The current state of the Moscow Metro station of the first priority that became operational in 1935 does not allow it to be called a cultural heritage site. This is due to the fact that lighting modernisation carried out by the Moscow Metro was based on fluorescent lamps. Such lamps are more energy efficient compared to incandescent lamps, which were used in original lighting devices specified in the Station Lighting Project developed by architects and designers. However, they significantly changed the station appearance, transforming the originally designed station with entire well visible architectural tectonics?1 from the standpoint of lighting into a simple, flat, unremarkable, and little loaded station of the Moscow Metro./br> This paper describes a method of lighting reconstruction at Krasnoselskaya station by means of original lighting devices that meet modern standards and requirements for cultural heritage sites. The historical analysis on the development of the station lighting environment was conducted during its operation in order to understand what kind of station was conceived by its architects, what changes occurred with its lighting over time, and how it influenced the station appearance and safety of passenger transportation.

The object of this paper is one of the most ancient palaces of Naples, Palazzo Penne, a fourteenth-century residential building located on a small high ground which originally was in the outer fringe of the built up area in a privileged position enabling to enjoy the landscape and gulf beauty. This building, which today is in the heart of the historical center, was the subject of an extensive analysis and documentary research, as well as of metric laser scanner survey carried out by the group researchers working at the Interdepartmental Centre of Research Urban Eco of the University of Naples Federico II.

Starting from scan to bim systems the creation of a parametric model of the current state of the building is completed, by bringing the point cloud elements back to objects to which historical and construction data can be associated.

Moreover starting from acquired data, the 3D model shows the reconstructive hypothesis of the original structure and the virtual reconstruction of the building based on traces found on-site and on the comparison with coeval creations allowing to properly hypothesize the design of point features.

Despite its architectural fame, the medieval city of Ani in eastern Turkey, once an Armenian capital on the Silk Road, was endangered until recently. Preserving the Medieval City of Ani: Cultural Heritage between Contest and Reconciliation traces the evolution of Ani since the late nineteenth century as an object of preservation and the subject of debate about heritage. As a primarily non-Muslim site in a modern, majority-Muslim country, Ani poses dilemmas shared by other cultural heritage sites in postconflict societies: it presents economic opportunity through tourism, but its history prompts questions about a painful recent past the state refuses to acknowledge. Analyzing the recent developments in cultural heritage management in Turkey involving international heritage organizations, especially for Christian and Armenian monuments, and highlighting the civil society debate about rediscovering long-suppressed episodes of Turkish history, Heghnar Zeitlian Watenpaugh argues that despite daunting difficulties beleaguering acknowledgment of the past, cultural heritage can provide a medium for reconciliation rather than contestation.

Modeling, as an instrument of architectural design, delineates boundaries for new ideas and establishes a framework for approaching the unknown. Those boundaries, however, often leave out elements of the design process and the larger context of the project. This is a particularly critical issue when dealing with architectural heritage sites with complex histories and multiple identities. As part of a larger research project dealing with the representation of cultural heritage, in this paper I pose the question: How can digital modeling embody the intangible dimensions of architectural production?

The treatment of movable and immovable heritage is markedly different. While movable objects are highly valued and carefully protected, their immovable equivalents are often under a serious cloud of threat. This peril is the result of global mismanagement, failure of governments to provide adequate funds for their maintenance, and lack of recognition by the public that these disappearing resources are assets of major value. Conservators of immovables face special ethical and practical concerns in their efforts to preserve cultural heritage within its context - depicted in this article as case histories from the World Monuments Watch list of endangered sites. The legal and procedural mechanisms that support this task are ineffectual in the face of rapid change. The field needs new methodologies that harness public appreciation of a site's 'sense of place' to guarantee its future.

Universities are playing an increasingly important role in the development of innovative technologies, so the subject of university scientific research results implementation is extremely important. Obviously, the mechanisms for innovations commercialization need to be reformed by identifying weaknesses and growth factors, analyzing statistical data arrays, and comparing the findings with the subjective understanding of the current situation. After counting statistics in accordance with the current state of the economy and conducting polls, key issues in the current situation for commercialization were formulated. Patent activity was reviewed for classical universities. We have discovered that for the execution of the “third mission” in universities, it is necessary to form media field of innovation, develop the concept of innovative structures interaction, motivate students and staff, and use the potential of student associations. The results of the analysis have practical interest and need approbation in universities’ centers for technological transfer.

The modern idea of reconstruction, restoration and protection of monuments is not limited to attention to outstanding architectural monuments, as well as the historical and cultural heritage of the urban environment. An architectural monument is a work of historical, scientific, artistic and cultural value that has retained sufficient completeness of architectural forms for protection or restoration. The main purpose of the restoration of the monument is to preserve its historical authenticity. Through the reconstruction and restoration of monuments, the country attracts investors and develops tourism. Thus, the preservation and restoration of monuments can play a significant role in shaping modern society, as described by famous thinkers and writers. Cultural and architectural heritage sites are important assets that can be profita-ble and significantly affect the economic development of cities. Monuments of archi-tecture, culture and history are important to preserve not only because of their uniqueness, but also because they have historical and economic value for the state.
