This study investigated the influence of social media on the sexual behaviour of youth in Kwara State. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. A total of 395 youth participated in the study. One research question was raised while three null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The instrument used for data collection for this study was a researcher-designed questionnaire entitled “Influence of Social Media Questionnaire” (ISMQ). The findings revealed that social media has considerable influence on the sexual behaviour of youth in Kwara State. Social media leads students to the act of sending erotic messages, watching pornographic films and movies, and also increases risky sexual behaviour such as masturbation. There were no significant differences in the influence of social media on sexual behaviour of youth in Kwara State based on gender, age and university attended. It was therefore recommended that counsellors should expose students to the danger inherent in negative uses of social media and analyze the possible result of proper usage of social media. Counsellors should also provide information specifically on the safe and respectful use of technology, as well as consequences of the negative use of social media to students of different genders, ages and universities attended.

This chapter offers a framework for prosecuting research in distance education. The proposed framework is based on widely acknowledged practices in research design and topics of interest in distance education. The two critical components of this framework are key topics or areas of investigation in distance education (which is not an exhaustive list), and methods of research. A key contribution of this framework is that it has the potential to ensure that the most appropriate research method is selected for the topic or question that is to be investigated. The framework itself does not provide directions on how a piece of research ought to be carried out. Instead, it serves as a planning tool for matching research method with the research question or topic. This discussion is an extended version of an earlier discussion on the topic that was published in EduComm Asia (Volume 8, Number 4, June 2003, pages, 16-19), which is non-refereed quarterly newsletter of the Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia: New Delhi, India.

If a child is observed who has developmental delays, parents can act immediately. Conversely, parents can also prepare children by providing stimulation in accordance with the child's abilities at a certain age. Knowledge and awareness of parents is very necessary to monitor and stimulate children's development. The research objective was to determine the knowledge of mothers about gross motor development in children aged 3-4 years. This research design uses descriptive research method. Data analysis used univariate analysis. The results of the study were the level of maternal knowledge about gross motor development in toddlers. Overall, the respondents had good knowledge, 2 people (5.7%), 19 people (54.3%) with sufficient knowledge, and 14 people with less knowledge (40.0%).The conclusion of the mother's knowledge about gross motor development in toddlers is in the moderate category. Suggestions for mothers are expected to increase awareness of the importance of increasing knowledge about gross motor development in toddlers.

This chapter examines the ‘art of comparing’ by showing how to relate a theoretically guided research question to a properly founded research answer by developing an adequate research design. It first considers the role of variables in comparative research before discussing the meaning of ‘cases’ and case selection. It then looks at the ‘core’ of the comparative research method: the use of the logic of comparative inquiry to analyse the relationships between variables (representing theory) and the information contained in the cases (the data). Two logics are distinguished: Method of Difference and Method of Agreement. The chapter concludes with an assessment of some problems common to the use of comparative methods.
