Exploring Education Character Thought of Ki Hajar Dewantara and Thomas Lickona

This article aimed to describe the idea of Ki Hajar Deantara and Thomas Lichona about the moral problems of today's society. Where the children’ experience moral degradation which seems increasingly out of control. This article used library research. Documentation and observation was used in collecting data. The research reveals that Ki Hajar Dewantara’s concept of education is to realize the achievement of educational goals through the Education Tripusat. According to Thomas Lickona, there are three kinds of moral knowledge that can be used when dealing with moral challenges, including moral awareness, knowing moral values, and determining perspective. Ki Hajar Dewantara argues that in order to carry out character education, understanding must be embedded, feeling something that is learned and then implementing it in real behavior. While, Thomas Lickona stated that the emotional side of character is the same as the intellectual side, open to the development of schools and families. Abstract: The moral value in the translation of Ajonga Yinda Malusa lyric by Sheikh Haji Abdul Ganiu is the cultural heritage of the Indonesian people that can be used as a reference in character education that is being echoed by the government at this time. The purpose of this research is to describe moral values in the translation of Ajonga Yinda Malusa lyric by Sheikh Haji Abdul Ganiu. This study used content analysis method with a hermeneutic Paul Ricouer approach about text analysis and text reconstruction. The data of this study was the translation of Ajonga Yinda Malusa lyric by Syekh Haji Abdul Ganiu. The data analysis appropriate with the components of good moral values was moral knowledge, moral feeling, and moral action. The results showed that the translation of Ajonga Yinda malusa lyric, there was moral knowledge in the aspect of moral awareness, knowledge of moral values, determination of perspective, moral thinking, decision making, and personal knowledge. Moral feeling led to the aspect of conscience, self-esteem, empathy, love a good thing, poise, and humility. Moral action led to aspect of competence, desire, and habits. These three components were an aspect that led to the birth of moral values.Abstrak: Nilai moral dalam terjemahan syair Ajonga Yinda Malusa karya Syekh Haji Abdul Ganiu merupakan warisan budaya bangsa Indonesia yang dapat dijadikan referensi dalam pendidikan karakter yang sedang digaungkan pemerintah saat ini. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendeskripsikan nilai moral dalam terjemahan syair Ajonga Yinda Malusa karya Syekh Haji Abdul Ganiu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi dengan pendekatan hermeneutika Paul Ricouer tentang analisis teks dan rekontruksi teks. Data yang digunakan sebagai objek kajian adalah terjemahan syair Ajonga Yinda Malusa karya Syekh Haji Abdul Ganiu. Data analisis sesuai dengan komponen nilai moral yang baik yakni pengetahuan moral, perasaan moral dan tindakan moral. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada terjemahan syair Ajonga Yinda Malusa terdapat pengetahuan moral pada aspek kesadaran moral, pengetahuan nilai moral, penentuan prespektif, pemikiran moral, pengambilan keputusan dan pengetahuan pribadi. Perasaan moral mengarah pada aspek hati nurani, harga diri, empati, mencintai hal yang baik, kendali diri dan kerendahan hati. Tindakan moral mengarah pada aspek kompetensi, keinginan, dan kebiasaan. Ketiga komponen itu merupakan aspek yang mendorong lahirnya nilai-nilai moral.

This study aims to analyze the character values in Sirah Nabawiyah Ar-Rahiq Al-Makhtum by Syafiyyurrahman al-Mubarakfuri, so that it is revealed how the character education of the Prophet Muhammad. and analyze its relevance to current educational goals. The research method used is library research, the type of research approach is deductive and the analysis method is content analysis. Data collection techniques used were library techniques. This research succeeded in proving that prophetic values based on the history of the Prophet Muhammad have a strong relevance to the concept of contemporary character education. Prophetic values loaded with character education in this era, especially related to religiosity, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democracy, curiosity, national spirit, love of the motherland, respect for achievement, friendship, love for peace , likes to read, care about the environment, care about social, and responsibility.

This paper examines the role of parents as a source of character education for early childhood. This study was conducted using the library research method. The results of this study indicate that the role of parents is a determining factor for children's development, both physically and mentally, is the role of both parents as the first and main educators for children who are born until they are adults. In the process of forming knowledge, various parenting styles conveyed by parents are very important. Education in the family plays a very important role in developing the character, personality, cultural values, religious and moral values , and simple skills of children. The role of parents in influencing the character of children is no longer borne by the mother only. The role of the father in shaping the character of the child is very large. Fathers are still obliged to participate in maintaining interactions with their children, such as inviting them to talk, joke, and play.

