Student dormitories are the residential neighborhood as student residences during their lectures. The dorms are increasing as students access different regions to study at a university. Medan city has several dorms which one is of Medan State University. This student dormitory is a special dormitory for male students of Medan State University who come from areas in North Sumatra. The condition of the dormitories is considered inadequate as a Student dormitories capacity is less than required. The existing student dormitory facilities are not complete for student dormitory facilities. It is necessary to design the male student dormitory of Medan State University. In this design, the Medan State University male student dormitory requires additional supporting facilities around the student dormitory and good building conditions. The location of the building is in the educational Area on Jalan William Iskandar Pasar V, New Memories, Percut Sei Tuan. The Male Student Dormitories applies green architecture with a basic concept approach to land use which is considered to respect every criterion contained in the land, made as comfortable as possible, responsive to the factors evaluated at the construction site.

The present study investigates the effect of the explicit teaching of prosodic features on developing word recognition skills with interpreter trainees. Two groups of student interpreters were composed. All were native speakers of Farsi who studied English translation and interpreting at the BA level at the State University of Arak, Iran. Participants were categorized into two groups at random, but with equal division between genders (9 female and 9 male students in each group). No significant differences in English language skills (TOEFL scores) could be established between the groups. Participants took a pretest of word recognition skill before starting the program. The control group received exercises in listening comprehension, while the experimental group spent part of the time on theoretical explanation and practical exercises developing conscious knowledge of prosodic features of English, such as word stress. The total instruction time was the same for both groups, i.e. 8 hours. Students then took a posttest of word recognition skills. The results show that prosodic feature awareness training did yield a statistically significant improvement of word recognition skills. The result has pedagogical implications for researchers in the field of second language teaching, instructors, curriculum designers, conductors of interpreting programs for training future interpreters, material producers and all who are involved in language study and pedagogy.

Metabolic impairments could be seen at any point in human development. Although emphasis has been placed on older adults but it could be encountered in any age brackets. The aim of this study was to compare prevalence rates using different definitions of Metabolic syndrome (MetS) among students of Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology (FHST) in Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki.  This was a cross-sectional study involving 80 students (28 male students and 52 female students) recruited from among students of FHST in EBSU, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. MetS was defined in three different ways [by International Diabetes Federation (IDF), National Cholesterol Education Program—Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP-ATPIII), or World Health Organization (WHO) criteria]. Prevalence was found to be 6.3%, 2.5% and 7.5% using NCEP-ATP III, WHO, and IDF definitions respectively.  The most common MetS components among female students using the NCEP-ATP III criteria were high blood pressure (5.8%) and abdominal obesity (5.8%), whilst low HDL-C concentrations, high blood pressure and abdominal obesity were most common among male students (7.1 % for each component mentioned). According to WHO, abdominal obesity (7.1%) and hyperglycaemia (7.1%) were the most common MetS components among male students. The most common MetS components among participants using the IDF criteria were abdominal obesity and high blood pressure. While some participants did not meet the MetS criteria of the NCEP-ATP III, WHO and IDF criteria (50%), many had one (30%) or two (13.8%) components and may be at risk of developing the syndrome in the future. The mean values of the risk factors  used as criteria for the diagnosis of MetS were relatively normal in the study population thereby masking the presence of MetS, thus showing that the prevalence of MetS may gradually increase undetected unless individual members of the study population are subjected to laboratory investigation using different criteria for diagnosis of MetS. Therefore, traditional risk factors might be late markers for diagnosis of MetS since findings from this study showed that MetS was only detected in participants that already had it.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of gender in the use of social media for listening learning in students of SMK Dharma Analitika. This was field research. This research used a descriptive method because the researchers wanted to describe the condition of students in gender-based learning that takes place at SMK Dharma Analitika as a whole, broadly, and deeply, in classroom learning activities, the use of social media, student learning behavior, and the methods and media used in learning. There was an effect of gender on the listening study of the students in SMK Dharma Analitika, shown by the significant difference in assignment results between the male and female students. Female students used social media more often than male students so female students were more confident in completing their assignments. The research found an improvement in gender-based character: male students were willing to give the role of female students to show themselves and their greatness, because they thought that female students would be better if they were given the confidence to do the task in front of the screen, whereas a male student prefers to complete the task behind-the scenes in doing video assignments for listening subjects. By controlling for size and existence of a religious affiliation and gender, this study adds to the literature regarding opinions of undergraduate business students about the ethical nature of both academic and business related actions. Analysis of student survey data from two institutions similar in these characteristics continues in this longitudinal study. After the data were separated by gender, ethical perceptions of male students significantly differed for business-related dishonest acts for those male students who had taken two or more courses in religion, but church service attendance did not seem to have any effect. This may suggest that taking more courses (or having more dialogs) in which moral issues beyond academics are discussed may affect male student perceptions of ethical issues outside the institution.
