Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN) are infrequent malignant tumors of a neuroendocrine nature that arise in various organs. They occur most frequently in the lungs, intestines, stomach and pancreas. Molecular diagnostics and prognosis of NEN development are highly relevant. The role of clinical biomarkers can be played by microRNAs (miRNAs). This work is devoted to the analysis of data on miRNA expression in NENs. For the first time, a search for specificity or a community of their functional characteristics in different types of NEN was carried out. Their properties as biomarkers were also analyzed. To date, more than 100 miRNAs have been characterized as differentially expressed and significant for the development of NEN tumors. Only about 10% of the studied miRNAs are expressed in several types of NEN; differential expression of the remaining 90% was found only in tumors of specific localizations. A significant number of miRNAs have been identified as potential biomarkers. However, only a few miRNAs have values that characterized their quality as markers. The analysis demonstrates the predominant specific expression of miRNA in each studied type of NEN. This indicates that miRNA’s functional features are predominantly influenced by the tissue in which they are formed.

The study of interactions between polyelectrolytes (PE) and surfactants is of great interest for both fundamental and applied research. These mixtures can represent, for example, models of self-assembly and molecular organization in biological systems, but they are also relevant in industrial applications. Amphiphilic block polyelectrolytes represent an interesting class of PE, but their interactions with surfactants have not been extensively explored so far, most studies being restricted to non-associating PE. In this work, interactions between an anionic amphiphilic triblock polyelectrolyte and different types of surfactants bearing respectively negative, positive and no charge, are investigated via surface tension and solution rheology measurements for the first time. It is evidenced that the surfactants have different effects on viscosity and surface tension, depending on their charge type. Micellization of the surfactant is affected by the presence of the polymer in all cases; shear viscosity of polymer solutions decreases in presence of the same charge or nonionic surfactants, while the opposite charge surfactant causes precipitation. This study highlights the importance of the charge type, and the role of the associating hydrophobic block in the PE structure, on the solution behavior of the mixtures. Moreover, a possible interaction model is proposed, based on the obtained data.

Alterations in the expression level of the MYC gene are often found in the cells of various malignant tumors. Overexpressed MYC has been shown to stimulate the main processes of oncogenesis: uncontrolled growth, unlimited cell divisions, avoidance of apoptosis and immune response, changes in cellular metabolism, genomic instability, metastasis, and angiogenesis. Thus, controlling the expression of MYC is considered as an approach for targeted cancer treatment. Since c-Myc is also a crucial regulator of many cellular processes in healthy cells, it is necessary to find ways for selective regulation of MYC expression in tumor cells. Many recent studies have demonstrated that non-coding RNAs play an important role in the regulation of the transcription and translation of this gene and some RNAs directly interact with the c-Myc protein, affecting its stability. In this review, we summarize current data on the regulation of MYC by various non-coding RNAs that can potentially be targeted in specific tumor types.

The thiazide-sensitive Na+-Cl− cotransporter (NCC), a member of the SLC12 family, is mainly expressed in the apical membrane of the mammalian distal convoluted tubule (DCT) cells, is responsible for cotransporting Na+ and Cl− from the lumen into DCT cells and plays a major role in the mammalian renal NaCl reabsorption. The NCC has also been reported in fish, but the functional role in fish ion regulation is yet unclear. The present study used zebrafish as an in vivo model to test the hypothesis of whether the NCC plays a role in Na+ and/or Cl− uptake mechanisms. Four NCCs were cloned, and only one of them, zebrafish (z) slc12a10.2 was found to predominately and specifically be expressed in gills. Double in situ hybridization/immunocytochemistry in zebrafish skin/gills demonstrated that the specific expression of zslc12a10.2 mRNA in a novel group of ionocytes differed from those of the previously-reported H+-ATPase-rich (HR) cells and Na+-K+-ATPase-rich (NaR) cells. Gill mRNA expression of zslc12a10.2 was induced by a low-Cl environment that stimulated fish Cl− influx, while a low-Na environment suppressed this expression. Incubation with metolazone, a specific inhibitor of the NCC, impaired both Na+ and Cl− influx in 5-day postfertilization (dpf) zebrafish embryos. Translational knockdown of zslc12a10.2 with a specific morpholino caused significant decreases in both Cl− influx and Cl− content of 5-dpf zebrafish embryos, suggesting that the operation of zNCC-like 2 results in a net uptake of Cl− in zebrafish. On the contrary, zslc12a10.2 morphants showed increased Na+ influx and content that resulted from upregulation of mRNA expressions of Na+-H+ exchanger 3b and carbonic anhydrase 15a in HR cells. These results for the first time provide in vivo molecular physiological evidence for the possible role of the NCC in the Cl− uptake mechanism in zebrafish skin/gills.