Fokus dari tulisan ini adalah penerapan pendidikan karakter yang didasarkan pada nilai-nilai Islam. This research was motivated by the spread of radicalism ideology that’s carried out by leaders of some boarding schools (Islamic school of Qur’anic studies), the degradation of society moral, and the immoral behavior in education institutions. This research aims to investigate the core ethical values of character education based on Islamic values in Islamic boarding schools to facilitate the embedding of those values in Indonesian society so that the radicalism ideology, moral degradation, and immoral behavior can be eliminated. This research uses a qualitative approach and method. The type of research is library research; data were obtained from books, journals, and other relevant references. Then the data were analyzed by using content analysis techniques. The result of this research shows that the core ethical values of character education based on Islamic values in Islamic boarding schools are divided into four core teachings of Islamic studies, namely al-fiqh (fiqh), al-tauhid (monotheism), al-tasawuf (Sufism), and al-akhlaq (moral). Values consist in those four core teachings are cleanliness, health, neatness, faith, piety, belief toward blessing (baraka), moderate, benignity, simplicity, self-attitude of accepting and feeling sufficient for the results of his efforts (qonaah), sincerity, humility, religious culture, respect for older people, and hard work. Pesantren or Islamic boarding schools are religious-based educational institutions that are popular in Indonesia. Unfortunately, pesantren education patterns have not been widely studied because the pattern of education is considered different from formal education in Indonesia. Unlike pesantren, formal education only focuses on the cognitive aspects of academics and ignores the psychomotor-affective aspects. This study aimed to examine the aspects of educational philosophy that exist in the education system at the pesantren Al Falah Gorontalo and their contribution to the development of character education for middle-high school students in Indonesia. This was a philosophical research study which used the perspective of educational philosophy. A qualitative approach was employed, using the hermeneutic method, and data were collected through library research, strengthened by in-depth interviews. Interpretation, description, synthetic analysis, internal coherence, holistic, reflection, and heuristics were used. Several pedagogical aspects were found in the learning process that prevails at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School. These are associated with the educational goals and curriculum, which involves several important streams in educational philosophy, namely essentialism, progressivism, and perennialism. The pesantren Al Falah Gorontalo also upholds several important values in the education process, including relating to religion, unity, human values, togetherness, and independence. These values can be internalized by adolescents through education and can contribute in building the character of students. In achieving the goals of national education, strengthening character education is a very important an effort to do. Character education must be instilled in humans so that it can become the main foundation for shaping the character of the nation. Given the importance of character education, teachers must work hard in introducing and developing character education for students. One form an effort to improve the character of students in schools is through the habituation of noble moral habits. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of character education in the plan to strengthen character education at TPA Ittihadil Ummah Kr Anyar through habituation of noble moral habits. The method in this research using descriptive qualitative and data collection through the stages of observation, interviews, library research. Data analysis was carried out by data analysis and concluding. The result of this studi indicate that: The character education improvement program at TPA Ittihadil Ummah Kr Anyar is carried out by combining the learning process with the habits of high moral values in everyday life. The result of this studi indicate tha the noble moral habits practiced in the school environment are an effective model for enhancing the character of students

The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the vision of education according to the Al-Qur’an and then found its relevance to modern character education theory. This study used qualitative design by using library research and specifically used in the mawdhu'i interpretation approach. The study results have shown that the integration of educational goals was seen in the use of several terms in the Al-Qur’an related to education. Dhikr was integrated with thinking, integration of understanding (cognitive) by acting what is understood (affective and psychomotor), applying syar'i law was integrated with the purpose of its application, and integration of thinking about nature by acknowledging the power of Allah. The verse signs that indicate integration in educational goals indicate that the domains of educational goals could not be separated but as a whole. The implication in the formulation of goals should not separate the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Thoughts, exercise, and sports might be integrated and synergized.

This study aims to reveal the values of character education described in the verses of the Alquran, especially in animal verses (fauna), namely: bees, crows, and lions. The research method uses the Content Analysis method, with the type of library research. The primary data source is the Tafsir Alquran, the fauna verses and the primary source is the support. The results of his research then as for the values of animal character education in the Alquran, namely: 1) bees have the value of character education a) hard work, b) willing and willing to sacrifice, c) discipline, d) obedient and obedient, e ) trustworthy and responsible, f) independent, g) not looking for position, h) respecting the leader, i) beneficial to other creatures, j) maintaining cleanliness. 2) crows, a) intelligence, b) cooperation, c) faith, d) Islamic educational values. 3) Lions, a) courage, b) affection, c) sincerity, d) patience and e) cooperation. While the relevance of character to education are: a) Understanding of character helps formulate educational goals, b) Understanding of character helps formulate the characteristics and content of the curriculum, c) Understanding of character will help formulate the characteristics of professional teachers, d) Understanding of character will help formulate the code school ethics and discipline, e) Understanding of character can help formulate effective methods and approaches in the learning process, f) Understanding of character can create a conducive educational environment.

This paper briefly and through theoretical studies will discuss simply the problems formulated, the impact of globalization on Character education in Indonesia, as well as the paradigm of PKN learning and Character education challenges for the younger generation. It is on the ground by the declining awareness and moral values, as well as to increase the values of the characters seen in the young generations. Civic education in Indonesia has been running throughout the history of Indonesian independence, and has gone through various stages and arms, it certainly demands greater hard work of teachers to be able to increase the values of Pancasila and love of the homeland, and practice the character values which is based on the noble values of Indonesian culture into Indonesian youth.
