The aim of this journal is to research the social values on the Novel “Aku Harus Jadi Malaikat” was witten by Zakiah D Aziz’s as teaching material in Senior High School. The methodology research is a qualitative research, but the preparation process is assisted by quantitative research. In qualitative research of instrument is the researcher himself and the method used is descriptive qualitative method, this method is used to analyze, describe and describe the elements that become the center of research. The result is this study can be implemented as teaching materials in novel texts. As well as introducing an author's perspective in writing his work. By paying attention to structures such as themes, characters / characterizations, paths, settings and mandates, so that they can be more easily understood by students.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to describe the social values ​​contained in Novel Sunset with Tere Liye's Rosie. This research is a qualitative research. The steps carried out in this study are to describe the data objectively according to the data that has been found. This research has resulted in findings in the form of social values ​​(1) affection (Love) which include devotion, helping, kinship, loyalty, concern then (2) the value of responsibility (Responsibility) which includes responsibility to family, responsibility to society, and responsibility to God, it can be concluded that the novel Sunset Bersama Rosie by Tere Liye has life values ​​that can be applied in social life. This research was based on the view that literature is basically a reflection of society. So in this study, researchers used the approach to the sociology of literature. This paper aimed to describe (1) short story becomes one of the literary works that are used as teaching material in schools, (2) the aspect of characrter education based on the collection of short stories entitled Mata Yang Enak Dipandang by Ahmad Tohari, and (3) social problems collection of short stories entitled Mata Yang Enak Dipandang. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive explaining the data that has been found in research. The main data sources in this study the quotations contained in the novel and the results of interviews with literary experts and learning experts. The results of this study is the main characters in this short story are varied and its can be utilized in the study of literary appreciation for Class XI in Senior high school semester with the standard literary discourse understanding competence through reading poetry and short stories in the aspects of reading and basic competence that is analyzing the intrinsic elements of a short story linkages with everyday life

This research focused on the types of social values reflected in Ananta Toer’s novel entitled Bumi Manusia. This novel successfully describes not only the cultural revolution in a colonized country but also an objection against the absolute supremacy of cultural and social values. The research was aimed at revealing the kinds of social values in the novel. The data were in the forms of sentences, paragraphs and dialogues referring to social values such as positive and negative social values. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method with content analysis technique that is by analyzing the letters, words, sentences and verses that can explain some social values in this novel. Based on the research finding and discussion, as well as the theory of social values proposed by Notonegoro (2014), the social values are divided into Value of truth, Aesthetic value, Moral value and Religious value. The results show that there are four types of social value in the novel, i.e. Value of truth (Justice), Aesthetic value (love), Moral value (encouraging kinship and politeness) and Religious value (patience and faith).

<p><em>This study aims to describe and explain (1) the intrinsic element of novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (2) the emotional condition of the character depicted in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi according to Sigmund Freud’s theory, (3) the values of character education contained in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (4) the relevancy of novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi as a teaching material for literary appreciation class in Senior High School level.</em> <em>This study used a descriptive qualitative method with literary psychology approach. Data collection was carried out with document analysis techniques and indept interviews. The validity data test has been done using triangulation theory technique and data triangulation. The analysis of data was conducted using flow analysis i.e, the data reduction, data presentation, and conclutions determination.</em> <em>The results of the study are (1) the intrinsic elements that build the novel Rantau 1 Muara are theme, characterizations, plot, settings, and author’s point of view; (2) the emotional  conditions experienced by characters in the novel Rantau 1 Muara are influenced by three elements i.e, id, ego, and superego; (3) the value of character education that contained in the novel Rantau 1 Muara there are 13 values including religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hardwork, independent, curiosity, spirit of nationality, love the country, friendly/ communicate, like reading, concern to social issue, and responsibly; (4) novel Rantau 1 Muara can be used as an alternative teaching material of literary appreciation class in Senior High School level.</em></p>

