Effectiveness of Dry Extract Mahoni Seed Consumption on Blood Sugar Level in Diabetes Mellitus

ABSTRACT Background: An increase in blood sugar levels caused diabetes mellitus, and various other health complications. One of the herbal therapy approaches can be used by consuming mahogany seeds which are believed to reduce blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of consuming mahogany seeds to reduce blood sugar levels. Subjects and Method: This was a quasi-experiment with non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design conducted on March 24-26 2020. A sample of 22 respondents was divided into 2 groups: treatment group and control group selected by purposive sampling. The data was collected by observation. The data was analysed by Paired t-test. Results: The treatment group before consuming the dry extract of Mahogany seeds (Mean= 258.27; SD= 46.98), and after consuming the dry extract of Mahogany seeds (Mean= 185.36; SD= 38.85). In the control group, before consuming the extract of Mahogany seed ekring (Mean= 224.27; SD= 14.73), and after consuming Mahogany seed extract (Mean= 213.27; SD= 6.75). It was statistically significant (p= 0.001). Conclusion: Consumption of dry extract of Mahogany seeds effectively reduces blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Consumption of mahogany seeds can be used as a complementary therapy in nursing to reduce blood sugar. Keywords: Consumption of dry extract of Mahogany Seeds, Diabetes Mellitus. Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is metabolic disorder syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia due to deficiency of insulin secretion. Patients of diabetic patients increases each year, so it needs proper handling. Corn flour is a source of carbohydrates with a low glycemic index to help reduce the rise in blood sugar levels. In addition, supplementation with tempeh flour containing isoflavones act to protect cells from free radical thereby inhibiting damage cells. Fiber in tempeh affect blood glucose levels because it slows the absorption of glucose.Objective: To determine the effect supplementation of corn flour with tempeh flour on blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus Wistar rats.Methods: The study was true experimental design with Pre-posttest control group design, samples were 20 male Wistar rats aged 2-3 months were then divided into 4 groups (T0, T1, T2, T3.) T0 was injected with alloxan as 30 mg / 150 grams of BB rats are subsequently treated with standard diet; T1 was dministered by standard diet 50% + 50% corn flour; T2 was administered by standard diet 50% + 30% + corn flour tempeh flour 20%; and T3 was administered by standard diet of corn flour 50% + 15% + 35% tempeh flour for 2 weeks. Blood glucose levels were measured with a glucose kit (GOD FS). Research data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA followed by Tukey's Post Hoc test p-value <0.05.Results: There were significant differences on blood sugar levels in all groups (p = 0.000): control group (only dietary standards), T1 (administered by standard diet 50% + corn flour 50%), T2 (administered by a standard diet 50% + cornstarch 30% tempeh flour + 20%) and T3 (administered by standard diet of corn flour 50% + 15% + 35% tempeh flour).Conclusion: corn flour with tempeh flour supplementation effect on decresing of blood sugar levels.

