Introduction: Allethrin is an active ingredient used in anti-mosquito drugs. Allethrin enters the body through inhalation, allegedly can disrupt the quality of spermatozoa by decreasing its amount, motility, viability and morphology. Many studies suggested that with sufficient intake of vitamin C and E would be able to minimize free radicals caused by allethrin. This study aims to investigate the effect of giving antioxidant vitamin C and E on spermatozoa quality of white rat (Rattus norvegicus) strain Wistar male with allethrin exposure. Methods: This research was a post-test design randomized control group design using Rattus novergicus male strains Wistar exposed to allethrin (LPB IPB veterinary stem cell). A total of 16 white rat strains Wistar male divided into 4 groups, one control group (without any treatment) and 3 treatment groups (given antioxidant vitamin C, vitamin E and both). The exposure of mosquito coils was performed 8 hours per day for 45 days and on the 46th day, spermatozoa was observed. The data were analyzed using ANOVA one way and BNT.Results: The results showed that treatment with vitamins affected the amount, motility and viability of rat spermatozoa exposed to allethrin. The mean amount of control group spermatozoa and treatment was 14,93, the mean spermatozoa motility control and treatment groups were 45,13 and the mean spermatozoa viability of control and treatment groups was 58,88. This is shown by the real difference between the control group and the treatment (p <0,05). Similarly, in the control group found morphological abnormalities. Conclusion: Exposure of mosquito coils 8 hours/day for 45 days decreased the spermatozoa quality. Overall, the admission of antioxidant vitamin C and E are able to maintain the quality of spermatozoa instead of one type of vitamin.

Background: The incidence of burns in Indonesia progressively increases with the increase in its population and industries. From January to September 2000, 158 patients were treated in the burn unit of Dr Soetomo Hospital with a mortality rate reaching 5,8%. Burns have a direct effect in causing both local and systemic changes in the body, not occurring in other injuries. In severe burns, a hypermetabolic state can occur, which increases cardiac workload and causes muscle atrophy and other morbidities. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of propranolol on the hypermetabolic state in severely burned patients by measuring various clinical & laboratory parameters. Methods : This is an experimental study using pre and post test control group design with the objective of assessing the treatment outcome with oral propranolol given in 15 consecutive days for burn patients involving 25%- 60% TBSA. Measurements were taken three times, on day 0, 7 and 14.Results : Obtained 16 samples divided into 2 groups. In the treatment group, there was a significant decrease in CRP levels on days 0, 7 and 14 (p <0.05). The Mid Arm Circumference variable did not obtain a significant decreasing on days 0, 7 and 14. The albumin level studied showed a significant decreasing on day 0 & 7 days with a value of p = 0.045. From the comparison between the two groups, there were significant differences in CRP levels on days 0 & 14, with the mean value of the treatment group -5.12 + 2.88 and the mean value of the control group 2.86 + 7.37, and the value of p = 0.019.Conclusions: This study successfully proved that the administration of propranolol can overcome the effects of hypermetabolism which is characterized by decreasing in CRP levels.

Research about sepsis in animal model is interesting to get the right therapeutic method for human being. We did the research to study about the value of body temperature in mice’s various body area in order to get the important information if we are going to do the translational research in animal model about sepsis. One clinical signs of the sepsis mice model is changes in body temperature. An easy way to examine body temperature is using infrared non-contact thermometer. This study aimed to compare the body temperature using infrared non-contact thermometer at the abdomen and anal area. We used male mice, weighing 25–30 g, divided into two groups (control and treatment groups). The control group injected with NaCl 0.9% solution, with the amount of NaCl 0.9% volume equal to Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In the treatment group injected with 2.5 mg/kg BW of LPS intraperitoneally. Body temperature was measured in abdomen (tabd) and ananl (tan) area at 8th and 24th hour after treatment. Body temperature value tabd was higher than tan. Lipopolysaccharide injection increase body temperature but was not significant when compared to the control group (8th and 24th hour). The mean difference between tabd and tan in 8th control groups were 2.12oC respectively. The mean difference between tabd and tan in 24th hour control groups 4.6oC. The mean difference in treatment groups (8th hour) was 4.66oC, while it was 4.77oC in the 24th groups. Giving 2.5 mg/kg BW LPS intraperitoneally did not rise the body temperature significantly as compare to control groups. But, body temperature at anus area using non-contact infrared thermometer after treatment showed lower results as compared to that of at abdomen significantly.

Triglycerides are source of energy in the body, but triglyceride deposits that exceed the threshold will cause health problems, so triglycerides should be lowered to normal. The reduction of triglycerides can be done through physical activity, therefore this study aims to reveal the effect of regular swimming exercises and irregular exercises against triglyceride levels. This research is an experimental research using The Post Test Only Control Group Design design. Subjects of the study were male of Rattus Norvegicus Wistar, 39 subjects was divided into 3 groups with Matched Subject Design technique, which consisted of 2 groups of treatment that is regular and irregular group, and control group. The exercise program was given a swimming with a 3% weight of body weight and was tied 5 cm from the tip of the tail which was performed 3 times per week consistently for regular exercise and 0 to 5 times per week inconsistently for irregular exercise for 12 weeks, While the control group was not given training. In the last week before the blood was taken, the first three groups were given swimming treatment exercises. Based on the results of the anava test, there was a significant difference in the reduction of triglyceride levels among white mice who were given regular exercise with irregular exercise. These results suggest that regular exercise has a better impact on triglyceride reduction than irregular exercise, due to the higher adaptation process of regular exercise.

Receptors estrogen can also stimulated by other, namely by fitoestrogen. Fitoestrogen are the group of non steroid plants that have composition resembling the natural estrogen in the body. One of it is isoflavon, that can be binding with receptor estrogen, which affinity for RE-β is greater than RE-α and can make potential effect because receptors estrogen will blocked by isoflavon and cannot be occupied by estrogen. This compound can harm the endocrine system of the body because of the possible bad effects for reproductive function. Isoflavonoid is mostly found in soy. Soybean can be processed to soybean milk. The purpose of this study is demonstrate that administration of soy milk can affect the  expression of RE-β uterus at the early reproductive period of female Rattus norvegicus. The method used is an experimental design post test control group design. The sample in this study is 24 Rattus norvegicus females. Then divided into four groups: one control group and three treatment groups were given soy milk each dose of 2.5 mg/kg/weight; 5mg/kg/weight; 10mg/kg/weight. The  expression of RE-β uterus were measured by immunohistochemistry. Based on the analysis using ANOVA, was obtained p-value of 0.000, smaller than α = 0:05 (p <0.05). There is a significant influence on the administration of soy milk increase expression of RE-β and by LSD test obtained the results of differences from application of soy milk with different doses.
