This study aims to identify and analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the agricultural sector, especially rice, oil palm, vegetables, fruits and livestock products, also the relation between economic growth and some commonly used competitiveness indicators. The approach used is RCA (Revealed Comparative Advantage), RSCA (Revealed Symetrics Comparative Advantage), Self Sufficiency Ratio (SSR), Import Dependency Ratio (IDR). The results of the study are as follows: The export performance of Indonesian agricultural products in general relatively weak. Almost all agricultural commodities have low competitiveness, except for plantation sub-sector products, especially rubber and palm oil which have high competitiveness, the remaining products such as horticulture, food crops, livestock products, and competitiveness of horticulture relatively low in the international commodity market. In this study, also found in general, the relation between the rate of economic growth and some magnitudes of international trade performance does not show a significant relationship for food crops, horticulture, plantations, and livestock products. Indonesia is approaching the stage of self-sufficiency, especially for food crops, but for other agricultural sector commodities, it is still very dependent on imports to meet domestic consumption needs.

Cotton sector, one of the most important sectors of agriculture, plays a pivot role in the socio-economic uplift of Pakistan as its contribution to agriculture value addition is 5.5 % and to GDP is 1 %. It along with low wage cost also ensures the massive availability of raw material for textile industry which enables Pakistan to attain competitiveness in the world market. The aim of present study is ,therefore, to measure the export competitiveness in cotton sector of Pakistan by utilizing a set of Revealed competitive advantage and Revealed comparative advantage (RCA) indices such as RCA, RCA#, Symmetric Comparative index (RSCA),  Revealed Import Advantage index (RMA), Net export index (NEI)and  Revealed Trade Advantage index (RTA)  vis-a-vis world trade. The data was taken from International Trade Center (ITC) UN-COMTRADE Statistics for Pakistani cotton from 2003-17. The results of the study explored that Pakistan had a comparative and competitive advantage in cotton exports, while comparative disadvantage in cotton imports. Moreover, Pakistan had net competitive advantage in cotton sector. The study suggests that   there should be more  emphasis on Infrastructure, reduction in the cost of production, utilities and  finance, use of modern technology, investment in agricultural sector and marketing in international market to boost the exports volume of cotton. Net export index (NEI), Revealed, Symmetric Comparative index (RSCA) (Larsen 1998), Vollrath index (1991) (RCA#), Revealed Import Advantage index (RMA) and Revealed Trade Advantage index (RTA).

The present study has investigated the country specific determinants of the vertical and total intra-industry trade between Iran and its main trading partners (including 24 countries) in the agricultural products group during the time period 2001–2007. For this purpose, first we have measured the types of the intra-industry trade. Then we have examined the determinants of the vertical and total intra-industry trade in the agricultural sector by using the panel technique. Based on the obtained results, it has confirmed that economic development (both per capita income and HDI) has a positive and significance effect on the Iran’s bilateral intra-industry trade. Also, the results verify the Linder hypothesis. In sum, the Iran’s foreign trade in agricultural sector is mainly based on comparative advantage. Specifically, there is a negative and significant relationship between the revealed comparative advantage and the industry trade. In addition, the endowment of land affects positively the high vertical intra-industry trade. Also according to the results, the size market differences impact the intra-industry trade negatively.

With the progress of science and technology, the global economy has gradually shown a trend of integration. Through the last 50 years China has maintained a relatively rapid economic development rate. It is actively participating in the global economic and trade exchange and occupies a pivotal position. In all countries, foreign trade is indispensable in their economies. China also has a long history of agricultural development. The national Chinese economy has moved from the capital intensive and heavy industry-oriented development strategy towards labor-intensive products and was guided by the comparative advantage development strategy. This transformation enabled China to better use of their comparative advantage, and greatly stimulated during the past 30 years of trade and economic growth which helped to achieve remarkable economic development. Main purpose of the article is to reconsider the position and perspectives of China in the global trade of agricultural products, specify industries with the strongest revealed comparative advantage for different agriproducts, outline major strategies for agricultural exportation growth. However, from the perspective of the generation mechanism of the comparative advantage trap, it is still of great significance for China to export labor-intensive products utilizing their comparative advantage. Therefore, on the one hand, China should continue to strengthen the existing comparative advantage; on the other hand, there is a necessity to speed up the introduction of new comparative advantage, so as to relocate the country’s potential quickly from comparative advantage to competitive advantage. The results show that the overall export competitiveness of China's agricultural products is relatively weak and still needs to be further improved. China should adopt measures such as adjusting the structure of the agricultural industry, increasing the added value of agricultural products, enhancing brand effects, and actively developing emerging markets to further enhance the export competitiveness of China’s agricultural products.

The agricultural sector has an important role in supporting the Indonesian economy. But on the other hand, sometimes many community groups do not benefit due to problems that arise because the distribution chain of agricultural products are long enough, especially for farmers and consumers (end users). Of course the situation must be improved, so that the agricultural products of Indonesia can be enjoyed by consumers or farmers with proper. One of its efforts is by establishing an e-commerce based e-commerce system in agriculture. E-commerce based ecommerce system can be used as an alternative for farmers, used as a media campaign, communication and information and can cut the distribution chain of agricultural products marketing. The benefits felt by farmers and consumers directly and indirectly give a positive influence, especially from the broader marketing channels of agricultural products can increase production demand and spur the procurement of production among farmers and also the price offered to consumers will be cheaper so that sales in agricultural products can be more increased and profitable for farmers

In the year before the accession to the European Union, the Slovak agricultural sector reported a loss of SKK 2.4 billion and following a profitable year, the earnings were reduced by SKK 2.8 billion. The situation was caused by a number of reasons, namely reduced sales of agricultural products, damage resulting from adverse weather effects (cold weather, hail, drought and  swine fever), as well as widening of the price gap compared to the year before (increasing input prices in agriculture and decreasing purchase prices of agricultural products, especially in livestock production). Legal entities and natural persons experienced mixed business success. While 51% of legal entities made profit, the figure rose to 76% in the group of natural persons. Both the agricultural cooperatives and trading companies performed with a loss. The loss per hectare of agricultural land (a.l.) was substantially lower in the case of business companies. Natural persons - private farmers were profitable over the period. The gap between the profitable and loss-making enterprises has widened. Some 60% of profitable enterprises owned by legal entities made only a small profit below SKK 0.5 million. The loss-making performance was typical for more productive areas of Slovakia. This was related to stronger effects of adverse climate in 2003.
