Background: Mother and baby’s death is still a global isue. The presence of village midwife has been proved effective in decreasing pains and deaths. However, in the past few years, the contribution of village midwife in preventing deaths is questioned. The low performance of village midwife is regarded as the reason why the isue exists. Objective: To find out the reasons why village midwife performance is not optimum.Design. The study used mixed methods with sequencial exploratory strategy. The study was started by collecting qualitative data, which was then followed by collecting quantitative data. The collecting of qualitative data was done by having focus group discussion (FGD) and thorough interviews, while the collecting of quantitative data was conducted by fulfilling questionaires.Setting: These activities had been carried out from August to November 2016 in 27 subdistricts in Indragiri Hilir Regency.Participants: The data collecting was done by involving 5 facilitators, 2 interviewers, and 27 data collecting officers. There were 77 midwives who had been involved in FGDs, meanwhile 31 midwives were involved in thorough interviews and 439 midwives took part in fulfilling questionaires. Results: The obstacles which make the village midwife performance not optimum include health policies and regulations, competency, tools and infrastructure, demography, geography, security and safety, midwife intrinsic and family. Conclusions: Problems faced by village midwives are too complicated to overcome by midwives alone. This paper evaluated the peace building architecture by United Nations using Southwestern Nigeria as a reference point. Quantitative data were generated from responses to the questionnaire. In addition, the qualitative data were gathered from two sources: interview response and theme coding of Focus Group Discussion. Data collected were analysed using frequency, percentage, mean value and standard deviation as well as content analysis methods. From the descriptive statistics, this paper found out that quick intervention, cross-examination, negotiation, and mediation of differences were evaluated to be the key building strategies adopted for the enhancement of peaceful co-existence in local communities within Southwestern Nigeria. In spite of those good remarks, poor nature of ethnic cooperation underlines the causal reason for incessant communal conflicts in Southwestern Nigeria. It therefore concluded that peace building strategies in Southwestern Nigeria were evidently operationalised with observable inconsistencies from the qualitative data.

This research is motivated by religiosity or religious adherence to students as potential counselors in Islamic counseling courses. Religiosity affects how individuals view their problems and life at large. In Islamic counseling, religiosity is a mandatory requirement for counselor candidates to develop so that the counselor can transmit in Islamic counseling services. This research aims to study the religiosity of guidance and counseling students at UNNES. The research sample was taken purposively from students who were taking or had been taking Islamic counseling courses in the guidance and counseling department at UNNES with a total of 100 respondents. This study's data collection techniques include two techniques related to the data to be obtained, namely quantitative and qualitative data. The data collection technique for obtaining quantitative data uses a psychological scale.  The religiosity scale in this study reveals how high student religiosity is. In addition, to obtain data accuracy to strengthen quantitative data, qualitative data is also needed, collected through a focused group discussion method with two students. The quantitative results showed that the level of spirituality of counselor candidates who took Islamic counseling courses was in the moderate category or was 71%. Meanwhile, the qualitative data shows that several things generally influence the students as candidate Islamic counselors in developing spirituality. These are faith (belief in Allah and pillars of faith), worship such as prayer, fasting, and reading the Al-Qur'an, and experiences such as remembering death, parental advice, and lecturers or listening to the holy verses of the Qur'an.

This study looks at how using special courts can provide succor to the plight of awaiting trial inmates in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. The study adopted quantitative and qualitative research methods, with a sample of 1,498 respondents comprising 617 police officers, 623 awaiting-trial inmates, 113 court staff, and 145 prison officers drawn from Ebonyi State. Purposive and Multi-stage sampling techniques were used to reach the respondents. The quantitative data was descriptively analyzed using percentages and charts, while a thematic method of analysis was employed in the qualitative data. The findings revealed that, while there has been an uptick in awaiting trial problems, there is no meaningful provision to address them, despite the existence of provisions within the Nigerian legal framework. The article calls for the creation of special courts that are equipped to address peculiar crime cases in a more effective and faster manner. These courts are better poised to address the peculiarities of special cases and pass better and faster judgments.

Working overseas is an attempt to earn higher income and to accumulate financial capitals to run small enterprise in migrants’ place of origins. In fact, many Indonesia returned migrants decided to re-migrate, either to previous countries or to new destination countries. This paper aims to assess factors that cause remigration of the returned labor migrants. This study used quantitative and qualitative data, based on research in one of major international labor migrants sending village in Indonesia, namely Sukorejo Wetan in Tulungagung District. Quantitative data was collected through survey on selected households, while qualitative data was gathered by in-depth interview, focus group discussion (FGD), and observation. The analysis shows four dominant factors that caused returned migrants to re-migrate, namely: (1) the remittances only sufficed consumption needs; (2) the returned migrants faced difficulties in adapting to labor force conditions at place of origins (i.e., job scarceness and low wage); (3) limited ability in entrepreneurship; and (4) availability of social network that facilitates remigration.

Designing standardized exams for EFL undergraduates is a matter of great concern in pedagogical practices that assess learners’ academic achievements. This case study was conducted at Majmaah University, Saudi Arabia, to explore the significance of educational exam standardization and its impact on the process of implementation, leading to a balanced and equitable assessment of English language skills. During the study, 250 final English skill exam questions of two semesters were analyzed. A mixed-method approach using a questionnaire and Focused Group Discussion was adopted to collect relevant data. The quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 16, and the qualitative data was processed by thematic analysis. The quantitative data results showed that questions were balanced, valid, and reliable in language skill exam papers designed for undergraduate English students. The qualitative data revealed four major themes – standardization of questions, the efficacy of Bloom’s taxonomy, assessment/evaluation, and alignment of the question with learning outcomes. These emerging themes highlighted the effectivness of standardizing exam papers, identified problems, and suggested ways of improvement. The study indicates that exams must be scrutinized for the sake of standardization in terms of maximum course coverage; the variety in the question item; clear, concise, and precise instructions; validity and reliability of exam papers; and the alignment of questions with the course and program learning outcomes to ensure the implementation of the revised Bloom’s taxonomy. The study suggests, to generalize the results, that further investigation should be done in another Saudi university for the sake of comparison.
