Data Labs is one of the elements of the data center and has been owned by almost all organizations in the special library environment for government and private institutions, on behalf of the data and information center. The term, data labs, become the focus of the study in its function to maximize the use of data (reusable data) in institutional repositories and generally managed by special libraries. The discussion focuses on material that answers the function/role of a special library as data labs; current and future challenges; how information professionals respond to these challenges; as well as how to see the potential of the collections and content they have. Survey analysis and data collection through depth-interviews are a form of research approach in this study. Based on the results of the study, it was found that most of the respondents had played a part in supporting the openness of data in their institutions, and had some of the functions of data labs. There are several things that need to be considered further, namely the points for the roles they have (digital divide, data management, and knowledge workers), challenge points (policies and data openness ecosystem), response points (targeted-groups, business processes, action plans, and skill-upgrade), as well as points for the potential collections and content owned by the institutions (advocacy, needs analysis, open data principles, and inclusiveness). The research results are expected to be the basis for policy in determining the position of special libraries with data labs functions to support institutions’ performance. So it can be concluded that in supporting the transformation of this function, it is necessary to provide competent employees in accordance with the needs for the future development of data repository content, as well as in line with government programs and the global community related to data transparency and governance in Indonesia.

Childhood is the most important period in teaching good habits to children for the growth of their mindset. One of the good habits that can be taught is reading books. Reading books from an early age can develop children's imagination so that it has a positive impact on their creative level for the present to the future. In response to this, of course, we need a special forum to facilitate reading activities especially for children. In Kota Banjarbaru itself, there is no special library for children, only a children's service from the Banjarbaru City Regional Library. The purpose of designing this children's library is as a learning support center as well as educational activities and recreational facilities for children with an age limit of 2-13 years through activities that teach skills and insights that are in accordance with the characteristics of the child, which can attract children's reading interest in the city of Banjarbaru. The main thing that is applied in the design of the children's library in the city of Banjarbaru is that the building has the flexibility for its users to easily and quickly adjust. The method used in designing children's libraries in the city of Banjarbaru uses a behavioral architecture approach as a consideration in designing to direct behavior and accommodate it and answer all problems that arise in the design process. Behavioral architecture is an architecture whose application includes behavioral considerations in the design. Because the main actors of the activity are dynamic children, the concept used is spatial flexibility.

The term dissemination has now become a general term used as a synonym of “dissemination”. This study focuses on the analysis of research data management in the knowledge repository in a special library of non-ministerial government institutions consisting of LIPI, BPPT, BATAN, BAPETEN, LAPAN and BSN.The research was conducted using descriptive methods, namely by describing and interpreting a phenomenon that develops by using scientific procedures to actually answer the problem. Data collection was carried out through interviews and surveys of repository managers. The results showed that the LPNK Special Library of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education had mostly collected research data stored in the knowledge repository by means of direct input in the national scientific repository (RIN). Developing a knowledge repository in a special library is done because of the need to store data and research work in one place. The knowledge repository serves as a digital storage provider for long-term data storage and scientific work. The knowledge repository can make it easier for users to browse or reference data and the work of other researchers. The availability of knowledge repositories can also facilitate interdisciplinary learning and research. The obstacle in managing research data is that researchers have so far not paid enough attention, especially in terms of research data backup. There is a lack of trust from data owners to share their data because there is no legality, infrastructure and clear management. Libraries do not require researchers to store data in knowledge repositories and there is no government regulation that regulates inter-institutional research data management.

The mission of the special library for government agencies is to provide library material and access to information for the parent institution, while one of its functions is to develop collections that support the performance of the parent institution so that the library plays an important role in research activities at the Center for the Conservation of Plants-Bogor Botanical Gardens (PKT-KRB) LIPI. The natural beauty of Papua attracts researchers both from within and outside the country to conduct research on its biodiversity, including researchers from PKT-KRB LIPI, therefore libraries are supposed to provide a collection of plants in Papua that can be used as a reference for research activities. The purpose of this study is to provide information about the library collections in PKT-KRB LIPI, especially those related to plants in Papua. Through literature study, the author explores the collections in the library to find out what collections are contained in the library which contains information on plants in Papua to be discussed in detail. The results of the study show that the number of collections containing information on plants in Papua in the period of publication from 1985-2019 includes: 17 books, 10 travel reports, and 6 proceedings. Suggestions for further study are to focus on one of the endemic plants in Papua with literature studies not only on collections in the library but extending to the results of research by PKT-KRB LIPI research staff.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify the core competencies for librarians working in special libraries. It also measures the competencies of librarians working in special libraries of the Punjab Province against the checklist developed by the Special Library Association (SLA) Task Force. The study also identifies the training needs of librarians working in special libraries and the problems they face in acquiring SLA competencies. Design/methodology/approach A peer-reviewed questionnaire based on the list of competencies for special librarians prepared by the SLA Task Force was used to collect quantitative data from a targeted population. An online survey was administered to approach the population working in special libraries of Punjab Province. Collected data was analyzed statistically through SPSS software. Findings A review of literature highlighted the various competencies for librarians working in special libraries (Figure 1). The findings of the study showed that the competencies identified by SLA Task Force are imperative for librarians working in special libraries of Punjab Province. The results showed that librarians working in special libraries of Punjab possessed an intermediate level of competencies identified by the SLA. However, they had a good level of basic professional and interpersonal skills. The study highlights the training needs of librarians working in special libraries to enable them in acquiring relevant competencies. Research limitations/implications The study measures the competencies of librarians in special libraries of the Punjab Province. During the data collection phase, it was observed that there were some libraries where the non-professional/supporting staff was deputed, and due to this, data could not be collected from these libraries. Practical implications This study has practical implications for librarians and information professionals working in special libraries to acquire the relevant competencies identified by the SLA. This study has identified various competencies areas that are essential for librarians working in special libraries. Social implications Librarians working in any special library can use the results of this study as a checklist to improve their competencies level and work efficiently. Originality/value In contrast to other studies conducted on professional competencies of library professionals working in academic libraries, this study particularly identifies and measures the competencies of librarians working in special libraries.