The routine and long-term use of oral antidiabetic drugs in DM patients can make the public's perception worried about the side effects of the drug. In the Yakon (SS) plant tuber there is Fructooligosacaraide (FOS) which can reduce blood sugar levels. The research objective was to determine the effect of Yakon plant tubers on blood sugar levels in white rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus model. This type of research was experimental with a pre-post test design with control-group design. Independent variable, administration of Yakon plant tuber powder, dependent variable, blood glucose levels. The sample was divided into 2 groups (dose 1, dose 2) and a control group, each of 6 rats. The mice were given a high carbohydrate diet for 9 weeks. Treatment dose 1 (100 mg / kgBB) for 3 days. Measurement of blood sugar levels using Gluco-Dr. Data analysis used Paired Sample T-test, Independent Sample T-test, and One Way Anova. The results showed that the rats in the treatment group dose 1 experienced a decrease in the average blood sugar level of 122.83 mg / dl (p 0.002) (p 0.009). This shows that there is an effect of using Yakon plant tuber powder on blood sugar levels. The results of this study were the control group and the treatment group dose 1 (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000, α = 0.05). Meanwhile, the comparison results showed that there was a difference between the control group and the treatment group at dose 1, Based on the above research, Yakon tubers can be used to reduce blood sugar levels.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder marked increase in blood glucose. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 the incidence of diabetes mellitus in the world reached 347 million people in Indonesia alone ranks among the seven countries with the highest diabetes prevalence of 7.6 million people. Among the causes of the increase in blood glucose levels in diabetics is due to psychological factors, namely anxiety. In the pre-survey results in Puskesmas Sumbersari Bantul note that from 8 patients with diabetes mellitus, there are 6 people experiencing anxiety and 2 do not complain any signs of anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of anxiety with blood glucose levels of diabetics mellitus in Puskesmas Sumbersari Bantul District of South Metro City. The type quantitative research, form design used is cross sectional. The population in this study are patients with diabetes mellitus in Puskesmas Sumbersari Bantul District of South Metro totaling 408 samples taken as many as 41 people. The analysis in this study using the test Person Product Moment. Statistical analysis showed that anxiety patients with diabetes mellitus are at an average score of 27.44 with a standard deviation of 4.353 and the average blood sugar levels of people with diabetes mellitus are at 339.78 mg / dL with a standard deviation of 74.742. In the Person Product Moment test results proved no relationship anxiety with blood sugar levels of people with diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0.000 <a 0.05). Pearson correlation results obtained value of 0.817 towards a positive correlation with the strength of the relationship is very strong. Conclusions research shows there is an anxiety relationship with blood glucose levels of diabetics mellitus.

We report the supplementation of noni (Morinda citrifolia) to decrease blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus Brawijaya Hospital Surabaya, and noni problems whether supplementation is effective in reducing blood sugar levels in diabetes patients mellitus.The goal of this study was to determine the effectiveness of capsule morinda to decrease blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Brawijaya Hospital Surabaya. This type of research is to ekperimem quasi control group design with pre-test and post test. The population in this study are patients with diabetes mellitus in hospital outpatient Brawijaya. The sampling technique with a number of 60 people who were divided into 30 groups of control (can drug from a doctor) and 30 in the experimental group (can medicine from the doctor and consumption of noni capsules) .Instrumen this study is the laboratory results of random blood sugar levels with the tools glucometer ( gluko Dr). Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate (parametric test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test z and Independent T-Test). From the results, no significant difference the difference in the results of pre-test and post-test in the control group and the experiment is p = 0.020 (<0.05), then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted (the results are meaningful). It is concluded that supplementation of noni effective in helping to decrease blood sugar levels of patients with diabetes mellitus, it is advisable to consume noni capsules and routine checks of blood sugar levels so that the blood sugar levels under control.

Background: DM (Diabetes Mellitus) is a chronic/chronic metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) caused by insufficient amounts of insulin or insufficient amounts of insulin, sometimes even more effective, this condition is called insulin resistence. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of ma’tsurat dhikr therapy in reducing blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at dr. Dradjat Prawiranegara Hospital Serang in 2018. Methods: The number of samples of this study was 34 respondents and the method was quasi-experimental. The data was analyzed by independent T-Test. The respondents of experimental group received DM exercise and morning-evening dhikr intervention, while the control group only received DM exercise intervention. Results:The results of the study showed that ma’tsurat dhikr affects significantly on the decrease of bloods ugarlevelsinpatienntswithtype2DMatdr.DradjatPrawiranegara Hospital Serang with p value<0.005. Conclusion: Intervention of ma’tsurat dhikr can be recommended for type 2 DM patients with elevated blood sugar levels in patients.

Diabetes mellitus is a disease or metabolic disorder that is most often found in society, including one of the diseases or metabolic disorders. Tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L) is a plant that can be used as an alternative treatment for Diabetes Mellitus which contains flavonoids, sapoin and tannins, which can lower glucose levels and inhibit glucose absorption in the blood. This study aims to determine the differences in blood sugar levels before and after giving tamarind leaves infusion in the village community of Tanjung Bumi. This type of research is Quasy Experiment Design and purposive sampling technique with a sample of 29 respondents. Based on the results of the paired t-test statistical analysis showed a significant difference (p = 0.000) between the blood sugar levels of the group and placebo. Meanwhile, in the posttest the treatment group after giving tamarind leaves showed the same as the control group, namely p = 0.000, which means that there is also a difference in the decrease in blood sugar levels between the sebelum pemberian perlakuan and posttest. The results of statistical tests with the Independent T-Test showed the results in both groups with a value of p = 0.000, meaning that there was a difference in the decrease in blood sugar levels between the control group and the treatment group. Steeping tamarind leaves has an effect in reducing blood sugar levels in the body

