Ecological studies on Nepenthes at Peat Swamps Forest Natural Laboratory, Kereng Bangkirai Sabangau, Central Kalimantan, was conducted on April to May, 2006. Survey method used for to known diversity of Nepenthes in study site and we made four small plots for population measurement. As the result, three species and one natural hybrid were founded, such as; Nepenthes gracilis, N. rafflesiana, N. ampullaria and N.xhookeriana. In study site, Nepenthes gracilis is wider distribution than other species, they can grow at open, rather shaded or shaded area and they have high density at open area. While, N. rafflesiana , N. ampullaria and N.xhooekeriana commonly foundedat rather shaded area or shaded area

Ecological studies on the Nepenthes species at Barito Ulu, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia were conducted between August 2005 and September 2006. Surveys and two small plot inventories were used to determine the diversity and population of Nepenthes at the study site. We found eight Nepenthes species around the BaritoUlu study area: N. albomarginata, N. ampullaria, N. gracilis, N. hirsuta, N. rafflesiana, N. reinwardtiana, N. stenophylla, and N. hispida. Plot A was dominated by N. rafflesiana with one other species found; whilst in plot B we found five species but it was also dominated by N. rafflesiana. In plot A, the one year stem length growth rate of N. albomarginata was faster than N. rafflesiana (5.0 and 3.5 cm respectively). While in plot B, N. gracilis (21.7 cm) and N. reinwardtiana (13.1 cm) showed faster growth rates than N. albomarginata (5.2 cm), N. rafflesiana (7.0 cm) and N. stenophylla (8.5 cm). Generally, the habitat of Nepenthes in the study site is heath forest.

Traditional knowledge on plant has a long-standing history in many indigenous communities, and continues to provide useful tools for treating various diseases. Tribal communities living in biodiversity rich areas possess a wealth of knowledge on the utilization and conservation of food and medicinal plants. They are well versed in the usage of plant for treating various diseases. The present study carryout by survey method aimed to identifying the plants used for the general health of the tribal communities such as Kadar, Muthuvar and Malai Malasars of Western Ghats region. Ethno medicinal information was gathered throughquestionnaire from the majority of tribal people of Valparai hills Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. All the traditional and other knowledge related to the collection and consumption of the medicinal plants, their environment on which communities depends was documented. The present study observed that, the tribal peoples from valparai having knowledge of 29 species on the traditional medicine. These tribes are one of the major conservators of environments. Their traditional knowledge can be utilized for the breeding technology of variety of threatened species and develop for the biodiversity conservation as well as for pharmacological research in various dimensions.

ABSTRAK Berdasarkan data dari Dinas Kehutanan dan Perkebunan Kabupaten Seruyan Pada Tahun 2015 tercatat bahwa perkebunan sawit swadaya mempunyai luasan sekitar 14.273 hektar dengan jumlah petani sebanyak 5.311 jiwa. Perkembangan yang pesat ini diperlukan adanya persiapan manajemen lahan sehingga menunjang keberlanjutan usaha dibidang ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kesesuaian lahan perkebunan sawit swadaya dan faktor pembatas bagi tanaman sawit di Kabupaten Seruyan, Kalimantan Tengah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey dan pemeriksaan terhadap kualitas tanah dilakukan di laboratorium. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa Kabupaten Seruyan memiliki lahan yang sangat sesuai untuk perkebunan sawit karena lahan perkebunan sawit tersebut telah memenuhi segala aspek yang berkaitan dengan persyaratan tumbuh tanaman sawit. Adapun faktor pembatas untuk pertumbuhan tanaman sawit di daerah ini adalah kondisi tanah yang miskin unsur hara. Kata Kunci: kesesuaian lahan, faktor pembatas, tanaman sawit  ABSTRACT Based on data from the Department of Forestry and Plantation Seruyan Regency In the Year 2015 noted that oil palm plantations have an area of 14.273 hectares with the number of farmers as many as 5.311 inhabitants. This rapid development required the preparation of land management so as to support the continuity of business in this field. This study aims to analyze the suitability level of smallholder oil palm plantations and barrier factors for oil palm in Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The research method used is survey method and examination on soil quality done in laboratory. Based on the results of the research, it is known that Seruyan Regency has a very suitable land for oil palm plantations because the plantation has fulfilled all aspects related to the requirement of oil palm plantation. Metroxylon sagu-based agroforestry can be an alternative pattern of rehabilitation of forests and peatlands. The study aimed to determine the social and economic aspects of Metroxylon sagu-based agro forestry activities in Pilang Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. Pilang Village a village located in a peat area. The research methodis a survey method with interviews and questionnaires. Respondents as there search sample were farmers who were selected purposively along with as many as 40 people with the criteria of having an area of land > 0.25 ha and there were Metroxylon sagu plants. Data analysis uses descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis for financial feasibility analysis (NPV and BCR). The results showed that socially Metroxylon sagu plant selection was determinedby: (1) hereditary (37.5%); (2) easy planting and maintenance (27.5%); (3) sourcesofincome (22%); and (4) others (12.5%). Metroxylon sagu-based agroforestry patterns can be distinguished by other types of vegetation, namely: (1) Metroxylon sagu, rubber and filler plants (32,5%); (2) Metroxylon sagu, rubber and wood (5%); (3) Metroxylon sagu, rubber, fruits and fill plants (20%); (4) Metroxylon sagu, fruit and plant fillings (42,5%). The contribution of Metroxylon sagu to Metroxylon sagu-based agroforestry revenuesis 7,63%. Based on commodity Metroxylon sagu, NPV value (5%) Rp102,464,359.8; (10%) Rp49,180,666.67; (15%) Rp47,0423,376.8 and BCR value (5%), (10%), (15%) is 23.47. Based on social and economic analysis, Metroxylonsagu-based agroforestry is recommended as an alternative to forest and peatland rehabilitation.

