Free radicals in the body are responsible for physiological stress and deterioration of the body functions. The antioxidants are used to fight the oxygen-free radicles and neutralize them. Apart from the potency of the drugs as antioxidants, there had been many reported side effects of synthetic drugs. Herbs are used as alternatives for the treatment of many diseases which are devoid of side effects. The current research focusses on the comparison of the antioxidant profile of the ethanol and methanol extracts of leaves of Tectona. Tectona grandis extracts were tested for antioxidant activities and compared with ethanol and methanol extracts in various methods. The results showed that the methanol extract showed better activity than that of the ethanol extract and when compared to the standard extracts showed higher antioxidant activity.

Oxidation is an essential reaction in the human body, which determines the expression of proteins in the body. This results in the altered expression like rapid growth resulting in cancers and other disorders. Many synthetic drugs are available in the market that is effective in limiting the free radical generation and the reaction of radicals with cells. Unfortunately, all those synthetic drugs were found to cause side effects and adverse effects in the body. But given the accuracy of the predictability of the results and administration, this research focuses on testing the anti-oxidant efficiency in rat models testing the biochemical parameters. Investigations have also been done on the anti-oxidant activity of Tectona, but every research was concentrated to prove the anti-oxidant activity only. extract had been tested for anti-oxidant activity by estimating various tissue parameters and it showed better activity. As predicted, there is a significant difference in the and results which can be explained are due to the physiological conditions that exist inside the body.

Objective: Phytochemical is naturally present in the seaweeds which biologically play a significant role. The intention of this study was designed to screen the phytochemical constituents and antimicrobial potential of selected seaweed collected from Rameshwaram and Tuticorin Southern coast of India.Methods: The present study investigated the presence of phytochemical constituents and also total phenol, total carbohydrate and total protein quantity of the brown seaweed. Dictyopteris delicatula, Padina gymnospora, Acanthophora spicifera, Portieria hornemannii and Ulva faciata were extracted with solvents having different polarities like methanol, ethanol, chloroform and water and screened for the phytochemical constituents, total phenol, total carbohydrate, total protein and DPPH with standard procedure. The antibacterial activities of the seaweeds were examined by agar well diffusion method.Results: Among the five seaweeds, U. faciata showed the maximum number of active constituents in the methanol extract likewise P. gymnospora was found to have a number of diligent compounds in ethanol extract. A. spicifera showed minimum compounds in ethanol as well as chloroform extract. Moreover A. spicifera, P. hornemannii have shown the superior quantity of protein and carbohydrate when compared to other species. The scavenging activity of methanol extracts at 5 mg/ml concentration P. hornemannii shows 18.2% and A. spicifera possess 17.1%. In the antibacterial activity, methanol extracts of all the seaweed showed a potential inhibitory activity against B. cereus and P. aeruginosa compared to other pathogens.Conclusion: The crude extract of seaweed manifest preferable antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, hence in the future, it would be good if it is further taken for treatment of human diseases or as new antimicrobial agents to replace synthetic antimicrobial agents.

Aim: Study aimed to evaluate the in vitro antisalmonellal and antioxidant properties of Tectona grandis, a medicinal plant commonly used in traditional Cameroonian medicine for the treatment of typhoid fever. Study Design: In vitro Antimicrobial and antioxidant analyses of plant extract using established protocols. Place and Duration of Study: Plant materiel collection at Loum (Moungo Division, Littoral region of Cameroon), identification at the National Herbarium of Cameroon, extraction of plant and all analyses at the Research Unit of Microbiology and Antimicrobial Substances, Department of Biochemistry, University of Dschang-Cameroon, between August 2018 and April 2019. Methodology: In vitro antisalmonellal activity of Tectona grandis extracts was evaluated by the liquid microdilution method as well as their antioxidant activity using by standard methods of H2O2 trapping, FRAP, DPPH radical trapping and OH radical trapping. Quantification test of total phenols and flavonoids and phytochemical screening of extract were also done. Results: The results showed that most of the Tectona grandis extracts had minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranging from 64 to 1024 μg/mL. Ethanolic extract, 70% ethanol extract and aqueous decoction are the most effective compared to aqueous extracts with activities between 64 and 128 μg/mL on the bacteria tested. Antioxidant tests showed that all extracts except macerated and aqueous infused extracts exhibited high DPPH trapping activities. The antioxidant activities of the extracts are proportionally linked in most cases to their flavonoid and total phenol contents at a concentration of 200 µg/mL. Aqueous decoction showed better H2O2 trapping activity at concentrations less than or equal to 25 µg/mL. Conclusion: These results show that the ethanolic extract and decocted aqueous of Tectona grandis leaves can be used as an alternative to treat salmonellosis.

Out of most of the dreadful diseases in the world Diabetes, shortly known as DM, is the most dreadful. The primary cause of diabetes is the lack of insulin due to the insufficient secretion of insulin by the pancreas or the insensitivity of the body to reuptake the insulin. This results in the accumulation of the sugar or glucose in the blood, only thereby disturbing all the other physiological conditions in the body. Herbs, as we know, are devoid of or have very fewer side effects when compared to the antidiabetic synthetic drugs. There is evidence to show that the herbs are safer and the chemical leads that are isolated from the medicinal plants are potent in controlling diabetes. The antidiabetic activity of herbs was proven, and the mechanism of action of the drugs was also established in many pieces of research. The polyherbal churna was prepared using various herbs like Tinospora, Glycerrihiza etc. that are already proven for the antidiabetic activity. This formulation was investigated for the antidiabetic activity at two doses and was compared with a marketed formulation and also a standard synthetic drug in STZ induced DM method. The prepared churna formulation showed a better activity compared with the standard and the marketed churna. The prepared churna at 200mg dose showed better activity than the 100mg dose.