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) PCAT6 is a member of the Prostate Cancer Associated Transcripts family of molecules. In this review, we focus on the latest studies involving PCAT6 in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of malignant tumors of the digestive, respiratory, urinary, reproductive, motion, and nervous systems. PCAT6 was found to be highly expressed in gastric cancer, colon cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, osteosarcoma, glioblastoma, and other tumors. PCAT6 can promote the development and progression of different types of malignant tumors through various mechanisms. Overall, these findings suggest that PCAT6 may play an increasingly vital role in the clinical assessment of these malignant tumors. It can function as an oncogene and may be used as a potential new prognostic biomarker of these tumors.

Epigenetic studies of the level of microRNAs in human oncogenesis indicate their signifi cant role in the development and growth of malignant tumors of various origins. The fi rst works on the role of microRNAs in patients with uveal melanoma appeared in 2008.The aim: to analyze the expression level of miRNA-126 and miRNA-223 in the plasma blood of patients and to determine their signifi cance in the refi ned diagnosis of choroidal melanoma. Materials and methods. We examined 84 patients with choroidal melanoma (CM), mean age – 63.4 ± 1.2 (35–86 y.o.). Localization – a single CM node with a thickness of 0.77–17.19 mm. The control group consisted of 28 volunteers, age – 62.9 ± 1.42 (45–78 y.o.). Plasma miRNA expression levels were determined by real-time PCR.Results. An increase in the level of expression of miRNA-223 and miRNA-126 in blood plasma was confi rmed in all 84 patients with choroidal melanoma N0M0 compared with the control group. An increase in the expression of miRNA-223 and miRNA-126 was proved with an increase in tumor prominence.Conclusion. The obtained results of an increase in the expression of miRNA-223 indicate an increase in cell proliferation, and an increase in the expression of miRNA-126 on the activation of angiogenesis in a growing tumor, which makes it possible to recommend a study of the level of miRNA-223 and miRNA-126 for a more accurate diagnosis of small CM in cases of difficulty of differential diagnosis with other tumor-like diseases of the choroid.

PurposeThis paper empirically explores the role of skill losses during unemployment behind firms' behaviour in interviewing long-term unemployedDesign/methodology/approachThe analysis makes use of the Work Employment Relations Survey in the UK, while it applies a panel probit modelling approach to estimate the empirical findings.FindingsThe findings document that skill losses during long-term unemployment reduce the likelihood of an interview, while they emphasize the need for certain policies that could compensate for this deterioration of skills. For robustness check, the estimation strategy survives the examination of the same predictors under different types of the working environment.Originality/valueThe original values of the work 1 combines for the first time both duration and technology as predictors of interview probability. Until now, the independent variables were used to test whether an individual has managed to exit unemployment, thus skipping the step of the interview process.


