Discussed are problems of higher education modernization in order to improve education quality and get competent specialists. Recommendations for the educational process reform in higher institutions are closely connected with state exams, curricula and work programs, and financing issues, and the duration of study at the university. It is necessary to amend both the tactics and the strategy of higher education, and first and foremost, it is obligatory to stop using falsification of figures and mark the student accordingly to his or her progress. This will allow the student to create self-motivation for learning, based on the elimination of irresponsibility and slovenly work, permissiveness in receiving knowledge. In higher education, the principle "From each person according to his or her ability, to each person according to his or her work" should be a priority

The study examined some aspects that affect the motivation of medical students to study and the formation of a part of professional competencies aimed at assessing the ability to work with patients in practice. The aim of the work was to assess the views of KSMU students about the importance of the educational process, motives that affect the success in obtaining education, professional prospects, career growth. The study was carried out by the method of questioning 68 4th year students and 85 6th year students of the medical and preventive medicine faculty. To study the motivational sphere of the personality, we used the methodology "Motivation for studying at a university". To study the formation of a part of professional competencies (communicative and educational), a questionnaire developed by us was used, aimed at assessing the ability to work with patients in practice. The results of the study showed that students adequately chose their profession and are satisfied with the process of studying at the university. However, senior students have higher rates. Moreover, they have different motivation for learning. The dominance of mastering the profession under the influence of the psychological aspect is becoming stronger among sixth-year students. When analyzing the questionnaire on the degree of professional competence, it was revealed that the outpatient service and district doctors remain in secondary roles, forced to concede laurels and money to high-tech hospitals and narrow-profile specialists, and university students are a product of time. Thus, the teacher of the clinical department has a great responsibility in the formation of professional competencies and strengthening the student's motivation for learning.

The purpose of the study is to develop a model for the formation of a culture of educational and research activities among junior students of the university in the process of their teaching English. The article concretizes the concept of "model", examines various types of models and methodological approaches to their construction. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the development of a logical-meaningful model of the formation of the culture of educational and research activities among junior students of the university in the process of teaching English. As a result, it was concluded that the most important property of the developed model is its integrity: the model gives a generalized description of the object of research, isolates the most significant sides for the study, makes it possible to establish a functional relationship between the parameters under study, to increase students' motivation for learning, the development of creative and creative abilities, as well as active research activities.

This article aims to study the relationship between personal reflection and the intensity of motivation for learning in a university. In order to achieve this goal, the following techniques were employed: A.V.Karpov and V.V.Ponomaryova’s technique for identifying the individual level of reflectivity, and T.I.Ilyina’s technique for assessing learning motivation in university students. The empirical study involved 143 subjects. The obtained data indicate that for the first-year students the meaning of the ‘mastering the profession’ motive is directly connected with their reflections on the present and future activities, while the meaning of the ‘getting a diploma’ motive is inversely correlated with the reflection of communication. In the second year, the intensity of the ‘gaining knowledge’ motive correlates with the reflection of communication, and the meaning of the ‘mastering the profession’ motive has an inverse relationship with the reflection of future activity. In the third year, the values of the motive for acquiring knowledge correlate with the integral indicator of reflection, whereas in the fourth year none of the reflection components are interconnected with the components of the motivation for learning in the university.

This article summarizes the results of research aimed at studying the impact of the transition to online learning using information and communication technologies (ICT) in the educational process on the psychological comfort of students at the Adyghe State University in the direction of “Psychological and pedagogical education”. During the study, a set of complementary research methods was used: theoretical, empirical, statistical, as well as private methods aimed at assessing the level of anxiety, sociability, motivation for learning, and the questionnaire aimed at identifying the level of psychological comfort of students in online learning. We suspected that the transition to online learning can affect the psycho-emotional state and psychological comfort of students: trait and state anxiety will increase; the level of motivation for learning, and the level of students’ communicative activity will decrease. Analysis and interpretation of the data showed that in the process of online learning, the majority of the tested respondents were dominated by average and high values of situational and personal anxiety (43.9% and 47.9%, respectively). 59% of respondents faced psychological discomfort because of the necessary to sharply adapt to the new format of education. There were also difficulties with self-organization of learning process outside the university - 21.7%, as well as difficulties associated with the material and technical base, created an uncomfortable psycho-emotional state in the subjects of the educational process - 3.5%. Therefore, in introducing online learning, it is necessary to take into account several possible risks that affect both the quality of the learning process and the psycho-emotional state of students. Moreover, a necessary condition, in our opinion, is considering the individual and personal characteristics of students in the process of integrating ICT into the educational system to improve health and create conditions for the psychological comfort of students.

This paper reports a survey study investigating motivation for learning English of Indonesian female students. The participants were 200 female students of a senior high school of a pesantren in West Java, Indonesia who participated voluntarily. The data was gained through close-ended and open-ended questionnaires. The close-ended questionnaire was adapted from Choosri’s (2011) instrument. The data from the close-ended questionnaire was analyzed quantitatively involving average score and percentage using Microsoft Excel statistical package; whereas the data from the open-ended questionnaire was analyzed qualitatively using Miles and Huberman’s (1994) framework of qualitative data analysis. Based on the data, it was found that the students’ motivations were more instrumental than integrative, especially to continue their study to the university level, to broaden their knowledge, achieve good grade/score, and achieve better career. It was also revealed that religious motivation of learning English existed among the students: expecting to be future pendakwah ‘Muslim preacher’ and making silaturahmi (knowing more and communicating) with English speaking Muslims.

This paper provides a review of research addressing when students begin to like or dislike English, when they obtain or lose their motivation for learning English, and the reasons associated with their preferences and motivation regarding the language. It also includes a discussion of the findings of a qualitative survey conducted by the author, which indicates that the first and the second grades of junior high school are probably serious turning points of their consciousness toward English. The second biggest turning point is probably the first half of the first grade of high school. Once they have difficulty in learning English and begin to hate English, their feelings continue, even at the university level. The reasons for students’ dislike of English are often related to their difficulty with the language. For example, studying English is to memorize sentences and words, and learning English grammar is very difficult.

The developed method was tested at the Moscow State Regional University. As a result of the training and control experiments, the authors identified the advantages of information and communication training at the university in the process of forming speech competence. The analysis of the obtained data showed that in the experimental group the level of development of speech competence in the study of the morphological topic «Particle. The use of particles in speech» after the use of computer programs of the combined type created by the authors significantly increased in comparison with the results obtained in the control group. The obtained results of the training experiment make it possible to conclude that the formulated hypothesis of the study is experimentally confirmed, that is, the use of information and communication technologies in the process of studying morphology, including the topic «Particle. The use of particles in speech», is more effective if the computer program also includes a reference summary on this topic, as well as select didactic material, taking into account the typical mistakes of students. In the process of conducting a formative experiment, there is an increased interest of students in computer classes, their motivation for learning activities, and the desire to study the material. This contributes to the creation of favorable conditions for learning. The conducted training and control experiments confirmed the fact that the use of computer technologies in the educational process of the university allows us to make classes in the Russian language and speech culture more effective in the process of forming speech competence.
