Improving the tillage methods, machines and equipment to increase their efficiency is an urgent task. Tillage implements should provide high-quality tillage, save energy and improve the yielding capacity of cultivated crops. The study purpose was to obtain the experimental data, which would reveal the variation patterns of energy parameters and agrotechnical indicators of the tillage implement operation, and to identify the rational operation modes under specific operating environment. The study object was the developed tillage implement with ring working tools PM-2/DK for pre-seeding tillage. The study subject was to obtain the variation patterns in energy and agrotechnical indicators of the designed modification of the tillage implement with the ring working tools teamed with MTZ-920 tractor. The study used the modern methods of theory and experimentation to identify the main quality indicators of the technological process of surface tillage, as well as to determine the energy parameters of the machine, to generalize them, and to analyze the experimental data obtained. The variation patterns of energy and agrotechnical indicators were revealed, the rational operation modes of the tillage implement were justified, namely, working speed V=2.8-3.3 m/s; installation angle of the ring working tools α=15-22°; energy inputs of the technological process Ei = 373.80-431.18 MJ/ha.

To develop elements of a system for contact-free transportation of objects in space has now become an urgent task for the contemporary space-related activities. The purpose of work that is presented hereinafter was to conduct ground tests of the ion source, which is a key element of the above-mentioned system, and to compare the obtained experimental data with the mathematical simulation results in order to build a refined physical and mathematical model of the ion source. Such model was built on the basis of the classical problem regarding the motion of charged particles in an electrostatic field. Parameters of the ion source have been determined experimentally for several operating modes using various structural designs of the ion source electrodes. Two types of ion optics were tested—with slit and round apertures. Good correlation between simulation results and experimental data has been demonstrated. The optimum ion source operation modes have been identified to ensure minimum divergence angles for the plasma beam exiting from the ion source, which in its turn maximizes the pulse transmitted to the transported object.

Creating and maintaining a microclimate in animal housing is an energy-intensive technological process that consumes up to 70 percent of the thermal energy consumed on cattle farms. Improving heating and ventilation systems aimed at reducing energy consumption is an urgent task. (Research purpose) The research purpose is to analyze the theoretical models for calculating air curtains and evaluate the possibility of their use for agricultural production facilities and to identify promising directions in the design solutions for thermal air curtains aimed at rural consumers. (Materials and methods) The article considers the theoretical justification and calculation of air curtains. The authors studied the physical model of interaction of air jets in openings, which serves as the basis for mathematical calculation of air curtains in engineering practice. The article describes the features of using the models for calculating air curtains for agricultural objects and the energy parameters of the curtains depending on the design characteristics and external environmental factors. (Results and discussion) The effect of the air curtain on the energy characteristics of the room has been studied. It was found that it is necessary to determine the type of air curtain that is optimally suitable for protecting the gate opening, with or without heating the air curtain. Authors have found that the engineering methods of calculation are based on different experimental data, which leads to a discrepancy in the results of evaluating the effectiveness of the designed curtain, overestimating its energy intensity and power. The calculation of heat curtains, operating modes should be carried out taking into account the variable effects of external physical factors, the equipment should correspond to a specific room. (Conclusions) The use of air curtains reduces or eliminates the penetration of external cold air into the room through the openings of external gates, requires a smaller volume of air supplied by the curtain, compared to the mass of the incoming air flow.

Geometry and energy parameters of the individual dissociation intermediate steps of CH4 molecule, parameters of the barrier to linearity and singlet-triplet separation of the CH2 molecule have been calculated by means of the UMP method in the minimum basis set augmented with the bond functions. The results agree well with experimental data except for the geometry of CH2(1A1) and relatively high energy values of CH(2II) and CH2(1A1) where the existence of two UHF solutions indicates a necessity of description of the electronic correlation by more exact methods of quantum chemistry.

The paper presents a dynamic model of a dual clutch lever-based electromechanical actuator. Bond graph modeling technique is used to describe the clutch actuator dynamics. The model is parameterized and thoroughly validated based on the experimental data collected by using a test rig. The model validation results are used for the purpose of analysis of the actuator behavior under typical operating modes.

