Background: Hemodialysis patients often experience hypoalbuminemia complications, which occur mainly due to decreased synthesis due to inflammation, lack of protein intake, the fluid status of patients, and losses from the dialysate. Another problem in hemodialysis is malnutrition, with a prevalence between 23–73% globally. Gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite also often occur in hemodialysis. Therefore, hemodialysis patients need to get nutritional support, which can be given in the form of catfish abon, one of the local Indonesian food. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the use of catfish as a source of animal protein to improve the albumin levels of hemodialysis patients.Materials and Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-post test design. This study involved 34 hemodialysis patients as subjects, with inclusion criteria, were routinely two times a week, aged >18 years, willing to be the subject and follow the research procedures, have albumin levels ≥3.0 g/dL, and no catfish allergies. Patients with anasarca edema, experiencing complications of diabetes mellitus and malignancy were excluded. The dependent variable was albumin content, while the independent variable was catfish as an animal protein source. Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate by Fisher's Exact test. Results: Fisher's Exact test results on the effectiveness of using catfish as an animal protein source to improve albumin levels of hemodialysis patients showed p-value=0.048.Conclusion: The use of catfish as an effective animal protein source significantly affected on improving albumin levels in hemodialysis patients.

Background : Hemodialysis patients are at risk of anemia, malnutrition, and gastrointestinal disorders. Because of those many nutritional problems, hemodialysis patients need to obtain nutritional support of protein sources, which can be filled with catfish (Clarias sp.) abon. Objectives : This study aimed to determine the change of hemoglobin level in hemodialysis patients with the provision of nutritional support. Method : This was a quasi-experimental with the pre-post test design. The study was conducted at Panembahan Senopati General Hospital in Bantul during January–December 2017. Catfish abon was given to the eligible patients approximately 0.36 g/kgBW/day for 21 days. Subjects were 32 routine hemodialysis patients whose age are >18 years. The dependent variable was hemoglobin level, while the independent variable was the provision of catfish abon. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate with paired T-test. Results : The average of pre and post intervention hemoglobin level were 9.24±SD  g/dl and 9.50±SD  g/dl respectively. There were no differences on average hemoglobin level of hemodialysis patient (p=0.208). Conclusion: provision of nutritional support increases the average of hemoglobin level during the intervention, although it does not statistically affect the hemoglobin level of hemodialysis patients.

Introduction: Recurrence of coronary heart disease (CHD) occurs due to non-compliance patients in managing CHD. One predictor of compliance with CHD management is illness cognition (IC), and IC can be improved through illness stimuli that can be done through health education in this study through workbooks. Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effect of the workbook on illness cognition in CHD patients. Methods. This research was a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control design. A pretest was done to the patient who was treated in the Cardiac Intensive Unit; posttest was carried out at the end of the first and second month after the pretest. The population was all post-acute CHD patients who were admitted to the cardiac intensive unit in one of the referral hospital in West Java, Indonesia. Purposive sampling was used and obtained 39 respondents who were divided into control and intervention groups. The instrument used was the illness cognition questionnaire (ICQ). Data were analyzed using the mean, median, percentage, and to estimate the effect of the workbook to the patients' IC used Wilcoxon and Friedman test. Results: The results showed an increase in acceptance and perceived benefits for both groups while in the helplessness showed the decrease scores. The p-value of IC comparison in the pre-test, post-test I, and II between groups for helplessness, acceptance, and perceived benefits were 0.118; 0.376; and 0.424, respectively. Besides, the p-value for differences of IC within control and intervention groups was less than 0.05. Conclusions: The workbook in this study generally did not provide significant IC changes to respondents.

Introduction: Post Anesthetic Shivering (PAS) or the incidence of post-anesthetic shivering is reported to be around 33-65% in patients undergoing general anesthesia and about 33-56,7% in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia. The treatment can be done pharmacologically with drugs and non-pharmacologically one of them with a warm blanket. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the effectiveness of giving thick cloth blankets and 380C electric blankets with a reduction in the incidence of shivering in postoperative patients at the Surgical Installation dr. SitanalaTangerang Hospital. Methods: The research method was a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test with control group design. The number of samples were 30 patients. Data was collected by observing shivering responses. The intervention was carried out by firing 380C electric blankets and thick cloth blankets. Result: The results showed that of the 15 postoperative patients before being given an electric blanket, almost half were 7 (46,7%) having grade 3 shivering, where as in patients given thick cloth blankets almost half were 6 (40%) having grade 2 shivering. Electrical heating is almost half that is 6 (40%) does not experience shivering (grade 0), where as in patients given regular blankets almost half are 6 (40%) experiencing grade 2 shivering. Statistical test results were obtained (p-value = 0.001, ? : 0.05) and (p-value = 0.005, ?: 0.05). Conclusion: there was an electric warm blanket or thick cloth blanket that influences the incidence of shivering in postoperative patients at the Surgical Installation dr. Sitanala Tangerang Hospital, but electric blankets are more effective than thick blankets. Suggestion is that the hospital is expected to make an intervention to provide electric warm blankets with a temperature of 380C postoperatively can be used as a fixed procedure for the service of surgical patients to prevent complications of shivering
