Depression is commonly found in stage 5 CKD patients. However, depression in HD patients is usually neglected, underdiagnosed, and remains untreated. Duration of HD is reported to be significantly correlated with depression. Previously, there were several similar studies with varying results. This study is needed to detect depression and give early intervention to reduce hospitalization rates and patient mortality. This study aims to find the correlation between the duration of hemodialysis and depression in CKD patients. A cross-sectional was carried out on 52 patients with CKD undergoing HD in Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital using consecutive sampling. Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) questionnaire was used to measure the depression score. Data were analyzed with the Pearson correlation test. This study showed a significant negative correlation between the duration of hemodialysis and depression (p =0.005, p > 0,05; r= -0.094). Duration of hemodialysis was significantly correlated with depression. The longer duration of hemodialysis, the lower score of depression. Periodic evaluation of HD patients for depression is needed for early intervention to reduce morbidity.

Bed bugs, Cimex hemipterus (Hemiptera: Cimicidae) are small insects that are considered public health pests and cause many health and economic problems. The efficacy of Organophosphorus insecticides (Safrotin and Actikill) and pyrethroids (Project and Cyper Safe) in controlling C. hemipterus adults and nymphs were investigated using contact and dipping methods. The WHO protocol was followed for insecticides application. The results of the current study showed that the project pesticide from the pyrethroids group gave the highest effectiveness against bed bugs, as the value of the concentration that killed 50% (LC50) of insects was of the adults (264.8, 337.5 ppm) when using dipping and contact methods, respectively. while the LC50 value when applying the two methods of the same insecticide against nymphs was 254.7 and 329.3ppm, respectively. However, Safrotin the more effective organophosphorus insecticide. The dipping method was more effective than the contact method for all insecticides, and the nymphs were more susceptible than the adults (LC50= 1502.6 and 1065.28ppm). The pesticides can be arranged in descending order according to their effect as follows: Project> Cyper Safe > Safrotin > Actikill. Our findings suggest that bed bugs in Jeddah Province may have developed resistance to common pesticides used in public health pest management programs. For this reason, this study recommends a periodic evaluation of the effectiveness of pesticides to be used during emergency pest outbreaks

Batu Buruk beach has been gazetted as a non-smoking zone by the Minister of Health under the initiative of Terengganu state government via their program known as ‘Terengganu Bebas Asap Rokok’ (TBAR). The smoking bans at Batu Buruk was enforced in order to preserve and protect the public from the dangers of cigarette smoke as well as to keep the city's environment clean and healthy. The objectives of this study were to assess the status of compliance to legislation and identify the potential aspects of violations in Batu Buruk, Terengganu, a gazetted smoke-free area. A cross-sectional study using direct observation was conducted includes all indoor and outdoor public areas in Batu Buruk Beach. Data were collected using a standard checklist which was constructed based on the provisions of the law governing exposure to tobacco smoke as stated in Control for Tobacco Products Regulation (CTPR) 2004. The study revealed that the average overall compliance with smoke-free policy was low (66.2%). The average compliance for indoor (67.4%) was higher as compared with outdoor (58.9%). Thirteen smokers were discovered smoking outdoor in the area during the study. None of the owners provides smoking aid at their premises. Although the beach has been gazetted as a non-smoking zone for more than two years, it is disappointing that overall compliance was still minimal and smoking activities are still happening in the area. Along with intense health promotion activities, continuous enforcement, close monitoring and periodic evaluation would improve and ensure the successfulness of the programme.

Abstract Objective Beta(β)-thalassemia is one of the most common hereditary hematologic disorders. Patients with thalassemia minor (TM) are often asymptomatic and the rate of renal dysfunction is unknown in these patients. Due to the high prevalence of renal dysfunction in Iran, the current study aimed to determine renal tubular dysfunction in patients with beta-TM. Methods In this case-control study, 40 patients with TM and 20 healthy subjects were enrolled and urinary and blood biochemical analysis was done on their samples. Renal tubular function indices were determined and compared in both groups. Data was analyzed by SPSS software, version 20.0. Results The fraction excretion (FE) of uric acid was 8.31 ± 3.98% in the case and 6.2 ± 34.71% in the control group (p = 0.048). Also, FE of potassium was significantly higher in patients with TM (3.22 ± 3.13 vs. 1.91 ± 0.81; p = 0.036). The mean Plasma NGAL level was 133.78 ± 120.28 ng/mL in patients with thalassemia and 84.55 ± 45.50 ng/mL in the control group (p = 0.083). At least one parameter of tubular dysfunction was found in 45% of patients with thalassemia. Conclusion Based on the results of this study, the prevalence of tubular dysfunction in beta-thalassemia minor patients is high. Due to the lack of knowledge of patients about this disorder, periodic evaluation of renal function in TM patients can prevent renal failure by early diagnosis.

