Vadim Markovich Rozin

This article reviews the polemic of the author with a number of well-known psychologists who consider L. S. Vygotsky a humanities scholar, and that the book “Psychology of Art” introduces psychologists to the humanities. The author clarifies his position, trying to show that in his methodological projects L. S. Vygotsky adheres to the natural scientific approach; however, in some works he actually does think as a humanist. The author also casts doubt on Vygotsky's concept of art, demonstrating that the offered mechanisms of aesthetic response and interpretation of literary works are problematic or unsatisfactory. In this regard, analysis is conducted on the position of V. Sobkin, which differs significantly from the views of L. S. Vygotsky. The author offers the original interpretation of art, which implies the three aspect: sociocultural that analyzes artistic communication; related to the philosophy of subjectivity (life from the perspective of an artist, viewer, or reader); and analysis of artistic reality, which includes consideration of the literary language and events. The author elucidates the corresponding concepts and problems that appear in such art task. For better understanding of the proposed ideas, the author reviews the examples from the “Psychology of Art” by L. S. Vygotsky, and cites a case from the own works. The discrepancy with L. S. Vygotsky he views as an motive to continue his research and the need for their critical reflection.

Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) refers to some kind of text analysis, including an analysis of literary language. Some research has verified the study of the literary text using this linguistic apparatus; however the use of SFL in literary text analysis is relatively rare. Therefore, this study investigated the contributions of SFL to literary text analysis. The data of the study were 20 scientific articles focusing on literary text analysis using SFL. The analysis used content analysis to expose the segments of the story analyzed and the components of SFL to analyze them. The findings showed that the method of analysis using SFL on the literary text has brought new perspectives to the researchers, and provided some possible future studies in literary works. Moreover, the study of literary texts is regarded not merely as interpretative practices but as explanatory categories for each segment of a literary text.

This article touches upon the research, which employing comparative historical approach has been carried on about the instrument-togetherness (instrumental) case – the seventh case of noun, which is used in most of the Turkic languages, but has been removed from grammar books after becoming archaic in the Azerbaijani literary language. This case, having kept its place in the history of development of the Azerbaijani language is still evident in stabilised state within some lexical units through the suffixes –ın, in, which are the morphological indicators of the instrumental case. As postpositions birlə, bilə, ilə, -la, -lə denote togetherness, this has caused the expulsion of the instrumental case from among the case paradigm. This article uses the samples selected from the XV century literary works, analyzes the morphological indicators of this ancient case, and compares them to the sources in other Turkic languages.

AbstractIn the past, Western academic astronomy has conceived in a very specific way its interests. However, in recent decades there has been a promising openness to the rest of the society, in the context of areas such as education, heritage and outreach. Despite this, there has not been an adequate scientific approach to do it, which would imply taking into account the social sciences and a truly interdisciplinary perspective. Here we want to develop the idea that this interdisciplinary approach already exists and it is called: Cultural Astronomy. Unfortunately, in the context of academic astronomy it has been only seen as a study of the “astronomies of others”, intended as previous stages or failed attempts of Western academic astronomy. We will seek to show that Cultural Astronomy, as a critical reflection on the social character of the astronomical knowledge, is key to the success of these opening efforts.

he article presents the results of a study on the contribution of Anastas Granitski, one of the most active translators of popular and widely read literary works, to building the structural basis and spelling and language norms of the Bulgarian literary language of the Revival period. The subject of observation is a part of the translation of the 1858 Тръговско рѫководство (Commercial Guidebook) titled За тръговско писмописанїе (On Commercial Letter Writing), a practical guide for keeping business correspondence. The author analyses nouns with respect to the categories of gender, number, case and definiteness/indefiniteness. The study of the forms helps to identify the original works the translator complied with: the grammars by Neofit Rilski (1835) and Ivan Bogorov (1844). Keywords: Bulgarian Revival, modern Bulgarian literary language, linguistic and spelling norms, nouns

The never-ending Work on Concepts – Illustrated with the Concept of ›Mündigkeit‹ A scientific approach to pedagogical topics and questions operates with ›concepts‹ that are somewhat constitutive for its own field of research. These concepts refer to systematic, historically developed relations which are still in the process of becoming. Doing justice to the claim to scientific validity, a critical reflection of the genesis and systematics of the concepts used is presupposed; if it does not happen, a scientific discussion inevitably runs the risk of becoming imprecise – losing its own content. Therefore, a critical reflexion of concepts such as ›Mündigkeit‹ has to be inherent in any scientific work and is to be thought of as the task of a self-reflexive science.

