The background of this research begins with the existence of Muslim Dayak counselors in schools who get a negative perception of the social environment regarding the existence of tribal counselors based on the religion adopted. This research method uses a qualitative approach where researchers act as key instruments, data collection techniques using interviews, observation, documentation studies and data triangulation, data analysis results from a combination of all data collection techniques that produce qualitative meanings and propositions. The negative perception of the social environment is the main problem of the formation of the identity of Muslim Dayak counselors that is strongly believed by the counselor, for which Muslim Dayak counselors need good communication skills in conveying their identities to the social environment so that the formation of self-identity can be done well. Overall Muslim Dayak counselors are able to introduce self-identity well without any obstacles based on the religion adopted. This happened partly because of the philosophy of Huma Betang which contained values of tolerance and mutual respect among religious believers who could reduce negative perceptions of the social environment about the existence of Muslim Dayak counselors.

Visual therapy using image cards is one way to improve communication skills for autistic children. UNESCO in 2014 estimates that there are 35 million people with autism in the world. Indonesia, in 2013 and Director of Mental Health Development Ministry of Health had estimated the number of children with autism in Indonesia about 112 thousand with a range of 5-19 years. The phenomenon found in the Batam Autism Service Center, visual therapy with image cards has not been optimally performed on all children. Of the 18 people population sampled entirely, there is only 1 child who has good communication skills before therapy is given and the remaining 17 people have a poor ability. This study aims to determine the comparison before and after the visual therapy of the image card on the communication skills of autistic children in Batam Autis service center. This research uses Quasy Experiment method with time series design research. The sample in this research is 18 children with autism grouping stage of development of communication of children with autism stage three, that is The Early Communication Stage.Intervention done is giving visual therapy picture card every day schedule to every child counted 10 times therapy. The results before the visual therapy, the ability of good communication only about 6% while the results of research after the visual therapy has increased to 61%. In other words, the result of the research shows that there is an increase of communication ability (p = 0,05, 95% CI). This study brings the conclusion that there is an increase in communication skills in children with autism at PusatLayananAutis Batam City. It is hoped that the application of visual therapy with image kart will be enhanced as this is one of the ways in improving the communication ability of autistic children, thus reducing barriers in communication and social interaction.

The quality of the educational process can be measured by different criteria. These criteria are based on factors, including good communication as an important aspect. Similarly to good communication being able to improve the quality of life, the quality of the educational process largely depends on the communication ability of teachers or implementers of education. In his or her job, the teacher has to master communication on different levels: with his or her superior (the principal), colleagues, parents and pupils (students). Not only does the teacher have to educate students by example, he/she occasionally also need to provide assistance in solving conflicts so as to avoid peer violence. During their studies at the university, student teachers should acquire good communication skills. Even though these have been introduced in the content of pedagogical study programmes, their extent is still not sufficient. This paper presents an example of trial Communication in Education laboratory work that was implemented with three generations of 4th year students – future teachers of technical education. Their reaction was very positive and they expressed the desire for additional work to be prepared. Key words: communication process in the school, personal orientation, reference framework, teacher education.

Schematic representation is very important for students to solve problems in solving word problems. There are two types of schematic representation namely pure schematic representation and mixed schematic representation. The process of forming a pure schematic representation tends to be more concise than the process of forming a mixed schematic representation. So it is necessary to investigate in more detail and in-depth which is more effective between pure schematic representation or mixed schematic representation in helping students to solve word problems. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of pure schematic representation and mixed schematic representation in solving word problems. The effectiveness mentioned in this study is the accuracy and precision of the schematic representation formed by the students when solving word problems. This study uses a qualitative approach involving students from grade IX in Metro City, Lampung, Inonesia as research subjects. The students involved in this study were 60 students. Of the 60 students, two were selected as research subjects representing pure schematic representation and mixed schematic representation. Both subjects were chosen considering the possibility of forming a schematic representation and having good communication skills. The results of this study indicate that students who form pure schematic representation present information and schematic drawings formed in a more concise, precise and accurate manner. While students who form a mixed schematic representation by presenting less structured information, the schematic drawings formed are longer. So it can be concluded that a pure schematic representation is more effective than a mixed schematic representation for solving word problems. Keywords: Representations; mixed schematic representations; pure schematic representations; word problem.
