This study aimed to determine the relationship between heat detector reading results and the feature of vaginal swab preparations as a parameter for determining estrus in Peranakan Etawa goats. Five healthy non-pregnant goats weighing 20-30 kg, were synchronized using PGF2α (7.5 mg Dinoprost, Enzaprost) intramuscularly twice with 11 days interval. Vaginal cytology examination began the day after the second PGF2α injection. The heat detector (Draminski®, Dramiński SA, Poland) is an estrus detecting device based on the amount of electric current flowing through the vaginal mucus. Spearman correlation analysis showed a relationship (p <0.05) between heat detector reading and estrus detection based on vaginal cytology. The heat detector readings were very significantly correlated positively (p <0.01) with the number of epithelial cells (coefficient correlation, r= 0.564), but negatively correlated with the number of cornified cells (r = –0.854), and also significantly correlated positively (p <0.05) to the number of leukocytes (r = 0.487). The estrus stages were significantly correlated positively (p <0.05) only to the number of leukocytes (r = 0.918). Likewise, the number of epithelial cells was highly correlated negatively (p <0.01) only to cornified cells (r = –0,643), and the number of cornified cells was significantly correlated negatively (p <0.05) only to the number of leukocytes (r = –0.472). It could be concluded that the features of the proestrus, estrus and metestrus stages based on the goat vaginal cytology was correlated with the reading results of the heat detector.

ABSTRACTUD. King Rack Surabaya is a rack production home industry. The production process includes welding of the rack structure. This study aims to analyze the relationship between education, job satisfaction, and work motivation to the work productivity of workers in the welding section of rack production at UD. King Rack, Surabaya, Indonesia. This is an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The study sample used a total population of 12 workers. Data were taken in the form of primary data tested with the Spearman correlation test. The results of the analysis show that the majority of respondents graduated from elementary school and the majority of respondents' job satisfaction was high. However, majority of respondents' work motivation was moderate and the majority of respondents' work productivity was low. The results of the Spearman correlation analysis indicate a relationship between education and work productivity (correlation coefficient = 0.475) as well as work motivation and work productivity (coefficient correlation = 1.000). There was no relationship between job satisfaction and work productivity. To increase work productivity, daily standards for the number of racks to be produced by workers need to be set. Besides that, it is important to give praise and appreciation to the workers in order for them to produce racks that are above the work standard. Keywords: education, job satisfaction, work motivation, work productivity

The system of chain supply in goldfish hatchery enterprise can be detected through the members of the chain, flow of the chain, and process of chain in goldfish hatchery business. The purposes of this study were to analyze the system of supply chain in goldfish hatchery enterprise, to analyze incomes generated from the goldfish hatchery enterprise, to analyze the correlation between the system of supply chain and incomes generated from the goldfish hatchery enterprise. The study was conducted at Unit Pembenihan Rakyat (UPR) in Konawe Regency in province of Sulawesi Tenggara, from April to September 2014. The population in this study was all farmers that own the UPR. Determination of respondents is done by census method. The number of respondents is 8 people. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive way to assess supply chain systems, while the Kendal Rank Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship of supply chain systems with goldfish hatchery income. The results of the study show that the supply chain mechanism of the goldfish hatchery commodity involves main suppliers, hatchery farmers, farmer-collectors, government, and farmer-raisers or end consumers. The flow of the goldfish hatchery commodity consists of three chains, namely: main suppliers à hatchery farmers à government à farmer-raiser; main suppliers à hatchery farmers à farmer-raiser, and main suppliers à hatchery farmers à farmer-collectors. The Kendal coefficient correlation was 90.6%, which indicates a significant correlation between supply chain and incomes generated from goldfish hatchery enterprise. Seventy-five Merino wethers of a medium Peppin strain were slaughtered at 7 months of age after a series of live measurements had been made, weights then being taken of carcass and of edible meat after boning out. Fat content was insufficient for trimming, and bone weight was obtained by difference. Weight of edible meat was highly correlated (0.95) with liveweight before slaughter, and the inclusion of any other measurement in a multiple correlation analysis failed to raise this value. Variation in bone weight contributed only 25% of the variation in carcass weight, and the ratio of meat to bone was positively correlated (0.54) with liveweight before slaughter. If total amount of edible meat is accepted as the criterion for meat production, liveweight before slaughter was a satisfactory predictor for these sheep. It is suggested that simplification of criteria along these lines is desirable to aid in the selection of sheep for meat production, though more work is required on sheep of other ages and other breeds.

Anoa is an endemic species of Indonesia that is listed as endangered in the IUCN Redlist list and also included in the Appendix I CITES. Anoa’s reproduction have been constraint due to their natural behaviour. This animal is a solitary animal, monogamous, wild and aggressive, Incorrect mating time can lead the into a fight between the male and female. Information about the estrus cycle is very important in determining the optimal mating time for anoa. The study aim is to determine the estrus cycle of anoa based on behaviour and change in the vaginal epithelial cells. Behavioural data were observed by focal animal sampling technique to 3 female anoas in Anoa Breeding Center Manado during January-August 2017 at 07.00-17.00 CIT. Vaginal swabs cytology was done during July-August 2017 in the morning and afternoon by using terilized cotton swab and Giemsa stain. The vaginal swabs cytology techniques with Giemsa staining can be used to determine the changes in epithelial cells and confirm the estrus phase of anoa. Based on vaginal cytology the length of the estrus cycle of each individual anoa at the Anoa Breeding Center is different. At Manis the lengt of estrus cycle ranges 23 days, Rita 15 days, Denok 21 days and Ana is unidentified

Background. Until now, there have been no objective criteria to determine the activity of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA). This study aims to analyze the correlation between serum level of IL-1B and the activity of CPA and to determine whether serum IL-1B could be used to assess the activity of CPA. Methods. A total of 469 newly diagnosed CPA patients were enrolled. Correlation analysis in the whole subjects showed that only IL-1B level was associated with the activity of CPA. Then, 381 cases with factors significantly affecting IL-1B expression was excluded through multiple linear regression; the remaining 88 patients were divided into high IL-1B group and low IL-1B group, according to the median value of serum IL-1B, for subgroup analysis. A retrospective comparative analysis was subsequently performed between the two groups, including the clinical manifestation, microbiology and laboratory tests results, and imaging findings. We further investigated the relationship between IL-1B levels and CT characteristic which acted as the indicator of CPA activity, as well as changes in IL-1B level before and after surgery. Results. For all patients, correlation analysis revealed that IL-1B level correlated with both cavitary diameter (P=0.035) and aspergilloma size (P<0.047) but not with the thickness of the cavity (P=0.479). In subgroup comparative analysis, CT characteristics suggested that high activity of CPA, such as cavitary (27/44 vs 13/44, P=0.003) and aspergilloma lesions (25/44 vs. 11/44, P<0.002), were more frequently found in high IL-1B group. The cavity diameter (P<0.001), aspergilloma size (P=0.006), and cavity wall thickness (P=0.023) were significantly different between the two groups. When Spearman correlation analysis was performed once again in subgroup, an even stronger relationship of serum IL-1B with the cavity diameter (Rs=0.501, P=0.002) and aspergilloma size (Rs=0.615, P=0.001) was observed. Interestingly, a significant reduction of IL-1B level was observed after successful resection of CPA lesions. Conclusion. Higher level of serum IL-1B is associated with more severe cavitary and aspergilloma lesions, which are indicative of more active CPA. In addition, IL-1B level reduced accordingly after lesion resection. Measuring IL-1B level therefore could be served as a convenient method to monitor the activity of CPA and be a potential predictive/prognostic marker for treatment response.
