Puppet is a culture of the Indonesian nation. Puppet stories originally developed during the Javanese Hindu era. Pewayangan has been appointed as a masterpiece of world culture by UNESCO on 7 November 2003 or the Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. One of the familiar characters in puppet stories is Hanoman. However, nowadays people, especially teenagers who call themselves millennials, are less interested in puppet stories. To introduce traditional culture to society and millennial adolescents as the younger generation, breakthroughs or new innovative ways are needed, one of which is media that is popular among young people, namely by making a room decoration lamp called the Night Light Shadow Box. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research methods. The research begins by exploring the Hanoman figure. Furthermore, developing the results of observations that have been made through the product design of the Night Light Shadow Box so as to produce creative products that are in accordance with the interests of the community and millennial youth. The purpose of this research is (1) to create creative products with Hanoman local content vision that can compete with foreign products. (2) can foster understanding and love of the community towards the local culture of the archipelago.

This study aims to reveal elements of multicultural education in traditional culture of Muna, one of ethnic groups in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, by employing a descriptive qualitative research method. Main informants of the study included maestros of tradition preservation, traditional prominent figures, main figures of the society, and youth figures. Data were collected by conducting participatory observations, in-depth interviews, and focused group discussions. The data were then analyzed by performing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawing. Findings of the study showed that Munanese traditional culture contains values of multicultural education such as appreciation of others’ services and creations, harmoniously living with others, awareness of a fundamental nature of human as a creature subject to weaknesses, advocating the need to exhibit noble characters, recognition and respect of others’ right, high work ethic, and gender neutrality. These values of multicultural education are embedded in taboo tradition, traditional sayings, folklores, and traditional riddles.

Siraman is a Javanese traditional culture that is held for a bride or bridegroom at a day before ijab qobul. This study uses qualitative research method to gain information from respondents. The researchers collect information from 32 people who experienced Javanese siraman whether as bride/bridegroom or as parents/elders, and literature reviews on the related topic. The researchers limit the object into Javanese siraman tradition that has several steps; sungkeman, ngracik sekar, siraman, wudhu saking kendi, pecah kendi, pangkas rikma, and gendongan, where each step of the siraman process has its own meanings. The aim of this study is to reinterpret the emergence of siraman as a series of rituals done in traditional Javanese weddings. The focus is on siraman especially in East Java. It also includes the philosophy of each step, the tools used and the people involved in the process of siraman. In other words, it also seeks information on the different functions of siraman from the past and present as one of trends in Javanese wedding process nowadays. At the end, this study can be used as one of information sources about Javanese siraman traditonal culture, and gives confirmation and prespectives about Javanese siraman trends as a Javanese traditional culture.   Keywords: Siraman, Javanese Traditional Culture, Philosopy, Trends

This topic makes an exploratory research on the teaching mode of cultural and creative product design. Besides, via the research method of semantic combination, we make a product redesign of Liaoning traditional culture. Through the cognitive construction and semantic innovation of the semantic vocabulary of regional characteristics, crowd characteristics, innovation characteristics and metaphorical features, it provides new ideas for the innovation and dissemination of regional cultural product design. Verify the design hypothesis through the practice of design model, so as to obtain the solution of Liaoning cultural product design.

Bergabung ke dalam organisasi sebagai seorang relawan menjadi fenomena unik di kalangan anak muda, mengingat, seorang relawan harus rela untuk mengorbankan materi serta energinya demi kepentingan organisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap alasan dari ketertarikan anak muda untuk bergabung sebagai relawan di organisasi Sinergi Muda. Teori yang digunakan ialah Theory of Needs dari David McClelland dan konsep sharing. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan empat narasumber untuk memperoleh data primer dan data-data terkait untuk memperoleh data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan bahwa anak muda yang bergabung sebagai relawan di organisasi Sinergi Muda bermotif kebutuhan akan pengakuan diri yang diperoleh melalui aktivitas sharing di media sosial.Kata kunci:  organisasi, relawan, pengakuan diri, sharingJoining into the organization as a volunteer becomes a unique phenomenon among young people, remembering, a volunteer must be willing to sacrifice his material and energy for the sake of the organization. This study aims to reveal the reasons for the interest of young people to join as volunteers at the Sinergi Muda organization. The theory used is David McClelland's Theory of Needs and the concept of sharing. The method used is a qualitative research method by interviewing four informants to obtain primary data and related data to obtain secondary data. The result shows that young people who join as volunteers in the Sinergi Muda organization are motivated by the need for self-recognition obtained through sharing activities on social media.Keywords: Organization, volunteer, self recognition, sharing

Chinese culture has been continuously developing for 5000 years of historical development. Its traditional culture has had an impact on social development, and this traditional culture is rooted in the development of the society. The traditional Chinese culture also has certain significance for the design of modern cultural and creative works, which does not only inject vitality for cultural and creative products, but it also enhances the artistry of cultural and creative products. Therefore, based on this, this paper expounds the concept of traditional Chinese culture with cultural and creative products, analyzes the value of traditional culture in cultural and creative products, and explores how to refine and draw lessons from traditional Chinese cultural elements in the process of cultural and creative product design.