<em>This research aims to determine the diversity of Nepenthes species in Sipirok sub-district. Location determination research using survey method. The collection of the data is performed using the methods of exploration. Found 7 types of Nepenthes eustachya Nepenthes i.e., Nepenthes ovata, Nepenthes gracilis, Nepenthes rhombicaulis, Nepenthes reinwardtiana, Nepenthes tobaica and Nepenthes reinwardtiana natural silangan one x Nepenthes tobaica. Nepenthes found the lowlands and the Highlands. Nepenthes eustachya is found at an altitude of 1008 mdpl, where this type previously found only in lowland Sumatra.</em>

Kalampangan peat swamp forests in Central Kalimantan is home for Nepenthes spp. However, the number of Nephentes has been reduced due to massive forest fires and land conversion for housing and agricultural purposes. Nepenthes is a unique plant with ability to prey insects, hence often referred to as 'insectivorous plant'. This study investigates the distribution of Nepenthes spp. in Kalampangan forest through ground check and qualitative descriptive approach. A total of six observation plots measuring of 2m x 2m were used purposively. The results show there are four Nepenthes species found, namely Nepenthes gracilis, Nepenthes mirabilis, Nepenthes gracilis cortis, and Nepenthes ampularia. The highest Morisita index is 1.06 while the lowest one is 1.01.

ABSTRAK Salah satu proses pada ekosistem mangrove yang memberikan kontribusi  besar terhadap kesuburan perairan adalah proses dekomposisi atau penghancuran serasah mangrove. Penghancuran serasah merupakan bagian dari tahap proses dekomposisi, yang dapat menghasilkan nutrient  penting dalam rantai makanan, melalui produktivitas perairan disekitarnya, sebagaimana yang terjadi di Delta Sungai Wulan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui produksi serasah mangrove dan laju dekomposisinya berdasarkan tingkat kerapatan mangrove.Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survai hal ini dilakukan dalam tiga titik sampling, yang dikelompokkan pada tiga kategori kerapatan mangrove yaitu rendah, sedang dan tinggi.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan januari sampai maret 2016. Hasil penelitian  menemukan  tiga spesies mangrove yaitu Rhizopora mocrunata, Rhizopora apiculata, dan Avicennia marina. Jumlah serasah yang diperoleh pada kerapatan mangrove rendah adalah 701.51 gram, mangrove kerapatan sedang berjumlah 837.94 gram dan mangrove kerapatan tinggi berjumlah 1276.85 gram. Laju dekomposisi dalam 30 hari pengamatan dengan laju tertinggi berada pada mangrove kerapatan tinggi dengan persentase 29 – 30 %, sedangkan kerapatan mangrove rendah dan kerapatan mangrove sedang dengan persentase 28%. Kata kunci : Delta Sungai Wulan;Produksi Serasah;Laju Dekomposisi ABSTRACTOne of the processes at mangrove ecosystem which contributes greatly to the fertility waters is the process of decomposition or destruction of mangrove manure. Destruction of Manure is a part of the decomposition process, can produce an important nutrient in the food chain, by means of  productivity of the surroundings waters, as happened in Delta Wulan. The purpose of this study was to find out the mangrove manure production and the rate of decomposition is based on the density of mangrove. The method used is a survey method  to divide the three point sampling, which grouped in three categories mangrove density, low, medium and high. This research was conducted in January to March 2016. The result of research to found  three species of mangrove that Rhizopora mocrunata, Rhizophora apiculata and Avicennia marina. The amount of manure that is obtained at a low density is 701.51 grams, medium density amounted to 837.94 grams and high density mangrove amounted to 1276.85 grams. The rate of decomposition in the 30 days of observation by the highest rates are in the high density mangrove with a percentage of 29% - 30%, meanwhile low density mangrove and mangrove medium density with a percentage of 28%. Keywords : Delta Wulan River;Manure production;Decomposition rate

