USAGE OF NEAR-MISS-INCIDENTS TO ASSESS HAZARDS AT THE WORKPLACE OF WORKERS WITH DISABILITIES

The aim of the work is to study the possibility of usage the near-miss incidents as the indicators reflecting the level of potential hazard at the workplaces of workers, in particular with stable functional changes in the state of health. This approach is of great preventive value, since it allows obtaining the information about the level of hazard even before it is realized in the form of a certain undesirable event, such as an accident or a casualty. Research methods. The information about near-miss incidents and the potential consequences of hazard realization was obtained using a questionnaire of employees with subsequent statistical processing of the results. Results. Based on the results of studies of near-miss incidents at the workplaces of various groups of workers, it was determined that disability and the severity of disabilities affect the frequency and potential severity of these incidents. In comparison with the control group of workers who did not have stable functional changes in their health, in the process of performing production tasks by workers with II disability group, near-miss incidents occurred 36% more often, and with workers of III group – by 22%. Increase of the potential severity of incidents depending on the group of disability is determined. The scientific novelty lies in the development of ways to use near-miss incidents as indicators of the level of hazard at the workplace of workers with disabilities. The practical significance lies in obtaining information about the frequency and possible severity of near-miss incidents at the workplaces of workers using the example of a metalworking workshop at the enterprise in Kharkiv. The introduction of the procedure to collect information about near-miss incidents with subsequent data processing allows forming data for making managerial decisions to improve the OSH management system at the enterprise and develop effective measures to prevent industrial injuries.

Aim: The study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation in patients with involutional-dystrophic skin changes. materials and methods: The study was performed in the clinical department of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology, Odesa Regional Clinical Medical Center, and the Kherson Regional Clinical Hospital in 2016-2020. 287 women of middle age (average age 46.47±1.97 years) with signs of functional changes in the skin were involved in the study. They were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in the control group (n = 187) received routine cosmetic treatment. Patients of the main group (n = 100) were injected intradermally and subcutaneously with platelet-enriched plasma. Assessment of the effectiveness of the rehabilitation was performed before the first procedure and in 3 and 6 months after its completion. Statistical processing was performed using software Statistica 13.0 (TIBCO, USA). Results: After 3 months of follow-up after PRP-therapy demonstrated an increase in the thickness of the epidermis by 16.7%, the level of hydration increased by 26.9%, the level of TEV by 29.5%, an increase in the elastic properties of the skin by 31.8%, and an increase in the microcirculatory network by 23.1% compared to baseline before the procedure of PRP therapy (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: The proposed method can be used as a stand-alone complex conservative therapeutic method of treatment. The combination of activation massage and regenerative stimulation by the introduction of PRP should be carried out simultaneously during treatment throughout the course.

Background. A decrease in bone mineral density (BMD), which occurs in osteomalacia (OM) and osteoporosis (OP), is accompanied by a decrease in the strength properties of bone structures and an increase in the risk of fractures. Despite the same clinical outcome (fractures), the morphostructural, etiological, and pathogenetic characteristics of OP and OM differ qualitatively. The purpose of our work was to study the diagnostic criteria for osteomalacia and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Materials and methods. We examined 157 postmenopausal (PM) women aged 57.5 ± 1.2 years, of which 103 women were diagnosed with OP (group I) and 24 were morphometrically diagnosed with osteomalacia (group II), control group (III) included 30 apparently healthy women. X-ray densitometry was performed (osteodensitometer Hologic Discovery (USA)). The blood serum level of 25(OH)D was determined by the enzyme immunoassay on a EUROIMMUN analyzer (Germany). Bone resorption marker C-terminal telopeptide of collagen type 1 (CTx), osteocalcin (OC), and parathyroid hormone (PTH) were assessed by the immunochemiluminescent assay, phosphorus level — by spectrophotometric method using a Cobas 6000 analyzer (Roche Diagnostics, Switzerland). The level of osteoprotegerin (OPG) was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay on an Axsym analyzer (Abbot, Germany). Statistical processing was performed using Microsoft Office Excel and Statistica 10.0 software. Student’s t-test was used for mathematical processing. When assessing the strength of the correlation coefficients, the Chaddock scale was used. Results. The analysis of the data obtained showed a decrease in BMD (p <0.05) in groups I and II. However, BMD neck, T-test neck, Z-test neck in the group of women with OM were significantly reduced (p < 0.05) in comparison with the group with OP. The levels of 25(OH)D, OC, OPG were also reduced (p < 0.05) in the second group of women compared with the first group. We obtained higher (p < 0.05) indices of PTH and CTx in the group of patients with OM in comparison with the group with OP. The correlation analysis of the obtained results showed a relationship between the level of 25(OH)D and indicators of structural and functional changes in BMD: 25(OH)D and CTx (r = –0.669; p = 0.001), 25(OH)D and BMD neck (r = 0.736; p = 0.002). There was also a direct relationship between BMD neck and CTx (r = –0.463; p = 0.002). Conclusions. The PM women with OM, in comparison with the PM women with OP, developed significantly larger (p < 0.05) changes in the structural and functional state of bone tissue, biochemical markers of bone tissue resorption and remodeling, as well as lower (p < 0.05) level of 25(OH)D. The 25(OH)D level is highly informative in terms of predicting and diagnosing a decrease in BMD and the risk of fractures. The biochemical marker of CTx resorption has a high informative value in terms of predicting, timely diagnosis, and the effectiveness of the treatment.

