This study aimed to determine the level of physical fitness of mental retarded students in Special School of Bengkulu by using the TKJI physical fitness test. This method was a quantitative descriptive method of development from surveys with measurement tests. To develop the physical fitness of test norms for normal students and to be used as test norms as a reference for students having special needs, especially for mentally retarded students in order to see the level of physical fitness. Samples from this study amounted to 25 people through a purposive sampling technique. The results showed the level of mental retardation in Special School of Bengkulu, namely 1 person or (4%) was in the category of Very Good. 3 people or (12%) were in the Good category. 6 people or (24%) were in the Medium category. 6 people or (24%) were in the category of Less. 9 people or (36%) were in the category of Very Less. Therefore, to improve the physical fitness, it was necessary to improve the principle of practice, namely the process of change in a better direction, including improving physical quality, body functional abilities and psychological activity of a person. The higher the physical activity was conducted every day, the better the level of physical fitness was. In order to compare their physical fitness, the UNIQUE Physical Fitness Test was administered to 203 retarded and nonretarded subjects with cerebral palsy from both segregated and integrated settings throughout the United States. The test was administered to subjects between the ages of 10 and 17 by professional persons prepared as field testers. Subjects were free from multiple handicapping conditions other than mild mental retardation and cerebral palsy. Regardless of intellectual classification, older subjects significantly exceeded the performance of younger subjects on dominant grip strength. Regardless of intellectual classification, older subjects significantly exceeded the scores of younger subjects on the softball throw and flexed arm hang. No significant differences between retarded and nonretarded subjects at the .01 level of significance were found on any of the test items on the UNIQUE test. The factor structures of both retarded and nonretarded groups were identical with regard to the items that loaded on specific physical fitness factors.

Abstract. Tennis is a type of sport characterized by short and intermittent efforts. Evidence supports the argument that functional abilities such as strength, power, speed, and agility are necessary to compete at the highest levels. This research sought to analyze the relationship between agility and anthropometric variables (weight and height) in children belonging to a private tennis school in the province of Concepción. The study used a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional approach. A sample of 28 children between eight and 11 years of age was selected employing a non-probabilistic sampling technique by convenience. Weight and height were evaluated as anthropometric variables; The MAT Test (Modified Agility Test) was used to evaluate Agility. Results showed that average time obtained for agility was 9.10 ± 1.01 seconds, showing a moderate correlation with the anthropometric variables of weight (r=,189; p=,336) and height (r=-,176; p=,391). In conclusion, agility has a low correlation with the anthropometric variables studied.

Physical fitness for elementary school children is a major aspect in supporting children's growth and development. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rhythmic gymnastics on physical fitness. This research is a pre-experimental research with a single group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used a saturated sampling technique or total sampling with 30 students. Then the data collection techniques in this study were conducted using the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) for ages 6-9 years. The results of the study found that the relative contribution of the use of rhythmic gymnastics increased with the results of pretest / posttest = 10.87 / 19.77 x 100% = 54.98%. Thus the contribution of more than 50% means rhythmic gymnastics in this study can be said to be effective for improving physical fitness of children in elementary schools and for 45.02% can be obtained from other treatments.

The purpose was to examine the reliability of physical fitness items from the Eurofit Test Battery for adolescent males with mild mental retardation (MMR; n = 63, mean IQ = 63.0 ±11.5, mean age = 15.5 ± 1.2) and those without (n = 22, mean age = 15.6 ± 0.6). Males with MMR scored significantly lower (p ≤ .005) than those without on all items except sum of skinfolds, height, and weight. Intraclass correlations (ICCs) ranged from .94 to .99 for males with MMR and .85 to .99 for those without. Percentage error of the mean for all items ranged from 0.5 to 47.5% for participants with MMR and 0.4 to 32.2% for those without. ICCs indicated that Eurofit physical fitness test items are reliable measures for males with and without MMR. However, the percentage error of the mean is quite large for sit-and-reach and 20-m shuttle test (20-MST) items.