The article discusses the results of a pilot sociolinguistic experiment. Its purpose was to study the ideas of speech culture among high school students using questionnaires. The objectives of the study included the identification of the value-based attitude of informants towards the speech ideal and the carriers of “exemplary speech”, opinions of the level of contemporary youth speech culture, as well as shortcomings and values of modern Russian speech. The questionnaire included high school students’ assessment of language innovations and specific facts of word use, including the norms of the literary language that went beyond the norm boundaries. The survey was conducted among high school students of Omsk and the Omsk region. It was found that, for informants, public media people most often act as carriers of exemplary speech, among which TV presenters, writers, and cultural professionals have a priority. At the same time, 14 % of respondents found it difficult to “personify” their speech ideal in relation to modern speech. Moreover, the results of the experiment showed young people prioritize such characteristics of speech culture as compliance with the norms of the literary language, effectiveness and ethics of speech. At the same time, the experiment revealed the influence of stereotypes about “language clogging with foreign words” perpetuated by Russian media. The author considers the relevance of a scientific approach to understanding language development for high school linguo-didactic practice

This article discusses the wide range of possibilities of the old Uzbek language in the example of Navoi's work led linguists to study the linguistic features of the poet's legacy on a deep scientific basis, which led to theoretical conclusions about the phonetic-phonological, morpheme-morphological, lexical-semantic and syntactic levels of the old Uzbek literary language. For today's linguists, it is important to study the lexical structure of literary works before Navoi, to compare the lexicon of the ancient Turkic language, the Old Turkic language and the old Uzbek language, to study the history of the Uzbek language. Identifying semantic differences in the semantics of synonymous lexemes, the works of A. Navoi serve as one of the main sources in the study of the historical roots of the Uzbek language, as well as in the study of the lingvo-poetic potential of language units. The lingvo-poetic possibilities of assimilation synonyms used pleonastically in a verse or byte further clarify these views.

The current study proposes to give an insight about iconic note as a concept of motivation in literary language applied on one of the prominent novels in African- American literature which is Morrison's Sula. Iconic property is considered as one of the prominent principles in motivation of language in which there is a similarity between form and concept. The  study of the iconic note in literary works has become significant after the emergence of modernist in arts and literature whereas prior to that, Iconic note as a source of motivation was considered as  salient characteristic of primitive language and poetic language only. The problem of the study will explain how Morrison's text constructed to decline from the concept of arbitrariness and to meet the concept of motivation. By achieving the objective of the research, the study will focus on two important tropes which are metaphor and metonymy  and how they co-occur in literary text to serve as ingredients of iconic perspective of motivated language.

This research finds that there are many people use negative and discriminative character toward the woman relating with their bodies and sexuality in language and literary works. In fact, the character and imagewhich arise are based on the language and culture which the works have been produced. The idea of sexuality and the body in literary works always meet to the reality, social, politic, and cultural affair so that it often forgetthe women's experience as the author and the readers. Moreover, the rule of Arabic language tends to be discriminative, producing myth, symbol, and negative image toward the woman. Since Arabic language containing bias gender creates binary opposition, namely feminine and masculine, the literary language tends to be discriminative. The research finds that thesanctity of men masculinity in ARabic culture transforms the ideology and idea of oatriarchal which are andocentric in  literary works. The use of Arabic metaphorical language of gender in the style of literary writing has an effect in the emergence of stereotype, interpretation, and the dichotomy translation, which trap readers in the nuance of patriarchy and patriarkhi.