Turkish dermatologist, H. Beheet described the disease as recurrent triad of iritis, oral aphthous lesions and genital ulceration. Auto immune disease is the recent focus on the unknown etiology which is still being discussed. Among the other immunosupressive drugs, CyA included in it's treatment newly. One of the important side effects of this drug is gingival hyperplasia which has a direct relation with the presence of teeth and periodontal tissue. We are interested in the ultrastructure of immunocompetent target cells that were affected by CyA in BD.Three groups arranged in each having 5 patients with BD. Control group was the first and didn’t have CyA treatment. Patients who had CyA, but didn’t show gingival hyperplasia assembled the second group. The ones displaying gingival hyperplasia following CyA therapy formed the third group. GMC of control group and their granules are shown in FIG. 1,2,3. GMC of the second group presented initiation of supplementary cellular activity and possible maturing functional changes with the signs of increased number of mitochondria and accumulation of numerous dense cored granules next to few normal ones, FIG. 4,5,6.

Aim. To evaluate the structural and functional changes in the lungs of ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with absence or presence of chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), and the relation with myocardial dysfunction and systemic inflammation.Material and methods. Totally, 189 STEMI patients included: group 1 — STEMI with COPD of moderate and mild grade, 2 — STEMI with no lung pathology. Groups were comparable by clinical and anamnestic parameters. Assessment of lung function and blood collection were done at 10­12 day of STEMI. For comparison of the parameters representing structural and functional changes in the lungs and comparison of C­reactive protein (CRP), N­terminal pro­brain natriuretic peptide (NT­proBNP) concentration, a control group was formed with no pulmonary pathology, comparable by age and sex with the STEMI patients.Results. In COPD patients, higher values revealed of the parameters representing the part of residual volumes in pulmonary structure. Higher residual volume (RV) was found also in STEMI and no COPD comparing to controls, however the relation RV/TLC (total lung capacity) was not higher than normal range. In both groups there were lower values of diffusion lung capacity (DLCO) comparing to controls. The lowest DLCO found in COPD patients. Concentration of NT­proBNP (H=41,6; p<0,001) and CRP (H=38,6; p<0,001) in COPD was significantly higher in STEMI with no COPD patients than in controls. The negative correlations found for NT­proBNP and CRP with forced expiratory volume 1 sec, FEV/FVC1, DLCO, and positive — with the values of thoracic volume, RV/TLC.Conclusion. In STEMI patients the increase revealed of residual lung volumes. Mostly the level of residual volumes is high in STEMI and COPD patients. There are associations of NT­proBNP and CRP with structural and functional parameters of the lungs regardless of COPD.

