Some Effects of Inflating Information Feedback on the Acquisition of a Discrete Lever-Positioning Response

160 military trainees who were randomly placed into four equal groups were taught to displace a lever to an initial target by an error training procedure. Unknown to these Ss, the target position shifted; Ss were then trained to move the lever to this new target. During this phase of countertraining (CT), information feedback (IF) was inflated by different factors for each of the three experimental groups. The control group in this stage received the same unamplified IF which all groups were given during initial training. Ss receiving exaggerated IF neither engaged in more hunting behavior for the CT target, nor oscillated around it over and above those Ss not given misproportioned IF. Individual differences in responding were greater for the control group than any of the experimental groups. The second half of countertraining for all groups was marked by a progressive deterioration in S-alignment. The most pronounced effects of IF distortion did not occur during the first CT trial as expected. All Ss approached at the same rate a common asymptote as a limit. There was an absence of any powerful tendency to perseverate in moving to the initial target during countertraining. The cognitive relationship established by some of the groups between the IF- and R-scale did not differ suggesting that some of the transformations adopted were psychologically meaningless.

Emotion is the ability of a person to express the state of mind which he is, but when a person is mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually unstable results in a psychological change and helpless on situations. The purpose of the study was to nd out Effect of SKY yoga and pranayama on emotion among college girls .To achieve the purpose of the study 45 College girls were selected randomly from Coimbatore as the subjects. The subject's age ranged from 18 to 21 years. . The selected subjects were divided into 3 groups. Experimental Group I under went on sky yoga only & Experimental Group II went on pranayama only for 50 minutes per day, six days a week for 12 weeks. The control group was not given any practice. The pre-test and post-test were conducted before and after the training for all three groups. The data collected from the groups before and after the training period were statistically analysed by using Analysis of Co-Variance (ANACOVA) to determine the signicant difference and tested at 0.05 level of signicance. The result of the study showed that there was signicant improvement in the emotion of the Experimental Groups I, II subjects than the Controlled group. Through the SKY yoga and Pranayama Emotion got controlled. The conclusion was that SKY yoga controlled emotions and got reduced the psychological effects depression and stress etc. among college girls.

The purpose was to examine and compare the longer-term generalization between 2 different practice dosages for a single-session treadmill slip-perturbation training when reexposed to an overground slip 6 months later. A total of 45 older adults were conveniently assigned to either 24 or 40 slip-like treadmill perturbation trials or a third control group. Overground slips were given immediately after initial training, and at 6 months after initial training in order to examine immediate and longer-term effects. The performance (center of mass stability and vertical limb support) and fall percentage from the laboratory-induced overground slips (at initial posttraining and at 6 mo) were measured and compared between groups. Both treadmill slip-perturbation groups showed immediate generalization at the initial posttraining test and longer-term generalization at the 6-month retest. The higher-practice-dosage group performed significantly better than the control group (P < .05), with no difference between the lower-practice-dosage and the control groups at the 6-month retest (P > .05). A single session of treadmill slip-perturbation training showed a positive effect for reducing older adults’ fall risk for laboratory-induced overground slips. A higher-practice dosage of treadmill slip perturbations could be more beneficial for further reducing fall risk.

Встанов-лено, що найменший рівень МАФАнМ, БГКП, бакте-рій роду Proteus реєструвався в 3-й дослідній групі,курчатам-бройлерам якої задавали з водою 20 см3/дм3НМКД «Мікростимулін» у всіх досліджуваних продук-тах забою. Найбільший рівень МАФАнМ, БГКП, бак-терій роду Proteus реєструвався в контрольній групі,курчатам-бройлерам якої не задавали НМКД «Мікро-стимулін» з водою. The bacterial contamination of broiler chicken slaughter products (white and red muscles, heart, liver, muscular stomach) by conditionally pathogenic and pathogenic microorganisms when the ration of the chickens was enriched by nanomicroelement feed additive (NMFA) «Microstimulin» for four days of storage at 0–4 ºC has been analyzed. It has been found out that the lowest level of MAFAnM, BGIR, bacteria Proteus in all slaughter products under investigation was registered in the 3rd experimental group the broiler chickens of which were given 20 cm³/dm³ NMFA «Microstimulin» with water. The highest level of MAFAnM, BGIR, bacteria Proteus was registered in the control group the broiler chickens which were not given NMFA «Microstimulin» with water. The dependence between the dose of NMFA «Microstimulin» and the number of microorganisms in the products of slaughtering has been proved.

