A three-line sunflower hybrid Nika was developed by hybridization of a simple sterile hybrid Donskoy 59 and a line-restorer of pollen fertility ED 155 at the Don experimental station. It is characterized by high productivity, over the years of testing, it exceeded the control on seed yield by 0.25 t per ha, on oil collection per hectare by 0.16 t per ha. According to the length of the vegetative period (98–104 days), it can be attributed to the middle-early group. Plant height is up to 170–180 cm. The leaves are large, the bubbling is very weak, and serration is large. Heads of medium size when maturing turned down with a straight stem. Achenes are broadly ovate, black with grey stripes along the edges and between the edges. The main distinguishing feature of the hybrid is its high productivity and resistance to the new aggressive races of broomrape (E, F, G) and downy mildew (race 330). The hybrid Nika has been included into the State register of protected breeding achievements of the Russian Federation since 2019 and allowed to be cultivated in the Central Black Soil (5), Northern Caucasus (6), Middle Volga (7), Low Volga (8), Ural (9), and Western Siberian (10) regions of Russia.

Potential yield of the modern oil flax varieties is up to 2.5–3.0 t/ha, but in fact, in 2020, its average yield was equal to 0.81 t/ha in the Russian Federation and 0.86 t/ha тin the Southern federal district. One of the reasons of such low productivity of the crop is non-effective protection of sowings against weeds. We studied impact of tank mixtures of herbicides Tifi, WDG (0.025 kg/ha) + Miura, CE (1.2 l/hа); Magnum, WDG (0.01 kg/hа) + Miura, CE (1.2 l/hа); Sekator Turbo, OD (0.1 l/hа) + Miura, CE (1.2 l/hа) and Sekator Turbo, OD (0.1 l/hа) + Quickstep, OCE (0.8 l/hа) on oil flax productivity (the variety FLIZ bred at the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops). The researches were conducted in a zone of unstable moistening on leach black soil of the Western Ciscaucasia in 2017–2020. Recommended doses of tank mixtures of the herbicides were applied in a phase of 5-6 pairs of leaves development of oil flax plants. In spite of the good water availability in years of the research, high air temperatures during flowering – seeds formation negatively influenced the crop productivity. Due to our results, on average for four years, treatment of oil flax plants with a tank mixture of the herbicides Sekator Turbo, OD (0.1 l/hа) + Quickstep, OCE (0.8 l/hа) allowed obtaining the highest yield – 1.17 t/hа, oil content in seeds – 45.5% and oil yield – 0.47 t/hа; there was fixed the high clear profit – 13,861 RUR/hа at profitability of 51%.

In article questions of selection of mint – a valuable aromatic plant in our country are considered. Using wild-growing types of mints as donors of the economic and useful signs and also various methods of selection – clonal selection, hybridization, a mutagenesis by selectors are created the high-yield, steady against biotic and abiotic factors of the external environment, adapted to cultivation to concrete soil climatic conditions grades of mint of different purpose. Their comparative sortoispytaniye in the conditions of the Nonchernozem zone of the Russian Federation showed that on set of economic and valuable signs Medichka  grades, Lekarstvennaya 4, Yantarnaya and Aromatnaya, possessing a good bouquet and aroma of an essential oil which are the most perspective for cultivation on a mint leaf, whereas grades the Moskvichka and Kubanskaya 6 with the increased content of menthol in oil more are suitable for production of an essential oil and mentholum were allocated. The profitability level of peppermint production due to the peculiarities of the varieties, their yield, resistance to abiotic and biotic factors, and the high costs of manual labor during planting, depends on the region of cultivation. In most cases, this is due to the shortcomings of the existing assortment of this crop in a given zone. A set of varieties is needed that can use the favorable environmental factors (natural and anthropogenic) with the greatest efficiency and stand against stress factors simultaneously. The further selection work with mint directed to increase in content biologically of the active materials in a feed stock, has to be conducted with use of methods of genomic selection.

A simple sunflower hybrid Taizar was developed at V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops as part of a breeding and genetic program for developing highly productive hybrids resistant to the new virulent races of broomrape by using the method of backcrossing in combination with an evaluation of resistance in each generation for the target gene Or7. The hybrid Taizar is of mid-early group of ripeness, it has a high yield, it is resistant to Orobanche cumana Wallr. (races A-G) and downy mildew (races 330, 710, 730, 334, 734). The line-restorer of pollen fertility VK 305 is the paternal form of the hybrid Taizar. The line was developed as a result of the introduction of the Or7 gene from the RG line by two backcrosses into the line VK 303, subsequent inbreeding and selection of broomrape-resistant genotypes. The line VK 305 has narrow widely spaced ray flowers strongly curved towards the back of the head, which can serve as a morphological marker of genetic purity.