The modern state of social-economic processes development demands increasing the level of food safety of the state, especially providing population by the high quality foods of domestic production, specifically by pork. One of criteria for estimating pigs' meatness is determining the fat thickness in different points of a trunk. The informative content of measuring in different parts of a trunk is different and it needs detailed study. The fat thickness is the most common as trait for pigs' meatness in the practice of pig breeding because it has high correlation with meat yield in carcasses. The aim of our research was the comparative study of fat deposition regularities in different parts of a trunk of Large White and Mirgorod pigs in different age periods. For conducting researches 24 pigs of both breeds with average live weight about 40 kg and at age not more 4 months were selected. The fat thickness was measured at live animals using ultrasonic device Draminski in such points: on withers, the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra and sacrum. Measuring the fat thickness was carried out at the age of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 months. During researches it was carried out the statistical processing of obtained material. Reliability of obtained indexes of productivity was determined. Regularities of formatting fat thickness and fat deposition rate depending on the age were studied. For the results of researches it has been studied and compared economically valuable traits of the most spread domestic pigs of Large White and Mirgorod breeds. By comparative study of growth and development of young pigs of experimental and control groups it has been found that animals of Large White breed differed by lesser fat deposits in all points of measuring. Thus, at 6-months’ age they had lesser thickness of fat in all parts of a trunk. More expressed tendency was at withers and the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, at that in the first case the difference between groups was reliable (p < 0.01). The fat deposition rate in young pigs of both breeds was not the same in different points of measuring along a trunk. Above mentioned tendencies were intensified with the age. Purebred animals of intrabreed type LW-1 at 7-months’ age had reliable less thickness of fat in comparison with the control group: on withers (p < 0.01), at the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra (p < 0.05) and on sacrum (p < 0.01). In future, according to economic and scientific expediency, the animals of Mirgorod breed were excluded from the experiment. Concerning Large White breed, the researches were finished when animals were at 8 months’ age. The process of fat deposition in Large White pigs was less intensive in comparison to Mirgorod breed. The highest relative rate of fat thickness increase in both breeds was observed at the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra. By statistical processing of the obtained materials it has been found that the difference of average arithmetical indexes (as absolute and relative) between the experimental and control groups during growth and development had distinct tendency to increasing in all points of measuring. The reliability of the difference between the averages in groups with the age of animals increased. A higher reliability of data was obtained at measuring of the front parts of a trunk of pigs at the level of the 6th-7th thoracic vertebra and on withers. The carried out researches at all points of measuring give the reason to confirm that the fat deposits of Large White pigs are less comparing to Mirgorod breed. Conclusions. 1. Carcasses of animals of intrabreed type ULW-1 are comparatively more technologically suitable and economically beneficial for agricultural proceeding industry. 2. Animals of intrabreed type ULW-1 at 7-months’ age had reliable less thickness of fat in comparison with the control group: on withers, at the level of the 6-7th thoracic vertebra, the level of the 1st-2nd loins vertebra and on sacrum. 3. The process of fat deposition in Large White pigs was less intensive in comparison to Mirgorod breed.

Introduction. The most susceptible to lead is the hematopoietic system of hematopoietic organs due to lead inhibition of heme and globin synthesis and cytotoxic effect on the membrane of Mature red blood cells. The aim of study was to evaluate the informative value of the study of erythrocyte and reticulocyte parameters determined on modern hematological analyzers in patients working in contact with lead during medical and biological monitoring. Materials and methods. 45 employees of the lead battery processing plant and 30 persons of control group were examined. The level of lead in the blood was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry, δ-ALA in the urine-by the reaction of pyrol formation with acetylacetone in terms of gram of creatinine, the study of hematological parameters was performed on a Sysmex HT-2000i analyzer. Statistical processing of the results was performed using the program STATISTICA 10.0. Results. Significant changes in erythrocytic (RDW) and reticulocytic (RET, IRF, LFR, MFR, HFR, RET-He) parameters, erythropoietin in workers in contact with lead compared to the control group, changes in MCV, MCH, RDW, RET indicators in the group working in dynamics after 2 years were revealed. Associations of hematological parameters with biomarkers of exposure and effect (lead level in blood and ALA in urine) were revealed. Conclusions. Assessment of erythrocyte (MCV, MCH, RDW) and reticulocyte parameters (RET% and their distribution by maturity) in dynamics during periodic medical examinations of workers in contact with lead allows us to detect the development of hematological disorders at early stages.

Currently, Russian skaters are delivering incredible performances worldwide. In this regard, diverse social groups show increasing interest in this sport. Thus, professionals pay much attention to the coaching for win-win outcomes. It is especially important for single female skaters at the competitions where few hundredths of a point determine results of several participants from Russia, and at the same time dozens of points separate them and skaters from other countries on the podium. The aim of the research is to test the techniques of teaching multi-rotation jumps to female skaters aged 10-11. These techniques are part of training methodology, and they consider harmony, interconnection and versatility of sport training in general. These techniques include special exercises with the use of “Rotator” simulator. Materials and methods of the research. In our research, we used the review and analysis of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observations, pedagogical testing; pedagogical experiment, mathematical and statistical processing of the results. The experiment covered two groups of female athletes born in 2007-2008, with 8 people in each group. All the participants came from the «Zvezda» Center of Physical Culture and Sports of the North-Western administrative district of Moscow. Research results and discussion. Participants of the experimental group were performing the developed sets of exercises on general physical training, special physical training (including “Rotator” vestibular simulator) and training on skating rink during six months. The research revealed a significant increase in the technical and physical fitness of the participants of this subgroup. Conclusion. The developed set of “Rotator” simulator exercises, as well as complexes of auxiliary and special training exercises with increasing coordination complexity are effective in teaching multi-rotation jumps to female skaters aged 10-11 compared with the standard exercises performed in the control group.