PUD is the most common disease that affects a majority of the population in the world and young people being the most affected out of all the ulcer patients. This disease involves a large number of causes like NSAID, malnutrition and deficiency, unhealthy lifestyles like chronic smoking and stress. In recent years, a rapid progressive understanding had been made concerning the mechanism of ulcers and its treatment protocols. Given the side effects of the available synthetic drugs, it calls for an investigation of newer medications which are of herbal origins. As per the literature, survey says Tectona grandis ethanol extract has been proved to show the anti-ulcer activity and considering the solubility and extractive capabilities of methanol over ethanol; the current research was performed to determine the anti-ulcer potency of methanol extract of Tectona roots. The results showed that Tectona methanol extract is way more efficient in treating ulcers in comparison to the standard drug omeprazole.

Antioxidants can neutralize free radicals that can affect biological systems in the body that can cause degenerative diseases. Antibacterial active molecules have been identified from plants, and these chemicals are being utilized to develop new and promising treatments. The Mobe plant (Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham.) is a species of Artocarpus member of the Moraceae family. Includes a high proportion of phenolic compounds (flavonoids and phenolic acid). This research obtained to know about the biological activity of Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham and their total flavonoid and total phenolic content. The extract was prepared using the soxhletation technique using ethanol as the solvent. Antibacterial activity was determined using minimum inhibitor concentration. Propionibacterium acne can be inhibited at concentrations ranging from 300 ppm to 25 ppm. The DPPH technique was used to assess antioxidant activity. The samples’ total flavonoid and phenolic content were measured colorimetrically. The DPPH test revealed an antioxidant activity of 23.33 g/mL, which was used to compute the IC50. The extract’s total phenolic (117.44 mg GAE/g) and flavonoid (3.54 mg QE/g) content were determined to be high.

Antioxidants are thought to help the body fight Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Antioxidants are defined as “any substance that significantly slows or inhibits oxidation when present in trace amounts relative to an oxidizable substrate.” Antimicrobials generated from plants have been used to treat infectious diseases for millennia. Many investigations have been done on the antibacterial effects of herbal plant extracts., including roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Artocarpus altilis is a versatile tree plant that is a rich source of calcium, phosphorus, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. Various parts of breadfruit are used as food, cosmetic medicine, clothing, treating diarrhea, high blood pressure, and asthma. This study obtained about determine biological activities of Artocarpus altilis Leaves. The extract was prepared using water with the soxhletation method. The antibacterial activity was determined with minimun inhibitor concentration method with concentration 300-25 mg/mL can inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, The MIC is the lowest concentration that may stop bacterial growth, and the number of bacteria is 10 colonies. 60.13 0.54 ppm antioxidant activity, fenol (224.67 mg GAE/g) and flavonoids (27.63 mg QE/g). The results show that Artocarpus altilis leaf ethanol extract is antibacterial and antioxidant.

Nothaphoebe coriacea (in Kalimantan, Indonesia, commonly known as gemor) is a native wetland-plants that can grow well in swampy areas. This tree is distributed throughout South and Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The bark of Nothaphoebe coriacea is used for bioactive compound source for larvacide, mosquito repellent, hio and glue. The objective of this research was to investigate the ultrasound-assisted extraction methods for the extraction of antioxidants compounds of Nothaphoebe coriacea. The barks were subjected to ultrasound‐assisted ethanolic and hexane extraction followed by fractionation (using ethyl acetate, chloroform, and hexane) and the antioxidant activity test was performed. The activity of antioxidant was carried out through a DPPH method. The highest antioxidant activities are shown in ethanol extract with IC50 value of 72.36 μg/mL and chloroform fraction of ethanol extract with IC50 value of 54.18 μg/mL.

 Objective: Antioxidants are vital substances which possess the ability to protect the body from damage caused by free radical-induced oxidative stress. The purpose of this study is to determine antioxidant activities of alkaloid fractions of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. fruits.Methods: Z. acanthopodium DC. fruit was extracted by maceration. Ethanol extract was fractionated with liquid-liquid extraction using n-hexane and chloroform at pH 3, 7, 9, and 11 to obtained alkaloid fractions. Antioxidant activity for extract and fractions was determined with 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl.Results: The IC50 of extract and fractions was 101.11±0.11, 273.24±0.12, 116.62±0.04, 61.12±0.01, 23.15±0.01, and 112.39±0.04 μg/mL, respectively.Conclusion: The results reveal that alkaloid fractions of Z. acanthopodium DC. fruit have very strong antioxidant potential. Our further study is to isolate the alkaloid compounds.

Inflammation is a protective mechanism of the body which involves vascular tissues, plasma proteins or cells and chemical mediators for the removal of hazardous stimuli like pathogens, allergens, irritants or cell damage and initiates the healing process. Anti-inflammatory drugs like steroidal and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used to treat inflammation. Recently, the synthetic drugs shows a number of side effects such as kidney failure, ulceration and bleeding, liver damage etc. Therefore a search for the other substitute with no or less side effects is necessary. Plants are used from ancient times to treat various serious disorders. Plant constitutes a large number of chemicals which are responsible for the treatment of disease in an archaistic manner. The present review was pile up various plants with anti-inflammatory potential.
