Ecuador has considered the Popular and Solidarity Economy (EPS) as one of the best techniques to satisfy the economic need that arises in society, because this new form of organization allows undertaking and improving the enterprises that have arisen by improving the economic level of those who undertake. For this reason, several articles related to the research topic have been reviewed in order to observe the development that this economy has had in the last ten years in Ecuador. For this reason, this work is descriptive since it makes a critical review of the literature and applies a qualitative methodology, since it describes to what extent the economy in Ecuador has improved and emphasis is placed on savings and credit cooperatives who have had a successful economic development in the last decade, since they have increased both their economic capital and their members, and there are currently 887 cooperatives. These cooperatives have been substantially important when approving loans for small and medium entrepreneurs, because their interest rate is low and with payment facilities, which has allowed the increase of enterprises in different sectors, especially in rural areas.

Vehicle-pedestrian conflict is a commonly unsafe event that occurs in both urban and rural areas, especially in developing countries. It is still an open research topic, mostly in traffic safety and urban planning, which is utilised for evaluating the behaviours of vehicles and pedestrians at a non-signalised marked walkway. Three stations were selected based on higher daily activities to calculate the regularity of pedestrian movement. A manual calculation method was applied, and the calculation was done only during the daytime. Three different teams were formed to obtain the measurements at the three different sampling points simultaneously. A present study on preliminary vehicle-pedestrian conflict reveals the frequency of pedestrians in a concentrated area and its Level of Service (LOS) in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Serdang. The findings show that rush hour occurs during the mid-day in weekday, when students have finished their classes and adults have gone out for other businesses.

There are “urban-rural municipalities” in Polish administration nomenclature. They are territorial units where urban and rural areas have one name and one local government. There are also urban and rural municipalities that have one name but different local governments. That neighborhood of municipalities in Polish may be described as “municipalities bagel”. The aim of this article was to investigate whether and to what extent the “municipalities bagel” cooperate (coordinate) the exercising public tasks on the economic level. The article attempts to verify the research hypothesis: in “municipalities bagel” there is a lack of coordination of the exercising public tasks”. The research method was a diagnostic survey in which the questionnaire was conducted. In December 2019, questionnaire forms were sent to all “municipalities bagel” in Poland. The results of the research indicated a lack of coordination in the performance of public tasks between “municipalities bagel”. The result is a reduction of the efficiency of performance of public duties in such municipalities. The “municipalities bagel” are functionally related areas. This link is characterized by the subordination of the interests of the rural municipality (especially economic). The development of bagel rural communes is determined by the development and cooperation with their urban counterparts.

The introduction lays out the relevance of the research topic—the political leadership of the president of the EU Commission. Explicating the empirical puzzle—the office’s peculiar combination of strong political demands, weak institutional powers, and potential for strong political leadership—it poses the operational research question: What makes political leadership in supranational governance successful and to what extent (and why) do Commission presidents differ in their leadership performance? A brief review of the literature on the European Commission presidency accompanies a survey of core themes in the study of political leadership, in particular beyond national constituencies. Finally, the introduction presents the research design and data set as well as the study’s main findings, and outlines how the rest of the book is structured.