Summary Background: It has been reported that obesity is associated with metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, cardiovascular risk but also with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The prevalence of obesity in children and adolescents is increasing rapidly all over the world. The aim of this study was to analyze the value of liver enzymes: AST, ALT and γGT in a group of obese students in order to establish their correlation to anthropometric parameters such as: BMI (body mass index), WC (waist circumference), HC (hip circumference), and WHR (waist-to-hip ratio) compared to non-obese students who comprised the control group (CG). Methods: In this study, 238 students from the University of Novi Sad of both sexes (126 men and 112 women) with a mean age of 22.32 ± 1.85 years were included. According to the body mass index (BMI) lower and higher than 25 kg/m2 and waist circumference (WC) lower and higher than 94 cm (80 cm for females) the whole group of 238 students was divided into 2 subgroups: the obese group at increased risk for CVD (Group 1) and the group at lower risk for CVD (Group 2). AST, ALT and γGT activities were determined in fasting blood samples. Results: Statistical processing data revealed significantly higher values of AST, ALT and γGT in the group of students with BMI>25 kg/m2, WC>94 cm for males and WC>80 cm for females, HC>108 cm for males and HC>111 cm for females, and WHR>0.90 for males and WHR>0.80 for females (P<0.001). Significant association was established between anthropometric parameters and liver enzyme levels (P<0.0001). Conclusions: Obese students with higher BMI, WC, HC and WHR values have higher liver enzyme activites and a higher chance to develop NAFLD in the future.

AbstractStatins lower the risk of cardiovascular events but have been associated with mitochondrial functional changes in a tissue-dependent manner. We investigated tissue-specific modifications of mitochondrial function in liver, heart and skeletal muscle mediated by chronic statin therapy in a Göttingen Minipig model. We hypothesized that statins enhance the mitochondrial function in heart but impair skeletal muscle and liver mitochondria. Mitochondrial respiratory capacities, citrate synthase activity, coenzyme Q10 concentrations and protein carbonyl content (PCC) were analyzed in samples of liver, heart and skeletal muscle from three groups of Göttingen Minipigs: a lean control group (CON, n = 6), an obese group (HFD, n = 7) and an obese group treated with atorvastatin for 28 weeks (HFD + ATO, n = 7). Atorvastatin concentrations were analyzed in each of the three tissues and in plasma from the Göttingen Minipigs. In treated minipigs, atorvastatin was detected in the liver and in plasma. A significant reduction in complex I + II-supported mitochondrial respiratory capacity was seen in liver of HFD + ATO compared to HFD (P = 0.022). Opposite directed but insignificant modifications of mitochondrial respiratory capacity were seen in heart versus skeletal muscle in HFD + ATO compared to the HFD group. In heart muscle, the HFD + ATO had significantly higher PCC compared to the HFD group (P = 0.0323). In the HFD group relative to CON, liver mitochondrial respiration decreased whereas in skeletal muscle, respiration increased but these changes were insignificant when normalizing for mitochondrial content. Oral atorvastatin treatment in Göttingen Minipigs is associated with a reduced mitochondrial respiratory capacity in the liver that may be linked to increased content of atorvastatin in this organ.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship of values with individual economic behaviour, identifies the correlation between personality values that are conditioned upon the culture, and evaluations of economic behaviour situations on the example of Russian culture. Design/methodology/approach This study involved 222 people of Russian nationality, young entrepreneurs employed in the commercial field, developing their own business. The following methods were used in the study: the methodology for measuring the values of an individual and cultural level; Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire, a scenario methodology for economic behaviour, which is a short behavioural scenario (model of behaviour), taken from real life. The statistical processing of experimental data was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics Version 21 software package. Findings The values with correlated progressive and regressive economic forms of behaviour were identified for modern Russian society. The correlation of factors with progressive and regressive economic behaviour was also identified. Practical implications The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying the results obtained not only in the system of economic education but also in programs to support the business activity of young entrepreneurs. Originality/value The value of this study is determined by the fact that it can be placed in a broader context of research into the relationship between the levels of human consciousness and his behaviour.