Sambas Botanical Garden is a conservation forest area that has a high diversity of flora and one of them is the Kantong Semar (Nepenthes spp). Research aims; (1) conducting a study of the species diversity of Kantong Semar (Nepenthes spp) in shrubs and open areas in the Sambas Botanical Garden, (2) Study to changes in the composition of Kantong Semar species (Nepenthes spp) in Sambas Botanical Garden, (3) determining species composition and dominant of kantong semar (Nepenthes spp) that grows in shrubs and open areas. This research was conducted by a survey method in which the laying of observation plots by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that the species diversity of Kantong Semar (Nepenthes spp) in the Sambas Botanical Garden was a low category with a value of 0.254 in shrubs and an open area of 0.01756. There was a change in the composition of the Kantong Semar species after two years of previous research. The change occurred where two new species of N. xneglecta and N.gracilis Korth that grown in Sambas Botanical Garden. Based on the results of morphological analysis, we found as many as 5 species of Kantong Semar consisting of N. mirabilis (Lour) Druce, N.gracilis Korth, N.ampullaria Jack, N. xneglecta, N. xhookeriana, which grow in shrubs, and N. mirabilis (Lour) in open area. The results of the analysis of the Importance Value Index (INP) that dominant species are N.ampullaria Jack with a value of 107.02 and N. xhookeriana 33.32 where both species of Kantong Semar grown in the shrub area.Keywords: Kantong semar (Nepenthes spp), shrubs and open area, Species diversity.

This research was conducted at State Senior High Schools in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, the purpose of this research is to know whether there is any significant relationship between Headmasters� Leadership Style toward the school effectiveness at State Senior high Schools in Palangka Raya simultaneously. This research was designed by using the correlation quantitative approach through survey method. The target population is all teachers at State Senior High Schools in Palangka Raya, which amount to 163 teachers. The total number of research sample was 115 teachers. The sample was taken by using randomized proportional sampling technique. The result of this research conclude that there was a significant relationship between Headmasters� Leadership Style with the School Effectiveness, represented by the linear regression Y= a + bX = 23,21 + 0,77X and correlation coefficient ry = 0.963 which is significant at a = 0,05. This result of this study is expected to be useful for improving the school effectiveness in achieving its vision and mission of the objective of an effective and efficient school. The director behavior leadership of school can empower the teachers to implement the process of learning a good, soft, and production, and management to implement the appropriate principles of leadership with the level of maturity of teachers and others school employees.

Nepenthes is a type of liana plant (vines) that can grow and develop in the tropical rain forest area. Nepenthes' appearance is very exotic because at of the leaf sheet pockets, appear with different colors and sizes. The unique characteristic that makes this plants different from others. The ability to catch insects that are used as nutrients to help their growth and development, marked by the formation of pockets at the tips of their leaves. The purpose of this research is to identify the species and sites of Nepenthes growth. Obtaining Nepenthes data found in the buffer forests of Sepan sub-village, Lanjak Deras Village, Batang Lupar District, Kapuas Hulu Regency. This study used a field survey method, with multiple plot technique. 45 observational plots were made with a size of 2 x 2 meters each. Six Nepenthes species were found, namely N. ampullaria, N. bicalcarata, N. gracilis, N. mirabilis, N. rafflesiana, N. reinwardtiana. The most common type found in the study site in the Buffor Forest Sepan sub-village, Lanjak Deras Village, is the type of Nepenthes gracilis with a total of 829 individuals. The fewest species found were Nepenthes bicalcarata with 17 individuals. Five from the six types of Nepenthes spp found at the research location were in the IUCN Red List, namely N. ampullaria, N. gracilis, N. mirabilis, N. rafflesiana and N. reinwardtiana included in conservation status, Least Concern (LC) or low risk (IUCN Red List, 2016)Keywords : Identification, Nepenthes, Lanjak Deras sub-village.AbstrakNepenthes merupakan jenis tanaman liana (sulur) yang dapat tumbuh dan berkembang di kawasan hutan hujan tropis. Penampilan Nepenthes sangat eksotik karena pada kantong-kantong lembaran daun, muncul dengan warna dan ukuran yang berbeda. Ciri khas yang membuat tanaman ini berbeda dari yang lain. Kemampuan menangkap serangga yang digunakan sebagai nutrisi untuk membantu pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya, ditandai dengan terbentuknya kantong-kantong pada ujung daunnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi spesies dan tempat tumbuhnya Nepenthes. Memperoleh data Nepenthes yang ditemukan di hutan penyangga Dusun Sepan, Desa Lanjak Deras, Kecamatan Batang Lupar, Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei lapangan, dengan teknik multiple plot. Dibuat 45 petak pengamatan dengan ukuran masing-masing 2 x 2 meter. Enam spesies Nepenthes yang ditemukan yaitu N. ampullaria, N. bicalcarata, N. gracilis, N. mirabilis, N. rafflesiana, N. reinwardtiana. Jenis yang paling banyak ditemukan di lokasi penelitian di Dusun Sepan Hutan Kerbau, Desa Lanjak Deras, adalah jenis Nepenthes gracilis dengan jumlah total 829 individu. Jenis yang paling sedikit ditemukan adalah Nepenthes bicalcarata dengan jumlah 17 individu. Lima dari enam jenis Nepenthes spp yang ditemukan di lokasi penelitian berada dalam Daftar Merah IUCN, yaitu N. ampullaria, N. gracilis, N. mirabilis, N. rafflesiana dan N. reinwardtiana termasuk dalam status konservasi, Least Concern (LC) atau berisiko rendah (Daftar Merah IUCN, 2016)Kata kunci : Identifikasi, Nepenthes, Dusun Lanjak Deras.