Tujuan umum penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan hasil resepsi pembaca terhadap novel Supernova. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori estetika resepsi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian studi kasus. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode terbuka dan retrospektif. Data bersumber dari novel Supernova. Data utama berasal dari dokumen tertulis para kritikus sastra dan pembaca umum yang dimuat di internet. Temuan penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, variabel pembaca berjumlah 79 orang dengan strata pendidikan paling banyak SMA dan S1. Jenis pekerjaan lebih banyak bekerja di bidang keterampilan daripada bidang keilmuan. Novel Supernova lebih diterima oleh pembaca yang berpendidikan SMA dan S1 dengan pekerjaan di bidang keterampilan. Kedua, unsur tekstual yang khas yang paling menentukan resepsi pembaca terutama pola pengaruh sains yang dianggap memberikan angin segar bagi khazanah kesusatraan Indonesia. Unsur tekstual lainnya kurang mendapatkan resepsi yang baik, misalnya unsur tokoh yang tidak digarap secara mendalam, alur yang meloncat-loncat, serta bahasa yang rumit dan sulit dipahami. Abstract: The general aim of this study is to describe reader reception to the novel Supernova. Research method used in this study is qualitative method because this method is appropriate with the characteristics of this research which produces written data from its study subject. The method used is of open and retrospective type. The data are from the novel Supernova with the main data taken from written documents from literary critics and general readers that have been published in the internet. The findings of this research indicate, firstly, that the readers are varying; they consists of 79 readers with the majority educational background of senior high school and college. In terms of profession, more come from vocational field than from academic field. The novel Supernova are more highly received by the readers with senior high school and college background with the work in vocational field. Secondly, it is found that the textual aspect of the novel pertaining to the scientific topic is the part that gets most of the receptions from the readers. This has some impact on the reception of the other elements of the novel like characters which is said to be not so much refined, the plot to leap up and down, and the language to be delicate and difficult to understand. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap tradisi nujuh bulanan. Masyarakat sudah tidak terlalu mementingkan tradisi nujuh bulanan, padahal tradisi ini merupakan warisan dari nenek moyang kita yang dapat menjadi ciri khas orang Sunda. Penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) tatacara pelaksanaan tradisi nujuh bulanan, 2) folklor apa saja yang terdapat dalam tradisi nujuh bulanan, 3) hasil penelitian untuk bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel budaya di SMA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menggunakan tehnik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi.Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kamera dan pedoman wawancara. Hasilnya adalah: pertama, bahwa dalam pelaksanaan tradisi nujuh bulanan terdapat tiga hal yang biasa dilakukan, diantaranya pengajian, membuat rujak dan memandikan yang sedang mengandung. Kedua, dalam tradisi nujuh bulanan terdapat folklor lisan, folklor setengah lisan dan folklor non lisan. Ketiga, hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel budaya di SMA kelas XII.Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah agar masyarakat lebih mengenal tradisi-tradisi leluhur kita kemudian dapat menjaga dan melestarikannya.Saran ditujukan kepada peneliti selanjutnya agar lebih mencari dan menggali lebih dalam tentang mengenai tradisi masyarakat Sunda.AbstractThis study is based on the lack of people knowledge about tingkeban tradition. People have not been prioritizing tingkeban tradition lately, meanwhile this tradition is a heritage from the descent which can be defined as a thew for Sundanese. The aims of this study are to describe: 1) procedure of tingkeban tradition, 2) folklore on tingkeban tradition, 3) the finding of this study as teaching material for reading culture article at senior high school. This study uses desctiptive qualitative method by using technic observation, interview and documentation. Instrument that is used in this study is a camera and a handbook of interview. The finding shows that: first, in the implementation of tingkeban tradition there are three steps that should be done, those are reading holly Qur’an, making traditional fruits and vegetables salad dish (rujak) and bathing pregnancy woman. Second, there are three kinds of folklore in tingkeban tradition, those are oral folklore, half-oral folklore, and verbal folklore. Third, the finding of this study can be used as teaching material for reading culture article on 12th grade of senior high school. The result of this study is expected to people especially Sundanese in order to know more about their traditions so that it can be maintained and preserved. A recommendation is aimed for the next researcher to analyze and to have deeper exploration about Sundanese tradition.

This study discusses moral values in Habiburrahman El Shirazy’s novel: Bidadari Bermata Bening. The aim of this research is to describe the principle of good attitude, the principle of justice, the principle of respecting oneself in the Bidadari Bermata Bening using a pragmatic approach, and its relation to literary teaching materials. Data collection methods used are observation, reading techniques, and literature review. The results of this study are as follows. (1) Moral values based on the principle of good attitude in the novel are the values of being responsible, happy to help, and loyal in everyday life. (2) Moral value based on the principle of fairness in this novel is awareness to give the rights of others. (3) Moral valuess based on the principle of respecting oneself are the value of protecting themselves and maintaining their honor. (4) This novel has fulfilled the criteria of teaching material so that it can be used by teachers as an alternative in literary teaching materials in class XII senior high school. Keywords: moral values, novel, teaching material

