Podkarpackie Voivodeship is one of the regions of Poland in which the number of agritourism entities is very high. Therefore tourism plays a significant role in its development strategy. The aim of the paper is to identify the current state of agritourism and the changes that have occurred in the region in the years 2000–2016. Specific objectives are to determine the distribution of agritourism farms and their offer, together with a comprehensive analysis of the environmental and socio-economic factors, as well as the impact of the Slovak-Ukrainian border. The report was developed on the statistical materials from the Polish Central Statistical Office, Podkarpackie Agricultural Advisory Centre in Boguchwała and data collected from municipalities and district offices that is published on their websites, as well as through interviews with 100 owners of agritourism farms in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The research has shown, on the one hand, the decline in the number of farms in the region and, on the other hand, the increase in the diversity of the tourist offer of these entities. Distribution of agritourism farms is closely linked to the attractiveness of natural environment and quality of secondary tourism resources. Traditional agritourism has not yet fully used its countryside, as well as cross-border advantages of its location.

The object of the research is the current state and prospects for the further development of the main types of religious tourism in the Tver region. The purpose of the article is, using modern methods of regional economic research, to present a model for a comprehensive analysis of the religious and tourism industry in a region that has a high and diverse potential for its development. By calculating the coefficients of unevenness and advantages, the authors have identified the main areas of the Tver region, which form the center, semi-periphery and periphery of the development of religious tourism. On the example of the analysis of activities due to the inclusion in the routes of religious tourism, one of the dominants and attractive centers of its development - the Nilo-Stolbenskaya desert, the influence of this industry on other types of economic activities of the region is substantiated. The directions of religious entrepreneurship (production of food products, jewelry), the impetus for the development of which were served by religious tourism, are considered. The advantages for the development of religious tourism in the Tver region, as well as the threats to its functioning in the region, were identified using SWOT analysis. The results of the presented article can serve to develop a further strategy for religious tourism. Their application in this regard is permissible not only for the Tver region, but also for other regions with high potential for the development of religious tourism. The results of the study are of interest not only for government agencies whose task is to develop and develop a tourism development strategy, but for the missionary departments of the metropolises of the Russian Orthodox Church, pilgrim services and organizations that implement tours of religious thematic content.

PurposeThis paper is derived from a two‐year study that sought to provide a critical understanding of the current state of business leadership development (BLD) and to identify directions for innovative future practice. The first of two companion papers, this contribution aims to examine the issue of achieving business relevance in BLD and the quality of HR/management development strategy formulation.Design/methodology/approachThe paper analyses four organisation case studies of BLD strategy derived from interview data sourced from 103 senior line/HRD managers in 20 organisations.FindingsThe findings highlight the need for HRD managers to take a discriminating approach to linking BLD strategy, development method, evaluation and the role of management development. In particular, the cases studied reflect the importance of informal activity and politics in the execution of BLD and the positive effect of individual leadership in moderating the effectiveness of the linkages between business context, BLD strategy and its implementation.Practical implicationsThe paper provides a conceptual framework to enable practitioners to discriminate between different bundles of development practices that can, over time, be translated into behaviours that suit the changing needs of an organisation. A list of useful starting points is provided for managers to review and improve BLD strategy and practice in their own organisation.Originality/valueThe paper provides a framework that shows the importance of different development populations, different sponsors, interest groups and strategic timeframes in enabling more informed discussion about the strategic alignment of BLD.

Implementation of the grain complex development strategy with marketing elements will strengthen the position of the Kemerovo region on the international market of grain and products of its processing. Study objects and methods. The research was based on a systematic approach to the study of the regional grain market and employed abstract-logical, statistical-economic, and graphical research methods. Results and discussion. The article focuses on the current state of Kemerovo grain market and identifies development prospects and sale opportunities. In recent years, the volume of wheat and rye yield has significantly increased, as well as the canola acreage. The main consumer of grain crops grown in the Kemerovo region is the region itself. Nevertheless, the region is gradually becoming a grain exporter. The authors identified factors that affect the enterprises specializing in the production and sale of grain. The region has a good base for the development of agriculture in general and grain crops in particular. Unfortunately, the current problems in cultivation technologies, price fluctuations, insufficient state support, and poor marketing hinder the development of the industry. The authors proposed several directions of grain market development proceeding from possibilities of producers and change in the structure of production sales taking into account foreign trade risks. Conclusion. Marketing and realization of grain production in the Kemerovo region should be based on a well-planned development strategy of improving the competitive positions of the region and the development of a large production and technological complex.

The article is devoted to the problems of the current state and prospects for the development of rural areas of the Russian Federation. The issues of the integrated development of rural areas are currently acquiring special relevance. The main factors in the development of non-urban areas are associated with the political, economic and social development strategy of the country. Considering the dynamics of changes in the number of municipalities, we observe a decrease in the number of rural settlements. The main reasons of this situation are considered: a decrease in the rural population, a decrease in the number of births in the countryside, an annual decline in natural population growth, an increase in deaths in rural areas. The existence of many problems of life in villages and villages is confirmed by a sociological survey of rural residents. The existing system for managing the development of rural areas definitely has positive results, but mainly where production has been preserved and operates. Enterprises that perform production activities in the countryside are most often city-forming. They help the municipality to solve economic and social problems. These organizations participate in program projects for the development of the territory with their own share of co-financing. They are primarily interested in creating decent living conditions in the countryside, an influx of population into rural areas, an increase in the number of ablebodied people and jobs. We have identified the main contradictions that hinder the integrated development of non-urban areas, contribute to the outflow of rural residents and the extinction of villages. But it is the “Population” indicator that is one of the determining ones when calculating subsidies in the territory for equalizing the budget, for solving issues of local importance related to the construction and repair of schools, maintenance of roads, maintenance of housing and communal services, provision of drinking water, etc. The article identifies the main directions for the further development of rural areas in order to enhance the socio - economic situation in the countryside.

Author uses secondary analysis of the results of empirical sociological and statistical studies to identify the main trends in the development of non-government organizations (NGOs) in Ukraine: the growing number of registered NGOs; increasing number of non-government social organizations and increasing number of implemented projects for the provision of social services to internally displaced persons, anti-terrorist operation participants and people who belong to vulnerable groups, or/and are in complicated life circumstances. The purpose of the article is to consider the current state of social responsibility of NGOs in Ukraine. The social responsibility of NGOs is defined in the paper as “a characteristic that is integrated into the activities of the NGO based on its Statute and implemented in practice by providing services on a professional basis, following international norms, to achieve socially significant goals, solving acute social problems, ensuring sustainable development of the community, the region, and the country as a whole”. To have an in-depth study of the basic principles of social responsibility of NGOs, the author conducted a content analysis of 200 websites of NGOs. Content analysis questionnaire included such indicators as annual financial report; annual non-financial report; NGO’s development strategy; information about partners, etc. The main indicators of social responsibility of NGOs are in compliance of the organization’s charter developed according to requirements of the current Ukrainian legislation and the provisions of international standards; transparent activities taking into account the interests of stakeholders, availability of annual reports (financial and non-financial), etc.