  Excessive continuous noises exposure changes the male hormone system which leads to formation of oxidative stress and results in disrupt of semen quality. This condition can be reduced by the use of antioxidants. Grape seed is one of the antioxidants that contains phenol components that have Resveratrol compounds. This research aimed to observe the effect of noise exposure on the number of spermatozoa of male mice given grape seed extract. The method of the research was a post-test only control group design with research subjects of 30 male Mus musculus L. (Swiss Webster) mice divided into 5 groups: group A (treatment control) was not given noise exposure and grape seed extract, group B (negative control) was not given noise exposure and was given grape seed extract, groups C, D, E (treatment group) were given noise exposure with sequential intensities of 65 dB, 85 dB, 105 dB. The treatment was given for 33 days. The results showed that noise exposure with different intensities of 65 dB, 85 dB, 105 dB reduced the spermatozoa count of male Swiss Webster mice even with the administration of grape seed extract. One Way Anova test was used to analyze the data with p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: There were differences in spermatozoa count between the control group and the treatment group. Provision of noise exposure with a value above the threshold limit reduces the number of male Swiss Webster mice spermatozoa given with grape seed extract. Objective: To determine the effect of deep breathing exercises on lung volumes and capacities among smokers. Methodology: The participants were divided into a control group and an experimental group. The control group was not given any treatment, while the experimental group performed deep breathing exercise techniques. The experimental group performed exercises for six weeks. After six weeks lung function tests were performed to evaluate the effects. Data were compared at baseline and after the intervention. To check within the group's changes paired sample t-test was used. To check between groups changes independent sample t-test was used for normally distributed data. Results: In the experimental group, significant changes (p ≤ 0.05) were observed after the intervention. While comparing groups, significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) were observed in some variables between experimental and control groups.Conclusion: It was concluded that deep breathing exercises are useful among smokers. As deep breathing helps in improving lung volumes and capacities.

Abstract Background Cervical proprioception is critical in the maintenance of posture and movements, so its assessment in different cervical conditions has gained importance in recent clinical practice. Studies reporting this assessment in subjects with cervical spondylosis (CS) have not previously been investigated. The goals of the study are (1) comparison of joint position error (JPE) in subjects with CS to healthy control group. (2) Correlation of neck pain intensity to cervical proprioception in patients with CS. Methods In a Cross-sectional study, 132 subjects with CS and 132 healthy age-matched control subjects were evaluated for cervical JPE with the cervical range of motion device. The subjects were blindfolded and repositioned their heads to a target position, which was determined by the examiner previously and their repositioning accuracy (absolute error in degrees) was measured in the frontal (flexion and extension) and transverse planes (left rotation and right rotation). The CS subjects resting neck pain intensity was assessed using visual analog scale (VAS). Results CS subjects showed statistically significantly larger JPEs compared to healthy control subjects in all the directions tested (flexion - 95% CI = 2.38–3.55, p < 0.001, extension - 95% CI =3.26–4.33, p < 0.001, left rotation - 95% CI = 2.64 - 3.83, p < 0.001, right rotation − 95% CI = 3.77–4.76, p < 0.001). The mean JPE errors in the CS group ranged from 6.27° to 8.28° and in the control group ranged from 2.36° to 4.48°. Pearson’s correlation coefficient showed a significant and positive relationship between neck pain intensity and cervical proprioception (p ≤ 0.001). Conclusions Proprioception is impaired in subjects with CS when compared to healthy control group. Higher pain intensity was associated with greater cervical JPE in patients with CS.

PurposeThe study's purpose was to explore the impact of multitasking on efficiency and accuracy and the relationship between individual differences and multitasking ability.Design/methodology/approachAn experimental study was conducted with individuals that completed an in-box exercise and a personality assessment. Three groups were established as follows: those that completed the in-box exercise without interruption (control group), those that were given a portion of the same initial task but were then interrupted and given an additional task (low multitask group) and those that were given the same initial tasks, then interrupted three times (high multitask group).FindingsThe results show that there were significant effects of gender and age on multitasking efficiency. Females made fewer errors than males. Younger and older participants took more time to complete the experiment, which indicates an inverted U relationship and may mean that people become more effective at multitasking with experience and practice, but then less effective as they get older. The study also found that personality had no significant effect on multitasking efficiency.Research limitations/implicationsThe study was limited in that the sample was 91 percent female, did not include anyone over the age of 51 and did not measure intelligence or experience.Practical implicationsThe findings may have implications for employee training, evaluation and formulation of workplace standards and regulations.Orginality/valueThis study provides empirical research extending the understanding of the nature and impact of multitasking and individual differences based on gender, age and personality.

Autonomous navigation in novel environments still represents a challenge for people with visual impairment (VI). Pin array matrices (PAM) are an effective way to display spatial information to VI people in educative/rehabilitative contexts, as they provide high flexibility and versatility. Here, we tested the effectiveness of a PAM in VI participants in an orientation and mobility task. They haptically explored a map showing a scaled representation of a real room on the PAM. The map further included a symbol indicating a virtual target position. Then, participants entered the room and attempted to reach the target three times. While a control group only reviewed the same, unchanged map on the PAM between trials, an experimental group also received an updated map representing, in addition, the position they previously reached in the room. The experimental group significantly improved across trials by having both reduced self-location errors and reduced completion time, unlike the control group. We found that learning spatial layouts through updated tactile feedback on programmable displays outperforms conventional procedures on static tactile maps. This could represent a powerful tool for navigation, both in rehabilitation and everyday life contexts, improving spatial abilities and promoting independent living for VI people.