The article discusses the issues of design and methodology related to the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of a GaN HEMT. Reliable I-V characteristics show the operability of a semiconductor device, provide initial data for functional application of the device, and provide insight into the quality and reproducibility of the technological process. The type and behavior of I–V characteristics are influenced by the design and technological features of a GaN HEMT. Measurements of I-V characteristics in continuous and pulsed operation modes provide more details about the electrical and thermal characteristics of the devices under study.

The paper presents the determination of main parameters and operating modes of scattered centrifugal devices of technical units when using them in the technology with scattered sowing when performing the technological operation of sowing rice in liquid-flexible soil. Theoretical studies of the dependence of design features of the blade of a spreading disk on the number of blades installed on it and the radius of curvature of the end bend on the height of blades are carried out. The values of the diameter of the disk of a centrifugal dispenser and parameters of blades are set, which will increase the uniformity of distribution of seed material for a given width of a gripper and reduce its consumption.

The article considers an approach to determining the permissible ranges of changes in the armature voltage, armature current and the excitation coefficient of the DC traction motor of a mining dump truck to ensure satisfactory commutation. When the DC motor is running in the specified modes, the probability of sparking in the collector-brush unit with a degree of 2 points will be minimal. A method for determining the permissible operating modes of a mining dump truck traction motor to ensure satisfactory commutation is proposed. The method allows, based on the analysis of experimental data, to determine the permissible ranges of changes in voltage, armature current and excitation coefficient, at which the degree of sparking does not exceed 1½ points

Purpose. The article describes methodology for conducting research on parameters of compression foam cooling during its delivery through hose-pump systems depending on the operating modes of the foam generating installation. The impact of mass consumption of compression foam on its cooling at low temperatures has been examined. The application of a mathematical model of air-foam mixture movement in hose-pump systems at different temperature modes has been substantiated. Methods. Empirical method-experiment has been used for research. Findings. A number of experiments have been carried out to confirm the developed model of compression foam moving in hose-pump systems at different temperature modes. A mobile installation for generating and delivering compression foam has been used as the object of the research. Inaccuracy in calculations obtained with the help of a mathematical model in comparison with the experimental data is 10% which makes a possible to claim that the model of compression foam moving in hose-pump systems at different temperature modes has been chosen properly. Research application field. According to the obtained data, it is possible to plan means and forces of fire units for extinguishing fires using compression foam at low temperatures. Conclusions. The developed mathematical model of compression foam movement during its delivery through hose-pump systems is confirmed by experimental data. The dependence of mass consumption impact on compression foam cooling when it is delivered through fire hoses at low temperatures has been obtained experimentally.

In the second half of the twentieth century, a cascade of reservoirs was constructed along the Angara: Irkutskoe, Bratskoe, Ust-Ilimskoe and Boguchanskoe, which were intended for producing renewable hydroelectric energy for providing transportation through the Angara and Yenisei Rivers, and for avoiding floods. The upper reservoir (Irkutsk Dam) is used to regulate the level of Baikal Lake. The cascade of Angarsk reservoirs is managed using the dispatch schedules developed in 1988. This article contains a multi-criteria analysis of the “Lake Baikal–Irkutsk Reservoir” operating modes in a changing climate, based on statistical summaries of performance criteria: reliability, resilience, vulnerability. Studies have shown that dispatch schedules need to be developed on the historical series of recent years, updated more often and optimization methods should be used for real-time management. This article discusses mathematical methods, algorithms and their implementations for the formation of reservoir operation modes based on dispatch schedules (DS) and optimization methods. Furthermore, mathematical methods, algorithms and programs have been developed for the formation of reservoir operation modes in real time, based on optimization approaches and long-term series of observed inflows, taking into account a given hierarchy of priorities of water users’ requirements. To solve the integer nonlinear large-dimensional task of performing water resource calculations, a special optimization algorithm was developed that allows decomposition of the task into a series of two-year dimensional independent subtasks.