This research discusses the social media Twitter, which can arouse awareness, and context sharing, which can make a tweet become viral and hotly discussed by many people, especially Twitter netizens. This research is motivated by the many uses of social media that tend to lead to actions that are inappropriate and negative. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to provide an explanation that the social media Twitter can inspire young people to provide information that is not only important but also provides profound and useful meaning. This study employs the qualitative research method and is based on phenomenology. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that the social media Twitter can get more positive feedback from the public, not only by helping others but also through other good things that can be followed by other Twitter users, especially the younger generation.

Women's representation in the Indonesian legislative still does not meet the expectations of 30% of the total. In addition to the lack of representation of women in the legislature, the representation of young people especially the millennial generation is very minimal in the ranks of DPR members in the 2014-2019 period. Tsamara Amany Alatas, a 22-year-old woman who graduated from Communication Studies at Paramadina University, went on to run as a legislative candidate. Tsamara built his distinction on social media, especially Instagram. Tsamara always showed the feminine and young side he had as his campaign strategy. The research method used in this study is qualitative research using content analysis of Instagram posts which are then supported by interview data to informants. The results of the study indicate that the distinctive formation built by Tsamara where change appeared when he had entered the world of politics with an appearance that reflected young people who were casual and friendly with the aim of forming the perception that Tsamara wanted to be closer and accepted by society, so that he was not distant from society so that the branding of the millennial politicians that he brings can be conveyed well.

This research aims to determine the strategy for preserving the Jamasan Pusaka tradition, the roles of the community and the government, and what obstacles are faced in the effort to preserve the Jamasan Pusaka Tradition. The research method uses qualitative research and data analysis using SWOT analysis. Based on the research conducted, the researcher found that the preservation of the Jamasan Pusaka tradition in Suroloyo is the only Jamasan Pusaka tradition that is in Kulon Progo. In addition, this tradition is carried out at the Puncak Suroloyo Tourism Object on the first of Suro with promotional efforts to attract tourists to witness. In an effort to preserve the jamasan heritage tradition, it can be said that it is good because the surrounding community is still carrying out this tradition until now and especially this event has been promoted in various media, both social media and print media so that tourists who don't know can watch it. In addition, the community plays an important role in the Jamasan Pusaka Tradition event where the community still carries out this tradition until now and the Government is very helpful. The obstacle in preserving the Jamasan Pusaka Tradition is because many young people, both the community and tourists, do not know what the purpose, potential, and heirlooms are used in this traditional event. Local cultural values in cultural interaction cause people tend to ignore the values of local culture so that requires a policy in preserving local culture in the village Sendangmulyo, Minggir, Sleman. The purpose of this study is to know the potential of Sendangmulyo village and how the implementation of village culture policy in preserving local culture in Sendangmulyo village, Minggir, Sleman. This research method using descriptive qualitative research method. Based on research, Sendangmulyo village has cultural potential such as tabuh gamelan, dance art, Jathilan and Encling, Thek-Thek, Gejog Lesung, kethoprak, craft and culinary, and merti desa. Implementation of cultural village policy based on the assessment of the Culture Department of Yogyakarta, Sendangmulyo is in the category of advanced cultural village. The power factor of Sendangmulyo village is the cultural potential and the support of the community. Weakness of less skilled human resources, institutional lack of understanding of its function, as well as inadequate facilities become weaknesses, as well as understanding the culture and involvement of young people who are still less a threat factor. Opportunities that can be developed that Sendangmulyo village can be a cultural destination. In overcoming the weaknesses of human resources, institutions and facilities and infrastructure in Sendangmulyo village, the village government with the support of the Provincial Cultural Office of Yogyakarta Specialized by increasing the motivation, knowledge and participation of the community through trainings, improving village management institutions through increased management, village culture and provide funding to hold a cultural title

This paper was written to read visual signs and verbal marks contained in the cartoon Sompret by I Wayan Sadha. I Wayan Sadha's Sompret cartoon has its uniqueness as a work of visual communication. The uniqueness is that the visual communication of this cartoon presents illustrations, typography, and layouts with a deep appreciation of Balinese culture. The illustration presents a Balinese wearing a headdress is a representation of a Balinese in traditional culture. The illustration of a Balinese without a headdress is a representation of a Balinese who is in the modern culture. The typography used utilizes the display font to present the conversation and clarify the description of the image. The letters are used to explain the issue raised as Sadha's opinion and point of view on the Bali issues. Sadha's Sompret Cartoons only use lines, no color, so his works appeared as black and white cartoons. Sompret cartoons used the symmetrical balance composition and hidden balance layout, the perspective of human eye level, and the perspective of a bird's eye. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. Semiotic theory is used in this research and focus on denotation and connotation meaning. Denotationally, the Sompret cartoon of Sadha presents a narrative of events based on the issue raised related to Balinese traditional culture and the flow of globalization. The work is created in a one-panel cartoon. The story of this cartoon sometimes with conversations of several characters or only illustrations of the characters without any conversation. With the narrative being built, the meaning of the connotation can be read. The connotations meaning of Sompret cartoons as opinion cartoons is showing the flow of globalization or modern culture in the middle of the strength of the Balinese traditional culture. Connotatively this cartoon can be read as a development of globalization in Bali.