For today there is a far of the publications sanctified to soviet history of 1930th. However basic attention in them is spared there are 1937-1939 to strengthening of the totalitarian mode and repressions. And the problems of combating crime have received little attention.Research aim. Taking into account insufficient worked out of theme, an author put an aim to itself to light up the role of militia in counteraction to some types of criminality in the second half 1930th. This range of problems is wide enough, that is why we specially did not investigate some of directions of activity of militia at this time, in particular fight against gangsterism, counteract to economic criminality and role of militia in repressions 1937-1938, as it is an object other our scientific researches.Research methodology. The fundamental methodological principle of the study for the author was historicism. We tried to study the processes, events and facts in chronological order, taking into account the then socio-political situation. The method of comparison allowed to consider the general and special in activity of militia of different regions of the republic and differences in counteraction to different types of crimes.The scientific novelty of the article is that for the first time in the historical literature it reveals the activities of the police in combating crime in the second half of the 1930s., related to improving the work of investigators, district inspectors.In the article basic directions of activity of militia are exposed in relation to counteraction to some types of crimes in Ukraine, in the second half of 1930th. In this time a "liberal" period made off relatively in history of soviet legislation.It was considered that in connection from completion of building of socialism in the USSR the main causations of crime, related to the inheritance of, are czarism on the whole removed, and the pore of the most rapid liquidation of criminality came, although at this time appeared and new types of crimes : 1. crimes related to the passport system (imitation, sale and purchase, theft of passports); 2. violation of charter of agricultural artel, violation of soviet and of a collective farm democracy; 3.sabotage of Stakhanovsky motion, pursuit ofStakhanov’ s men.New Constitution of the USSR was accepted in 1936, and in 1937 is new Constitution of Ukraine. For them wide rights for soviet citizens were proclaimed, but in reality they were not realized, becoming illustration to neglect of law and law and order.However would be an overstatement to consider that there was complete legal anarchy and raging of criminality in the state .Conclusions. In the second half 1930th a militia, without regard to mass repressions and certain vagueness of fate of many workers, continued counteraction to criminality. Certain attention was spared to the improvement of work of investigators, district inspectors, secret-service-informative work, bringing in of public to counteraction to criminality. In the total it was succeeded to attain some reduction of general level to criminality.

ABSTRACTMicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a critical role as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression. The ENCODE project profiled the expression of miRNAs in a comprehensive set of tissues during a time-course of mouse embryonic development and captured the expression dynamics of 785 miRNAs. We found distinct tissue and developmental stage specific miRNA expression clusters, with an overall pattern of increasing tissue specific expression as development proceeds. Comparative analysis of conserved miRNAs in mouse and human revealed stronger clustering of expression patterns by tissue types rather than by species. An analysis of messenger RNA gene expression clusters compared with miRNA expression clusters identifies the potential role of specific miRNA expression clusters in suppressing the expression of mRNAs specific to other developmental programs in the tissue where these microRNAs are expressed during embryonic development. Our results provide the most comprehensive timecourse of miRNA expression as an integrated part of the ENCODE reference dataset for mouse embryonic development.

The human six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of the prostate (STEAP) proteins, which include STEAP1–4 and atypical STEAP1B, contain six transmembrane domains and are located in the cell membrane. STEAPs are considered archaeal metal oxidoreductases, based on their heme groups and F420H2:NADP+ oxidoreductase (FNO)-like structures, and play an important role in cell metal metabolism. Interestingly, STEAPs not only participate in biological processes, such as molecular transport, cell cycling, immune response, and intracellular and extracellular activities, but also are closely related to the occurrence and development of several diseases, especially malignant tumors. Up to now, the expression patterns of STEAPs have been found to be diverse in different types of tumors, with controversial participation in different aspects of malignancy, such as cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and therapeutic resistance. It is clinically important to explore the potential roles of STEAPs as new immunotherapeutic targets for the treatment of different malignant tumors. Therefore, this review focuses on the molecular mechanism and function of STEAPs in the occurrence and development of different cancers in order to understand the role of STEAPs in cancer and provide a new theoretical basis for the treatment of diverse cancers.

: Lectin acts as an effective tool for screening potential biomarkers and gives an indication of highly valued research. Lectin offers the advantage of having the ability to recognize carbohydrate moiety of glycoprotein, peptidoglycan, glycosides, glycopeptides, lipopolysaccharide, etc., aiding in the detection of a new cancer biomarker in most complex tissues and fluids. The unique specificity of lectin in detecting single anomalously expressed lectin-based glycosylation method that can often go down the line for future cancer biomarker. This article explores the different types of lectin, their sources, and possible application in masking the activity of ovarian cancer cell.