Brown mustard is one of the valuable oil crops which allows increasing the production of edible vegetable oil. In the conditions of insufficient moisture in the Rostov region, new cultivars of brown mustard are being developed, which combine yield, early maturity with high product quality and are resistant to stress factors. A new cultivar of brown mustard Alisa was bred by the method of individual selection from the hybrid population G-2384 (G-2319 × 50041). According to the results of competitive trials for 2017–2019, the cultivar Alisa exceeded the standard cultivar Lux by seed yield by 0.31 t per ha, seed oil content – by 0.8%. The brown mustard cultivar Alisa is characterized by a lower plant height, increased tolerance to major pathogens, and greater resistance to lodging. Plants are well uniformed in height, blooming and maturity. The cultivar was registered in 2020 in the State Register of breeding achievements approved for production. It is recommended for cultivation for grain in all regions of the Russian Federation.

Relevance. Over the past decades, new and extremely virulent races have appeared in the southern regions of the Russian Federation, which overcame the resistance of domestic and foreign sunflower range of varieties. The most effective, long-term, and biologically safe way to protect sunflower from broomrape is to develop varieties and hybrids resistant to new races.Methods. We identified broomrape seeds of race G using internationally accepted differentiator lines: Record 1-3 (C), S-1358 (D), P-1380 (E), LC1093 and P96 (F). We used sunflower lines and hybrids of the breeding of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops as a parent material. We carried out the evaluation of broomrape resistance by the method of A.Ya. Panchenko. To develop an infectious background, we introduced seeds of broomrape race G into boxes with a soil and sand mixture at the rate of 200 mg per 1 kg of the mixture, distributing them evenly. We grew sunflower plants at a temperature of 25-27 °С and a 16-hour photoperiod. In 25-30 days after the emergence if seedlings, we dug up plants and counted the broomrape specimens on their roots by a scale.Results. We developed sunflower lines resistant to races of broomrape from A to G. All of them are of branched form, with different lengths of the period from germination to flowering, they differ in height and oil content. The line L 82 is distinguished by a high content of oleic acid in oil — 91%. The lines have a high combinability. We obtained experimental hybrid combinations using these lines.

Diseases are one of the main factors limiting the receiving of high yields of soybean. The use of biopreparations for plant protection will result in successful disease control and improve the quality of products. In 2018-2020, at V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (Krasnodar), we studied the application effectiveness of biopreparations under the trademarks of BSka-3 with the active ingredients Trichoderma veride, Pseudomonas koreensis, Bacillus subtilis and BFTIM with the active ingredient Bacillus amyloliquefaciens against soybean diseases. We applied organic fungicides for seed treatment and on vegetative plants at the budding stage. The variants BSka-3 G + BFTIM G (62 %) and BSka-3 Zh + BFTIM Zh (50 %) showed the highest biological effectiveness against purple Cercospora blight, and the variant BSka-3 E + BFTIM E showed 66 % and 52 % of effectiveness against pustular and angular spot diseases. The biological effectiveness of Pyraclostrobin, EC against purple Cercospora blight, pustular and angular spot diseases was the lowest – 21, 12, and 10 %, respectively. We observed the best economic efficiency in case of application of BSka-3 E + BFTIM G – 2.31 t/ha.

Efficiency of new natural growth stimulator Raykat Start for seedling plant growing (tobacco) has been studied on the base of All-Russian research institute of tobacco makhorka and tobacco products. We used west-subcaucasian leached black soil on the experimental field. Laboratorial, greenhouse and field experiments have discovered that soaking seeds in solution with concentration of growth stimulator 0.0001 % during 6 hours leads to germs mass increasing by 70 %. Seeds treatment before sowing with efficient concentration of stimulator (0.0001 %) in combination with further double spraying (in basic stages ofplant development: “cotyledon” and “ready for transplanting” before pulling plants from seedbed) on plants until their total moistening of above earth plant parts leads to increasing plant length from collar to growing point by 32 %, to leaf tips - by 23 %, above earth plant mass - by 78 %, root mass - by 60 %, stalk diameter in collar part - by 25 %. It was also noticed significant decreasing of stalk and root decays (up to 52 %) in areas with plants treated by stimulator. Surviving of transplanted plants treated with Raykat Start was 95 %, they had increased growing and developing rates both in the beginning of field stage and in the end of vegetation. These led to increasing plant length, leaf area, which increased by 31 % and plant productivity which increased by 17.6 %.
