Background: Diabetes is a chronic non-communicable disease with variable presentation and complications. It is well known that over a period of time complications sets in and causes substantial decrease in the patient’s quality of life (QoL). QoL domains plays and important factor in prediction of outcome of diabetic treatment. Type 2 Diabetics on treatment with oral hypoglycemics and Insulin were included in the study. Socio - demographic profile, laboratory investigations were collected using structured and pretested questionnaire. Quality of life was assessed by WHOQOL-BREF. SPSS 22 version, EPI Info and Open EPI software were used for Statistical analysis. Chi-square and Students t-test were the statistical tests. Results: 59 diabetic subjects were included in Oral and insulin group respectively. Mean age of oral hypoglycemics was 59.6±8.7 years and Insulin group was 61.4±8.2 years. Age and gender were matched between two groups. Glycemic profile was significantly higher in Oral group than in Insulin group. Physical domain was significantly higher (better) in oral group than in Insulin group. Psychological and Social domain was significantly higher (better) in Insulin group. Hence QoL is affected by type of hypoglycaemic agent used among diabetics. Conclusions: Quality of life with respect to physical domain was reduced in Insulin group, were as psychological and social domain was reduced in Oral group.

The samples were taken by using random sampling technique. There were 30 respondents who fit the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Univariate and bivariate with chi square test were used to analyzed the data. Results: (1)There was a correlation between sleep duration and obesity in Nursing students with a value = 0.025.(2) There was no relationship between quality of life and obesity in Nursing students with a value = 0.855. Conclusions: Lack of sleeping can affect the occurrence of overweight to someone but there is no effect on the quality of life to overweight. Severity level is one of the variables used to determine the treatments of acute coronary syndrome patients. There are many ways to see the success of treatment such as measuring the patient’s quality of life. This study aims to determine the correlation between severity level and quality of life among patients with post-acute coronary syndrome at Hasan Sadikin Central Hospital Bandung. This research was a quantitative study with a descriptive-analytic approach. Sampling of 100 patients with post-acute coronary syndrome patients was collected during a period of one month using consecutive sampling technique. The severity was assessed based on the stenosis number and the quality of life data were collected using the MacNew QLMI. Somers’d Gamma was used to analyze the data. Data showed that most of the patients had angina without stenosis (36%) and coronary 1 stenosis (29%). The results of the quality of life measurement show that 58% patients have a good quality of life, 64% are good in the emotional domain, 52% are good in the physical domain, and 60% are good in the social domain. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the effect on quality of life of elderly people enrolled in GAMIA – Multidisciplinary Care Group to Outpatient Elderly Subjects (Grupo de Assistência Multidisciplinar ao Idoso Ambulatorial) of the Geriatric Department, Hospital das Clinicas, Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Sao Paulo. Methods: Between 2000 and 2002, 83 elderly participants of GAMIA were assessed by the World Health Organization Quality of Life scale (WHOQOL-bref) at the beginning and the end of the program. Functionality was assessed by Katz and Lawton scales and sociodemographic data were obtained from medical charts. Results: Females predominated (79.5%) and overall mean age was 69.30 years. Data analysis showed a reduction in the physical domain of WHOQOL-bref (p = 0.014) and increased psychological health and environment domains (p = 0.029 and p = 0.007, respectively), detecting a trend of increase in social relationships and in general domains (p = 0.062 and p = 0.052, respectively). Conclusions: The clinical evaluation of the elderly detected previously unknown diseases and determination of the use of new drugs, which might have been the predominant factor for the deterioration of their perception in the physical domain. Improvement in psychological health and the environment can be related to psychological and social support that the elderly received from peers and professionals and the benefits of group activities, as well as the upward trend observed in social relationships and general domains. Participation in a program to promote healthy aging was effective in improving the quality of life of the elderly.

Efforts that can be made to improve the quality of life of the elderly are by doing physical activity or exercising regularly. This study aims to determine the effect of physical activity on the quality of life of the elderly. Methods: This type of research is quantitative, pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design, using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. The research subjects were 30 people. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. Results: As many as 80% of the subjects were in the age range 66-74 years, 26 subjects were women (53.3%), the latest education was dominated by Bachelor 43.4%. As many as 76.7% are retired civil servants, 70% still have a partner, 26.7% live with a partner and children, and 66.7% are healthy elderly without a history of disease. The results show a positive value and an increase in the mean in each domain. The asymptotic significance values of the pre-post Wilcoxon ranking test on the domain of physical and environmental conditions were 0.000 and 0.003 on psychological conditions and social relationships. Conclusion: The provision of physical activity interventions in the form of flexible exercise for the elderly has a significant impact on improving the quality of life of the elderly.
