A continuous blood volume monitoring (CBVM) device (Inline Diagnostics, Riverdale, USA) was used to study response to prescribed ultrafiltration during haemodialysis (HD) in 66 stabilised HD patients. Fifty percent of patients showed the expected linear decrease in BV right from the beginning of HD (group 1), 32% exhibited no decrease at all (group 2), while eighteen percent formed the transient group 3 which showed a plateau of varying length after which a decrease occurred. The correct setting of dry weight was verified through evaluation of the ratio of extracellular fluid volume to total body water (VEC/TBW) in 26 patients by means of whole body multifrequency impedometry MFI (Xitron Tech., San Diego, USA) and through measurement of the Vena Cava Inferior diameter (VCID) pre and post HD (in 6 and 5 patients from groups 1 and 3 and from group 2, respectively). The mean VEC/TBW in groups 1 and 3 was 0.56 pre and 0.51 post HD as compared to 0.583 and 0.551 in group 2. VCID decreased on average by 14.1% in groups 1 and 3 but remained stable in group 2. Both findings thus confirmed inadequately high estimation of dry weight. Since CBVM is extremely easy to perform it can be used as a method of choice in detecting inadequately high prescribed dry weight. The status of the cardiovascular system must always be considered before final judgement is made.

During autumn 1943 – spring 1944, a planned evacuation of the German population was carried out from the occupied Soviet regions. This contingent was temporarily housed in special camps inGermany, the General Government and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Following the established procedure, all evacuated Germans from the USSR were subjected to mandatory checks bythe Central Immigration Office. According to its results, the decision about naturalization was made. Camp filtration was a complex procedure based on the doctrinal principles of Nazi ideology. Itallowed to determine both the level of ethnocultural identity and the racial characteristics of each refugee. The legal basis of filtration was different orders, disposals, and prescriptions of severalauthorities that were part of the SS apparatus. Although the German authorities tried not to deviate from the basic principles of this procedure, it was still forced to take into account that the contingentwho came from the USSR had certain socio-cultural characteristics: first, the national identity of many Germans was at a rather low level and secondly, among evacuees (mainly through mixed marriages)there was a significant percentage of people that belonged to other nationalities.

The article analyzes the 1978 Constitution of the North Ossetian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, which reflected the stage of development of its statehood relevant to the Soviet period. Scientific comprehension of the legal aspects of the history of North Ossetia in the status of an autonomous republic, an analysis of its place and role within the system of the Soviet statehood largely accounts for the contradictions in the implementation by the republican state institutions of the functions of political self-government in the era of "stagnation" and "crisis of socialism". Analysis shows that the national sovereignty of the peoples inhabiting Soviet Russia, that was decreed by the early Soviet government, did not find legal confirmation in the USSR Constitution of 1977, on the basis and in accordance with which the Constitution of the RSFSR and its autonomous republics, including NOASSR, were elaborated and adopted. Fixing the status of the autonomous republic as a state entity without recognizing its state sovereignty limited the competence of the republican authorities and made them in fact dependent on the higher power structures even in resolving issues attributed to the jurisdiction of the autonomous republic. All this taken together turned the autonomous republic into a "quasi-state entity", the highest state bodies of which operated in the regime of "local power". Contradictory constitutional provisions of 1977-1978, enshrined in the Fundamental Laws of the USSR, RSFSR and NOASSR, became one of the factors of the destruction of the Soviet power and the socialist system and the subsequent “parade of sovereignties” of the former autonomous entities within the RSFSR.

This paper presents an update on the status of the technology of the water-cooled gas turbine developed by the General Electric Company under contracts with EPRI, ERDA, and DOE. Particular emphasis is devoted to the design and development of water-cooled composite turbine nozzles and buckets, and a sectoral combustor designed for low-Btu coal-derived gas operation. The operating characteristics of a low-temperature coal gas chemical cleanup system which is to be added to the coal gasification facility are also discussed. Status of the materials and process developments in support of the designs are also presented, as are updates to the Phase I HTTT Program combined-cycle studies, which evaluate the commercial viability of integrated coal gasification and combined-cycle operation.
