Sweet potato plants are generally planted monoculture by farmers, so that the cultivation activities in one season only focus on one commodity and no other mixed commodities. The possibility that occurs when implementing a monoculture cropping system is a failure to harvest or small production results if the plant is attacked by pests or diseases, also less optimal use of the land used. One effort to overcome this problem is the intercropping system. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of empowerment of farmer group members through the application of sweet potato cultivation intercropping with sweet corn plants, analyzing the influential factors and strategies to increase the empowerment of farmer group members through the adoption of sweet potato cultivation intercropping with sweet corn plants. The population of this study was 145 people and 61 samples were taken. Data analysis methods used are descriptive statistical analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, and Kendall's W. analysis. The results of the study show that the level of empowerment of farmer group members in the three research object villages is in the high category of 38 people or (62.30%) of the total overall respondent. The factors that influence the empowerment of farmer group members through the implementation of intercropping are external factors in extension activities. The strategy to increase the empowerment of farmer group members through the implementation of intercropping by carrying out counseling containing material about intercropping and sweet potato cultivation systems.

Mechanization is one form of technology adoption to improve yields in rice farming. The aims of the research to determine the use of agricultural mechanization and its impact on rice farming in Sananwetan Sub-District, Blitar City expected to improve the standard of living and welfare of its group members. The number of samples taken was 50 rice farmers in Sananwetan Sub-District, Blitar City, chosen by using proportional random sampling. Data analysis using the Mann-Whitney Test and the Multiple Linear Regression Cobb Douglas Model. From the results of interviews in this study show that the use of the mechanization of rice farming in Sananwetan Sub-District, Blitar City is still not optimal. This was due to farmers' perceptions of the unsatisfactory results of agricultural machinery performance, a sense of humanity to 'farm laborers', narrow land area and insufficient availability of farm machinery. While from the results of Mann Whitney's test show that pesticide use and labor requirements were smaller and differed significantly in the use of full mechanization rather than partial mechanization. Other than that, the variable cost of the harvest is lower in the use of full mechanization and is significantly different compared to using the mechanism partially. Rice productivity in full mechanization was 782.15 kg / 1000m2 while partial mechanization was 682.87 kg / 1000m2. For farmers' income in full mechanization is IDR. 1,153,407, - per 1000 m2, in the partial mechanization of IDR. 1,590,574, - per 1000m2. From Cobb Douglas model multiple linear regression analysis found that land area (m2), seed costs and the use of mechanization had a significant effect on the income of rice farming in Sananwetan District, Blitar City.

Purpose: Very few studies have examined the influential factors of survivors’ feelings of happiness in the context of nuclear accidents. This paper aims to fill this gap with reference to the recovery process in Fukushima City following the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami in Japan. Methods: Open access data were sourced from the 2015 Social Survey on Living and Disaster Recovery (SSLDR) (N = 1439) of Fukushima citizens. Pearson’s Chi-square Test and the t-test were employed to examine gender differences with regard to happiness and exploratory variables. Following this, a multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to investigate the determinants of happiness. Results: The results showed that, compared to females, male respondents were unhappier and reported more property loss and less neighborhood connectedness. Individuals’ mental and physical health and neighborhood connectedness were found to be significantly correlated with their happiness. However, the disaster-related variables of people’s evaluation of recovery achievement, concerns around the health impacts of radiation, property loss in the disaster, and experiences of casualty, had no effects on happiness. Conclusion: These findings indicate that policies and countermeasures dealing with disaster recovery over the long term should continuously focus on health issues and social relationships.

Rubber is a forestry plant producing sap. Rubber latex is needed for various industrial purposes. Rubber is a side business as well as additional income for the community besides farming in Banua Tengah Village. The method used is a survey method with interview techniques. Sampling was done intentionally (purposive sampling). The number of samples taken was 61 respondents who were ; rubber farmers, married, worked tapping rubber and owning rubber plantations. Data analysis consists of calculating total income and multiple linear regression analysis. The analysis results obtained total income / Tr received by farmers around Rp. 390,000 - Rp. 2,840,500 / month, when compared to the UMR established by the Government in 2018, UMR Kapuas Hulu Regency is Rp. 2,204,650.00 / month, there are 2 (two) farmers who have an income above the minimum wage while 59 other farmers are still under the UMR There are four factors that influence the income of rubber farmers in Desa Banua Tengah namely land area, work experience, rubber age and workdays, of the four most influential factors are land area and workday variables, while the work experience and rubber age variables are not very influential. Factors of land area, work experience, rubber age and working days together greatly affect farmers' incomes with the equation of total income of rubber farmers as follows: ln Y =  9,817 +  0,397 ln X1 + 0,098 ln X2 + 0,061 ln X3 + 1,194 ln X4 Correlation value R = 0.928 and the value of determination R2 = 0.861 From these equations obtained a constant value of 9,817 which shows that income from rubber farmers (Ŷ) in Desa Banua Tengah is Rp. 9,817 if X₁, X₂, X3 and X4 are considered zero. Ŷ is positively correlated with X₁, X₂, X3 and X4.Keywords: Influential factors, Latex, Rubber farmers, Total income

The study was conducted to analyze constraints to adoption of sweet potato processing technologies among actors in South East, Nigeria. Questionnaire was used to collect data from a sample of eighty (80) respondents used for the study. Data were analyzed using mean score, standard deviation, factor analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Results indicated that sex, educational level, marital status, processing experience and access to extension service had a positive influence on the adoption of sweet potato processing technologies in the study area. The respondents were highly constrained by inadequate processing machines/equipment (=2.88), high cost of processing produce (=2.86), inadequate knowledge of modern sweet potato processing techniques (=2.84), inadequate capital for start-off (=2.84), high cost of labor (=2.83), poor credit facilities (=2.80) and scarcity of processing materials like sweet potato tubers (=2.43). These variable constraints were further subjected to factor analysis and the variables were named technical and infrastructural factors. It is recommended that processors should be encouraged to form cooperative society to enable them to pool their resources together to obtain credit facilities and sweet potato labour saving processing technologies in order to increase productivity. There is also a need for creation of awareness by extension agents, public health agencies, nutritionists and non-governmental organizations on the usefulness of orange fleshed sweet potato in addressing Vitamin A Deficiency Syndrome.

Activation of PPARD has been shown to inhibit depressive behaviors and enhances neurogenesis. However, whether PPARD is involved in the pathological development of major depressive disorder (MDD) is largely unknown. To explore the potential connection between PPARD and MDD, we first conducted a literature-based data mining to construct a PPARD-driven MDD regulating network. Then, we tested the PPARD expression changes in MDD patients from 18 independent MDD RNA expression datasets, followed by coexpression analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, and a heterogeneity analysis to study the influential factors for PPARD expression levels. Our results showed that overexpression of PPARD could inhibit inflammatory cytokine signaling pathways and the ROS and glutamate pathways that have been shown to play important roles in the pathological development of MDD. However, PPARD could also activate nitric oxide formation and ceramide synthesis, which was implicated as promoters in the pathogenesis of MDD, indicating the complexity of the relationship between PPARD and MDD. PPARG presented significant within- and between-study variations in the 18 MDD datasets ( p value = 0.97), which were significantly associated with the population region (country) and sample source ( p < 2.67 e − 5 ). Our results suggested that PPARD could be a potential regulator rather than a biomarker in the pathological development of MDD. This study may add new insights into the understanding of the PPARD-MDD relationship.
