Considering the innovative interest of society in competent specialists, Higher Education strives to meet these needs by positioning introduction of interactive learning dynamic application in educational process as one of the forms of cognitive activity organisation. An illustrated lec-ture, a binary lecture, a consultation lecture and a conference were used in the study as priority means of cognitive activity stimulation. In doing so, we relied on the ideas of museum pedagogy as one of the important conditions of creating dialogicity, searching activity, team interaction and social experience. While conducting the abovementioned lectures in a museum environment, the special atmosphere is being created, which encourages fruitful work with historical sources, receiving information through exhibits, positive communicative environment aimed at initiating cognitive interest and activity, creativity, students’ independence in the knowledge assimilation, practical application of skills and abilities. All these, as our research has shown, contribute to the increase of the students’ cognitive ac-tivity stimulation levels.

The relevance of the work is due to changes in the understanding of the goals of education, according to which learning should not be limited to the communication of knowledge, but should develop the necessary competencies in the field of independent cognitive activity and reveal the creative potential of students. In this work silence is considered as having a dialogical nature not expressed in a sign form a communicatively significant process of cognition of the studied object, which allows the student to overcome language and psychological barriers, to engage in independent work to develop the meaning and content of education, and, in the end, create your own educational product. In accordance with this the essence and content of the method of pedagogical silence are revealed, and also the author's typology of silence is given. On the example of a fragment of a lesson on the discipline "Russian as a foreign language" the features of the use of the method of pedagogical silence in teaching foreign languages are shown. The research materials can be used in organizing the educational process for the study of foreign languages, for methodological work in an educational institution, as well as in self-educational pedagogical activity.

Introduction. The present study identifies the reasons for choosing teaching methods to prepare students majoring in engineering for professional foreign language communication and presents specific teaching methods. The scientific novelty of this paper is the selection of criteria for choosing the methods to shape the readiness of future engineers for professional foreign language communication, correlated with the readiness components. The theoretical significance lies in the expansion of the understanding of shaping the readiness for professional foreign language communication through a reasonable choice of methods correlated with the components of the studied phenomenon. The practical value of the research is in the use of the specific teaching methods in the educational process to shape the readiness of undergraduates majoring in “Mechanical Engineering: Welding Production” at the Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk). The findings can be applied in teaching a foreign language to students of various specialties. Materials and methods. General theoretical methods employed to achieve the research goal are an analysis of regulatory information; comparative analysis of teaching methods; analysis and synthesis; and reflexive-evaluative procedures, which justify the choice of teaching methods in accordance with the set goal. The research materials are psychological and pedagogical sources, including scientific papers, dissertations, monographs, etc. Research results. The requirements for the choice of teaching methods are supplemented by the requirement for the communication with a focus on the studied readiness for professional foreign language communication, the need to increase motivation and the ability to get a specific visible result. The study proves that the readiness for foreign language communication in future professional activities can be effectively achieved using active teaching methods, in particular, brainstorming, case method, and game technologies. These methods consider the communicative nature of the phenomenon shaped and the professional context in its implementation when teaching English to undergraduates majoring in “Mechanical Engineering: Welding Production” at the Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk). The practical application of the game-based method in the scenario of lessons and its expected results are presented. Conclusions. The research examines one of the pedagogical conditions related to the choice of a teaching method that allows involving students in cognitive activity in a professionally oriented educational environment. The grounds for the choice of teaching methods that shape the readiness of future engineers for professional foreign language communication are indicated. The methods for the productive preparation of students for professional foreign language communication are selected in accordance with the requirements of the competency-based and the activity-based approaches. Three active teaching methods have been identified to achieve this goal within the educational process of students specializing in “Mechanical Engineering: Welding Production.” These are brainstorming, case study method, and game methods. The practical application of the research results is relevant in the context of teaching a foreign language to students majoring in various disciplines. The main problems of modern education cannot be solved without its development. Scientists and practitioners pay attention to outdated forms and technologies of managing work with students. In modern conditions, it is becoming increasingly difficult to solve the problems of education with traditional management systems and methods, therefore, there is a need for an adequate construction of methodological equipment of the educational process in an educational institution, which actualizes the need to provide the education system with methodological developments, didactic materials that meet modern requirements of pedagogical practice. Organizational forms of methodological work of the university are: scientific and methodological and pedagogical council; certification of teachers; subject departments, creative laboratories of teachers; school of a young teacher; psychological, pedagogical and methodological seminars; methodological schools of innovative teachers; preparation of methodological manuals, publications in periodicals and professional publications. Most of the above-mentioned types of methodological support are traditional, but all of them make it possible to introduce innovations. However, attention is drawn only to the forms and methods of organizing the educational process, and not to the psychological and pedagogical support of the cognitive activity of teachers and methodological support of managerial activities as a source of quality and effectiveness of their professional activities. The realities put forward new requirements for the methodological support of the educational process at the university, requiring changing the goals, functions and content, turning its quality level into a scientific and methodological one. The essence and purpose of scientific and methodological support is to create conditions for the formation and personal and professional development of teachers, the development of their pedagogical abilities, creative potential.
