The limitations of the production laboratory in the form of providing tools can hinder turning activities. Based on the competency test scores in the basic machining practicum for the 2018/2019 academic year, it was found that there were still many UPI FPTK DPTM students who did not pass the competency test by 82% (23 people). This indicates that students still have difficulty turning. Student difficulties include the ability to produce work objects that do not exceed tolerance limits and the ability to take the time set in each turning work. The purpose of this study is to design a tool called Emergency Stick Level (ESL) which is used in the basic plus type 100809 lathe. The design of the Emergency stick level (ESL) includes the manufacture of butterfly nuts, stick level stoper), springs (springs), ESL housing (ESL body) and connecting nuts (extention nut). Aluminum was chosen as the basic material for making Emergency stick level (ESL) because it is easy to shape and corrosion resistant. The conclusion is that the presence of the Emergency stick level (ESL) makes it easier for UPI FPTK DPTM students to turn

The research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using blended-learning instruction in improving students’ communication skills at Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada. They were required to take the Test of English for Vocational Students (TEVOCS) and it indicated that there was a gap between listening and speaking ability as presented in the test scores. To support the improvement of both skills, blended-learning instruction was designed and carried out in the forms of online listening activities via Online Listening for Individual Practice (OLIVE) website and offline meeting for speaking activities. The research used experimental research, which referred to the results of pre-test and post-test scores of the group. The participants of the research were 275 students from three departments of Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada; Language, Arts, and Cultural Management department; Engineering department; as well as Economic and Business department academic year 2019/2020. The pre-test and post-test scores show improvement in students’ performance in both skills. The result of the t-test also shows that there is significant improvement after the application of blended-learning instruction.

The study aimed to find out whether fly swatter game can give influence toward students’ vocabulary mastery. The subject of this study was grade VII-2 of SMPN 9 Tangerang Selatan in the academic year of 2018/2019, which consisted of 42 students. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with the design of the pre-experimental study. The data from pre-test and post-test were analyzed statistically using spss 16. The result of this study showed; the students’ pre-test mean score was 45.4 and the students’ post-test mean score was 86.6. The result of t-test was 21.55 and significant (2-tailed) was 0.00 < p (0.05). The hypothesis (H1) was accepted, which means there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group. It can be concluded that applying fly swatter game in teaching vocabulary to 7th grade students of SMPN 9 Tangerang Selatan is effective.

This research was conducted by focusing on the formulated question regarding the test scores validity, reliability and item analysis involving the discrimination power and index difficulty in order to provide detail information leading to the improvement of test items construction. The quality of each particular item was analyzed in terms of item difficulty, item discrimination and distractor analysis. The statistical tests were used to compute the reliability of the test by applying The Kuder-Richardson Formula (KR20). The analysis of 50 test items was computed using Microsoft Office Excel. A descriptive method was applied to describe and examined the data. The research findings showed the test fulfilled the criteria of having content validity which was categorized as a low validity. Meanwhile, the reliability value of the test scores was 0.521010831 (0.52) categorized as lower reliability and revision of test. Through the 50 items examined, there were 21 items that were in need of improvement which were classified into “easy” for the index difficulty and “poor” category for the discriminability by the total 26 items (52%). It means more than 50% of the test items need to be revised as the items do not meet the criteria. It is suggested that in order to measure students’ performance effectively, essential improvement need to be evaluated where items with “poor” discrimination index should be reviewed.

Based on a sample of 63 school districts in the state of Louisiana during academic year 2003-2004, we find that a higher (IOWA) test score is associated with higher attendance rates, smaller class sizes, more qualified teachers, more discipline, less spending per student, lower poverty rates, and lower per capita personal income. Therefore, we need to continue to pursue qualified teachers, smaller class sizes, and more discipline.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan perolehan kosakata dalam pemahaman membaca bahasa Inggris menggunakan Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kalasan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa kelas VII B SMP Negeri 3 Kalasan tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, tes, dan wawancara. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penerapan strategi VSS dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan perolehan kosakata dalam pemahaman membaca bahasa Inggris. Peningkatan hasil belajar siswa ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya jumlah siswa yang lulus standar KKM pada siklus I dan II. Nilai rata-rata tes pada siklus I adalah 77,2. Nilai rata-rata tes pada siklus II adalah 82,4. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah bahwa penerapan strategi VSS dapat meningkatkan perolehan kosakata bahasa Inggris dalam pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kalasan. THE EFFORT TO IMPROVE VOCABULARY ACQUISITION IN ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION USING VSS ON THE STUDENTS OF SMP Abstract This study aims to improve vocabulary acquisition in English reading comprehension using Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) on the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kalasan. This was an action reserch study consisting of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four steps, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 32 seventh grade students of SMP 3 Kalasan in the academic year of 2013/2014. The data were collected through observation, tests, and interviews and analyzed by means of quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques.The result shows that VSS could be used to improve vocabulary acquisition in English reading comprehension. The increase of students` learning achievement was shown through the increasing number of students who passed the KKM in cycle I and II. The avarage test score in cycle I was 77.2. The average test scores in cycle II was 82.4. The conclusion of this research is that the implementation of VSS could improve the vocabulary acquisition in English reading comprehension on the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kalasan. Speaking skill is the skill that give us the ability to communicate effectively. The objective of the study were: (1) to find out the difficulties in reporting procedure text, (2) to find out the reason why do the students feel difficulties in reporting the procedure text, (3) to analysis why the difficulties occur at the studentsspeaking in reporting a procedure text.The population was all of the students first grade X-IPA of SMA Methodist 7 Medan 2019/2020 academic year. The sample of this research was the first grade X IPA consist 29 students in the class. The purpose of this study was to determine student knowledge in the text of the reporting procedure to determine student difficulties in the text of the reporting procedure. This researchers used qualitative method to know and examine the difficulties that occur and strive to resolve existing problems in speaking. From the results of research that has been conducted research, researchers found several that are classified through analysis, namly related to students difficulty in speaking, lack of vocabulary used, lack of pronouncation, and lack of knowledge about listening. And researchers used five aspects in giving scored namly Fluency, pronouncation, Accuracy, Clarity, and Performance skill.The researchers concluded in the other words that there was a significant analysis of students difficulties in reporting procedure text. It is suggested that English Teachers must practicing they speaking skill.