Hati Suhita which is set in Java contains some philosophical and figurative languages. This research  aims to describe some figurative languages of Khilma Anis’s Hati Suhita and its relevance as a teaching material in high school. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The research data are in the form of words or sentences. The source of the data is the novel Hati Suhita and high school syllabus. The data collection techniques are read and note-taking techniques. The data analysis is then applied to the lists of figurative style passage dialogue using content analysis. The results showed that in the novel there were 32 styles of figurative languages. There are 6 data in the form of simile, 1 metaphorical, 12 personifications, 6 allusions, 6 eponymous data, and 1 data in the form of irony. Style that dominates the invention was the personification. Overall, the distinctive figurative language styles used in various forms of parables and comparisons in the novel are Javanese puppet characters and proverbs. This is unique in the discovery of language styles in this study. The results of the analysis of the language style in this novel have relevances as teaching materials with three KD, among them found in KD 3.9.4.9, 3.4.4.4, 3.9.4.9 of XI and XII degrees.AbstrakDalam novel Hati Suhita ditemukan gaya bahasa kiasan yang sarat akan budaya dan filosofi Jawa yang terkandung di dalamnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa kiasan yang terdapat dalam novel Hati Suhita karya Khilma Anis dan relevansinya sebagai bahan ajar di SMA. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Data berupa kata atau kalimat yang menunjukkan gaya bahasa kiasan. Sumber data berupa novel Hati Suhita dan silabus bahasa Indonesia pada jenjang SMA. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan catat, pencatatan dilakukan untuk menuliskan petikan dialog yang mengandung gaya bahasa kiasan. Teknik analisis menggunakan analisis isi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dalam novel tersebut terdapat 32 gaya bahasa kiasaan, yaitu 6 data gaya bahasa simile atau persamaan, 1 data metafora, 12 data personifikasi, 6 data alusi, 6 data eponimi, dan 1 data ironi. Gaya bahasa kiasan yang mendominasi adalah personifikasi. Kekhasan gaya bahasa kiasan yang digunakan dalam berbagai bentuk perumpamaan dan perbandingan pada novel tersebut adalah tokoh-tokoh pewayangan dan peribahasa Jawa. Hal tersebut merupakan keunikan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil analisis gaya bahasa dalam novel ini memiliki relevansi sebagai bahan ajar dengan tiga KD, di antaranya terdapat pada KD 3.9.4.9, 3.4.4.4, 3.9.4.9. yang terdapat pada kelas XI dan XII.

This study aimed at analyzing the cognitive dimension based on Revised BloomTaxonomy in reading questions in Look Ahead an English Course for Senior HighSchool Level 1, 2, & 3. This study used quantitative research design. The sampleswere 141 reading questions which taken by using random sampling technique byusing Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0. in Look Aheadan English Course for Senior High School Level 1, 2, & 3. The data were analyzedby using Table analysis of cognitive dimension of Revised Bloom Taxonomy. Theanalysis showed that the most dominant cognitive dimension of Revised BloomTaxonomy in remembering dimension (57.45%). The second dominant cognitivedimension is understanding dimension (26.24%). The third dominant cognitivedimension is evaluating dimension (10.64%). The fourth dominant cognitivedimension is creating dimension (3.55%). The fifth dominant cognitive dimension isanalyzing dimension (2.13%). There was no cognitive dimension of applyingdimension that applied in reading question of the textbooks.

Reading is one of the important aspects of language learning. By reading, the learners get knowledge and information. But in reality, students are often ignoring to mastering this skill. It is the researchers found in the second grade of SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Kartikatama Metro Lampung Indonesia, where students have difficulty in reading comprehension, so this leads to lower their learning. Therefore, to improve students' reading comprehension ability, researchers used Written Retelling Strategy (WRS) in the learning process.        The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of Retelling Written Strategy (WRS) has a positive effect on students' reading comprehension in learning English. Written Retelling Strategy (WRS) considered as one strategy that makes students more active and fun in the learning process to comprehend some text.        Forms of this research are Quantitative Research conducted in two classes. Each class is divided into the trial and reserve grade. Author implements True Experimental Design (Pure Research) by applying a pre-test and post-test as an instrument. In accordance with the method of this study, the data were analyzed using t-test that allows knowing the difference between the experimental group that used a class of written retelling strategy and the control group who did not use written retelling strategy. Finally, the research data show that t observations = 3,590 and is included in the category of high impact. Furthermore, t observation T Table consult with a significance level of 5% = 2.010 and 1% = 2,682, the data states that t observations greater than the T Table, this could mean that Hi is received. And could mean that there is a positive and significant influence between experiment class and class control on the use of written retelling strategy at second grade of Senior High School  Kartikatama Metro.
