good dietary components with positive effects on the dietary value of poultry meat.

Old landfill sites contain different hazardous materials like heavy metals which have the ability to affects the entire environment. These places are sometimes covered by plants to increase the stability of the soil and to reduce the effects of erosion. 15 soil samples (3 samples from each place) and 5-7 timothy-grass (Phleum pretense) plants from 5 different places were taken from an old landfill place in an active landfill site in Högbytorp /Sweden owned by Ragn-sells Group Company. XRF scanning was used to analyze the metal content of soil samples and of plants. High concentrations of metals were detected in the soil samples like Fe with an average of about 25000 ppm, Mn about 250 ppm and 2800 ppm of Ti. The plants results showed an average concentration of Fe in the shoots about 730 ppm, Mn about 60 ppm and Ti about 1760 ppm. On the other hand, the roots results showed an average concentration of about 10 000 ppm of Fe, about 160 ppm of Mn and 2200 ppm of Ti. These results gave the indication that the Timothy-grass has the ability to extract metals from contaminated soils and can help to cleanup these soils.