Indonesia is an equatorial country which has a high population density. Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics in 2010 stated that of the total population of 237.6 million, including teenagers aged 10-24 years as much as 27.6 percent. The number of Indonesian adolescents based on the projection of Indonesia's population from 2010 to 2035 in 2018 will reach around 66.3 million (25.6%) of the total population. Based on this, the government must try to control the very high population growth rate. In this study, the authors used a qualitative descriptive research method. The results of the research are the role of an ambassador for the planning generation in disseminating the BKKBN program to the community, especially to adolescents in North Sumatra in order to prepare family life for adolescents to realize a prosperous family, then the target material that must be conveyed by the ambassadors for the planning generation is adolescent reproductive health, PKBR (Preparation of Family Planning for Youth), Life Skill, GenRe Program, Population, and other materials related to the BKKBN program. to the ambassador to maximize the targets and vision and mission to be achieved. In the aspect of completeness of information, it needs to be evaluated in order to provide the information needed by adolescents so that they still get mutual support to achieve the target of holding a periodic evaluation activity to measure the success of achieving their targets.

Thyroid function disorders are among the most common endocrine diseases. Thyroid disorders can cause certain forms of anemia, more commonly in hypothyroidism. Slightly decreased TLC, relative neutropenia, relative lymphocytosis or relative eosinophilia may be found in thyroid disorders. These observations confirmed the association between thyroid gland dysfunction and hemopoiesis.1) To study the pattern of hematological changes in thyroid dysfunction 2) To correlate thyroid function tests with complete blood count & red cell indices findings 3) To correlate complete blood count investigations and peripheral blood smear findings with serum TSH levels. It was an Observational study conducted during 18 months of period from March 2018 to October 2019 with 100 subjects of hypothyroidism, 80 subjects of hyperthyroidism and 100 euthyroid subjects as control group. CBC was done on automated cell counter. PBS was stained with Leishman stain and observed under microscope. TFTwas done by immunoassay method. It was done with SPSS Software.: Predominance of female was seen in hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Significant decrease was seen in RBC, Hb, HCT, MCV and MCH in hypothyroid group, while in hyperthyroid group RBC, Hb and HCT were significantly decreased as compared with euthyroid control group. Both groups showed significant increase in RDW as compared with control group. It is important to carefully evaluate the thyroid hormones in cases of unexplained anemias. So, periodic evaluation for probable hematological changes should be done in all the patients with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

serovars Typhi and Paratyphi are known to cause enteric fever. Multidrug resistance in and has emerged as a cause of concern. To evaluate antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of Salmonella enteric serovar Typhi () and obtained from blood culture.: All isolates obtained from blood cultures of clinically suspected cases of enteric fever coming to microbiology laboratory, Nirmal hospital, from January 2015 to September 2017 were included in the study. Antimicrobial susceptibility patterns were determined using commercial antimicrobial disks chloramphenicol (30 μg), nalidixic acid (30 μg), ampicillin (10 μg), azithromycin (15 μg), cotrimoxazole (1.25/23.75 μg), ciprofloxacin (5 μg), and ceftriaxone (30 μg). Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed in accordance with the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines of respective year by KirbyBauer disc diffusion method.: Total 330 isolates of salmonella are there out of that 298 is . 32 are Salmonella para A, while 1 is of Salmonella para B. Enteric fever cases pick month are April, May, June and July. Sensitivity to first line drugs are > 80%, Nalidixic acid resistant Salmonella (NARS) are 79%, while Multi drug resistant (resistant to ampicillin, chloramphenicol and co-trimoxazole all three)Salmonella are 3%.: Periodic evaluation of antibiotic susceptibility pattern is necessary to see changing pattern of antibiotics. Evaluation of Nalidixic acid resistant Salmonella and periodic evaluation of multi drug resistant Salmonella is also important as emergence of MDR strain is observed in our study.

Introduction: The most common lesions of jugular vein dilatation are aneurysms and ectasia. A jugular vein aneurysm is less common compare to an arterial aneurysm in adults.  Because of the rare incidence, treatment guidelines primarily associated with the timing of surgery are not clearly established. Proper treatment can reduce patient complaints without excessive intervention. Case report: A 54 years old woman complained of swelling in the right neck that started three years ago and cephalgia for two years. From CT angiography, we obtained a jugular vein dilatation of 2.3 cm. During periodic evaluation from ultrasonography doppler, there is no increase in the size of the jugular vein. Conclusion: Jugular vein aneurysm presenting in adults is an infrequent phenomenon. It is a benign condition, and conservative observation is advised.  It should be operated only if symptomatic or progressive enlarging. A periodic examination must be done to evaluate the size of the jugular vein before a surgical decision
