There are many technological developments in banks, one of which is online transactions. To get these transactions, an account should be opened using the electronic know you customer (e-KYC) verification system at banks. This research wants to know the differences in the factors that influence behavioral intentions to use e-KYC to open a bank account for SCB (The Siam Commercial Bank) Thailand and Bank Mandiri Indonesia. This is quantitative research using a survey. We have prepared a questionnaire of 160 respondents: 80 for Bank Mandiri and 80 for SCB. The results indicate that the willingness to use electronic identity verification services influence by the availability of technology, the external impact of the network, safety awareness, perception of trust, and perception of security. The perception of security affects the perception of trust, and technical protection, also the transaction procedure does not affect the perception of trust.

Identity crime and misuse cost the Australian economy an estimated $3.1b in 2018–19 (Smith & Franks 2020). Protecting individuals’ personal identification information and finding secure ways to verify identities has become an increased priority as the impact of identity crime continues to grow in Australia and worldwide. Biometric technologies for identity verification provide an enhanced security solution, although implementation of biometric systems within Australian society has met with varying degrees of acceptance. Since 2013, the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) has conducted online surveys to gain a greater understanding of identity crime and misuse in Australia. These surveys have asked about respondents’ experience of identity crime and also their previous use of, and future willingness to use, biometric technologies to safeguard their personal information. This report presents both qualitative and quantitative research findings obtained from a sample of respondents in the most recent surveys concerning their experiences of biometrics and perceptions as to its role in identity security.

The digitization of the economy is creating difficulties for traditional companies, jeopardizing the survival of the most resistant to change. With e-commerce platforms, small and micro-businesses can open new channels of communication with consumers, paying attention to some psychological factors that influence the decision to buy online: the perception of security, reputation, trust, appearance and design websites. The purpose of this article is to assess the importance of these factors in the decision to purchase online, using a questionnaire administered on line (GoogleForms) to a Portuguese convenience sample (n = 163). The results reveal differences based on sex and consumers' previous experience in carrying out online transactions, as well as significant associations between some of the dimensions of the online trust scale of Sevim and Hall (2014) and the use of e-commerce platforms. In the conclusions, some proposals for conceptual clarification are presented and the psychometric properties of the scale used are discussed.

Banks are financial institutions that collect and distribute funds in the forms of deposits such as savings, deposits, current accounts, etc. from and for people who need funds for various needs, such as for consumption, working capital or business capital, housing and investment. In addition, banks must help the community to improve their living standards by distributing funds or giving credit to people who need funds. This is in accordance with the function of the bank itself, namely the bank as the distributor of funds. The purpose of this research is to examine and obtain evidence about factors that influence loan distribution at a bank. Internal factors that influence loan distribution are Third Party Funds, Non-Performing Loans, and Profitability. Efforts to increase credit at banks require optimal efforts to raise third-party funds, good credit management, and capital strengthening. This type of research is quantitative research with purposive sampling technique. The population used in this study is commercial banks from 2013 to 2017. The data come from commercial bank financial statements. As the benefit of this research the government can use it as a mapping material for distributing loan to commercial banks; the bank management can take it into consideration in making commercial bank lending policies. Third party funds have a significant positive effect on loan distribution. Non-Performing Loans have a significant negative effect on loan distribution. Keywords: LOAN DISTRIBUTION, THIRD PARTY FUNDS, NON-PERFORMING LOANS, AND PROFITABILITY

The study analyses information needs and behaviours of master’s and doctoral theology students currently studying at the International Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) in Prague, Czech Republic. The aim is two-fold: first, to extend understanding of the information behaviour of theologians working as distance learners in a cross cultural setting; and secondly, to provide guidance for the development of library information services for this group. The study follows a quantitative research approach with a survey design and attempts to replicate in a modified way studies by Gorman (1990) and Stieg Dalton and Charnigo (2004). The findings suggest that theology students at IBTS use many and varied types of materials in their interdisciplinary studies while giving clear preference to books, periodicals and theses. Most of the participants have, partly successfully, embraced information technology as a tool and use it extensively. To satisfy their research needs they employ a variety of methods to find relevant information and fall back on “typical” humanists’ research behaviours when “usual” channels do not work: engage their networks, expand their personal library, and browse. While the humanist profile is evident throughout the diverse group, there are also notable differences. Theologians increasingly work interdisciplinary and integrate approaches considered typical for other disciplines. Partly differences are caused by the fact that the group under consideration are students who still experiment with research approaches. Many differences are caused by technological developments and contextual aspects.

Purpose In the COVID-19 pandemic, students were subjected to high pressure when they were forced to move to distance learning in a lockdown environment. Such a drastic move for communities living in groups with solid relationship ties comes at a price. This study aims to investigate the acceptance of distance learning amongst Omani higher education institutions (HEI) students during COVID-19 lockdown. Design/methodology/approach This is a quantitative research based on an online survey designed to study participants’ acceptance of distance learning during COVID-19 lockdown. Findings A sample of 757 Omani students was selected, of which 81.2% were female. About 60% of the students’ Age lies 15–20 years. The highest percentage (38.8%) of students belongs to the College of Arts and Humanities. A total of 80% of the students reported a moderate level of information technology skills, and also more than 80% of the students had never attended eLearning calls. Most of the students affirm the eLearning acceptance (students’ willingness to use eLearning tools for the tasks they are designed for), eLearning usefulness (using eLearning would enhance students’ performance), eLearning ease of use (the degree to which a student believes that using eLearning tools are free from effort), learning from home during COVID-19 and eLearning effectiveness (student’s satisfaction and the benefits student will gain from learning via online platforms). Multiple regression analysis confirms that more than 81% of the variation in the eLearning acceptance was explained by eLearning usefulness, eLearning ease of use, learning from home during COVID-19 and eLearning effectiveness independent variables. Moreover, these independent predictors have a positive association with eLearning acceptance. Originality/value This research intends to fill the gap in Omani HEI students’ acceptance of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