BACKGROUND: The increasing of diabetes mellitus cases in Indonesia may be due to changes in people’s lifestyles, which is lack of exercise. Factors that may contribute to the high prevalence of diabetes mellitus sufferers other than genetics are exacerbated by environmental factors. Exercise interventions have been effective in counterbalancing diabetes complications. Yoga exerts a beneficial effect on insulin kinetics and the resulting lipid profile. Yoga helps redistribute body fat and reduces obesity which may lead to insulin resistance. In addition, other types of physical activity that can be done by diabetes mellitus patients are adequate morning walking while having scenery leisure for 30 min or more. AIM: This study was conducted to determine the effect of yoga therapy and walking therapy on diabetes mellitus patients in the community. METHODS: Quantitative research using randomized control trial, conducted in Gedongan Village, Baki Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency, involving 54 samples divided into three groups. Inclusion criteria: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, fasting glucose levels of 126 mg/dl, no complication, and no insulin therapy or diabetes medication. The outcome measured was fasting blood sugar levels. The intervention group performed therapy for 12 weeks with a duration of 3 times a week. RESULTS: The average fasting sugar levels in the yoga group pre (217.00) post (187.72) p (0.001), the walking group averaged pre (209.89) post (193.83) p (0.001), and the control group averaged pre (221.50) post (225.17) p (0.067). CONCLUSION: There was an effect of yoga therapy and walking therapy on reducing fasting glucose levels.

In 2012 diabetes mellitus is the cause of death from 1,5 million (WHO,2016). The population of diabetes mellitus (DM) in indonesia is currently ranked fifth in tyhe world. In 2013 people with diabetes mellitus in the homeland reaches 8.554.155 people. The continuous increase in the number of patients with diabetes mellitus and the magnitudeof the cost of treatment due to complications, then the best effort is prevention. Exercise of physical exercise is an early attempt to prevent, control, and overcome diabetes. Type of Quasi Experimenta research with Non Randomited Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design methods. Research location in RS Dr. H. Marzoeki Mahdi dated 26 April 2017 number of sample counted 32 respondents with diabetes mellitus with sample Purposive Sampling. Tools used in date collection are Accu-Chek Akctive and observation sheet. Technique of date analysis is bivariate analysis with SPSSM program. The influence of diabetes mellitus gymnastics on changes in blood sugar levels in Dr. H. Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital in 2017. The ntervention group of blood sugas levels before gymnastics and after gymnastics decreased 24,69 mg/dL, in the control group of blood sugar levels on the first day and the fourth day increased 10,56 mg/dL. Statistical test results using Independent T Test obtained P value = 0,000 which means P value <0,05 means the influence of diabetes gymnastics to changes in blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus in Dr. H. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by blood glucose levels exceeding normal and impaired metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins due to a relative or absolute deficiency of insulin hormones. This study aimed to determine the relationship between dietary compliance, physical activity, and adherence to taking medication with blood sugar levels when in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This type of research was analytical with a cross-specific approach that uses a sample of 46 Rejang tribal diabetes mellitus patients who come to Curup Health Center, Prumnas Health Center and Delima Village Health Center during the period of August to October 2018 which met the criteria for inclusion and exclusion. The instruments used were food recall forms, questionnaires, medical records and glucometers. The results of the study were processed by bivariate analysis using the chi square test and multivariate analysis with logistic regression test. The results of the bivariate statistical test dietary compliance variable p = 0.001 OR = 15,343, CI = 3,327-67,636, and the medication adherence variable p = 0,035, OR = 4,038, CI 1,061-15,370. There was a significant relationship between diet compliance, adherence to taking medication with blood sugar levels when in patients with diabetes melititus Rejang tribe Rejang Lebong District. DM patients are expected to always adhere to diet, physical activity and medication treatment.