This study aims to determine the factors of student difficulties in reading the Arabic text. That's because students often find it difficult to read or understand the content of a text in the Arabic language lessons Muṭāla'ah so the impact on learning outcomes Muṭāla'ah which is low ie with an average yield of 5.65. Though the ability to read has a very important role in learning Arabic also in everyday life. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. In this study, which is the subject of research is the students of class X MA Darul Arqam Muhammadiyah Garut academic year 2014/2015. Results of the study revealed that factors student difficulties in reading the Arabic text can be classified into two factors. First, internal factors include the ownership experience and language competence of students was low, less interest in reading students, and students' motivation is low. Second, external factors, including factors of teachers who lack the mastery of the material, learning methods that are less attractive, the attitude of the teacher in the learning process assessed to be less enthusiastic, lack of instructional media used, the mobility of the position of a teacher in a classroom that is lacking in monitoring student activities, and lack of availability of textbooks.

Abstract   This classroom action research was done in the area of speaking.  It was found that the eleventh grade students of SMAN 8 Denpasar got difficulty  in communicating and delivering ideas. The objective of this study was to figure out whether or not speaking  skill of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 8 Denpasar in academic year 2017/2018 could be improved  through  British  Parliamentary  Style Debate Technique.  The research was undertaken based on the result of the interview with the teacher who taught the students. Pre-test was then carried out, and it was found that the subjects’ speaking skill was low. In order to settle down the problem, British Parliamentary Style Debate Technique was implemented as the technique to improve the subjects’ speaking skill. The study was conducted in two cycles. Furthermore, the result of post- test in each cycle showed that there were significant improvements on the subjects’ speaking skill after British  Parliamentary  Style  Debate technique  was applied. After the treatment of pre-test, the reflection or post-test was administered.   The mean figure of the reflection or post-test scores obtained by the subjects under study in cycle I was 70.52. and in cycle  II  was  78.34. In addition, based on the data of the questionnaire, the subjects’ responses towards the application of the technique was positive.  Therefore, it could be concluded that speaking skill of the eleventh- grade students of SMAN 8 Denpasar in academic year 2017/2018 could be improved through British Parliamentary Style Debate Technique. <p>The purpose of this study is to improve SMP students’ activity and learning achievement, in mathematics, with the application of the <em>Modeling the Way</em> method, during the 2012/2013 academic year. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) that is conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of preparation, action, observation, and reflection. Cycle I and Cycle II are executed within three meetings each. Subjects are IXF grade students of SMP N 1 Ceper amounting to 24 students consisting of  9 male and 15 female students. The data was taken by increased observation of students’ activities during the learning process, while their achievement was measured by evaluating them in the form of tests. The results showed that: (1) The students’ activities have increased from the first cycle to the second cycle. (2) The students’ learning outcomes have also risen, as shown by an increase in the cycle’s final test results. The average final test scores, from cycle I to cycle II, has risen from 71.04% into 79.17%. While the minimum percentage of completeness increased from 70.83% to 87.5%. The test results of the second cycle have reached the indicator of the success that has been established when 80% of students reached the Value Minimum Criteria for completeness (KKM), which is 68. From the results above, it can be concluded that the application of the <em>Modelling The Way</em> method can increase the activity and learning achievement of IX SMP students during the 2012/2013 academic year.</p><p><strong> </strong><strong>Keywords</strong>: <em>Modeling the Way</em> method, activity, and achievement</p>
