Many studies prove that religiosity is related to mental health. Islamic boarding schools are considered capable of strengthening religiosity in adolescents. Many parents put their children into Islamic boarding schools in the hope that their children will be positive adults. The problem that must be answered in this research is: Is there a relationship between religiosity and mental health of adolescents in Islamic boarding schools? Is there a relationship between the dimensions of religiosity and mental health? The results showed that the correlation value between religiosity scores and mental health scores in participants, r = 0.31, p <0.01, two-tailed. These results indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between religiosity scores and mental health scores in Islamic boarding schools adolescent with 9.61% of mental health variance can be explained by religiosity, while the rest is caused by other factors. While other results from this study indicate that among the dimensions of mental health, religiosity has a positive and significant relationship only with social welfare, namely r = 0.3, p <0.01, two-tailed. This means that the higher the level of religiosity felt by Islamic boarding school adolescents, the higher the dimensions of their social welfare, and vice versa.

Smoking is one of the health risk behaviors that increasingly threatens young and even teenagers. Not only in public schools, but also the increasing number of Islamic boarding schools. Even in some Islamic boarding school activities, in addition to serving food, the boarding school also provides treats for cigarettes. This is a challenge that is still difficult to resolve, because the age of smokers is getting younger. This study aims to find out the relationship between knowledge and attitude with smoking behavior of students in Surabaya Al Jihad Islamic Boarding School. Method: This study was an analytic observational study with crossectional design. The population of this research is all students who live in Al Jihad Islamic Boarding School Surabaya. The study sample was 97 respondents who were selected by random sampling. Data collection is done by interviewing using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. This study shows that there is no significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.885) and santriwan smoking behavior. But there is a significant relationship between attitudes and santriwan smoking behavior (p = 0.025). Strengthening the knowledge and attitudes of santrians regarding smoking is important, because this can affect the smoking behavior of santri in Islamic boarding schools. It is expected that the leaders and managers of Islamic Boarding Schools are committed to implementing a non-smoking area by providing warning bans on smoking around Islamic boarding schools

Background: Poskestrens' cadres as the ambassador in improving Clean and Healthy Life Behavior (CHLB) of the students at boarding school. They also could plan and solve the problems that happened at boarding using any available potential resources. However, the CHLB survey at boarding schools conducted by cadres shows that most students at boarding were not interested in doing the CHLB. This study analyses the determinant factors of Poskestren cadres' behaviour to increase CHLB practice at Islamic boarding schools.Method: This research was quantitative and analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. Sixty-seven Poskestren cadres were selected in this study by using a stratified proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. Results: The results show that 52.2% of Poskestren cadres had good behavior in improving CHLB at Islamic boarding schools, and the remaining 48.8 were still less behaviour. The Chi-Square statistical test shows no significant relationship between age, education, facilities, infrastructure availability, and the Poskestren cadres' behaviour. However, there was a significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes, encouragement from health workers, motivation from the boarding school caregivers, and the Poskestren cadres' behaviour. The most substantial relationship of this study was the knowledge of Poskestren cadres (p value = 0.000, OR = 16,500). This study suggests that health workers' encouragement by providing virtual-based counseling to the cadres needs to be conducted to improve the Poskestrens cadres' knowledge and attitudes to CHLB.

This article examines the appropriation and redirection of the Gothic in two contemporary, Native-centered feature films that concern a history that can be said to haunt many Native North American communities today: the history of Indian boarding schools. Georgina Lightning’s Older than America (2008) and Kevin Willmott’s The Only Good Indian (2009) make use of Gothic conventions and the figures of the ghost and the vampire to visually relate the history and horrors of Indian boarding schools. Each of these Native-centered films displays a cinematic desire to decenter Eurocentric histories and to counter mainstream American genres with histories and forms of importance to Native North American peoples. Willmott’s film critiques mythologies of the West and frontier heroism, and Lightning attempts to sensitize non-Native viewers to contemporary Native North American concerns while also asserting visual sovereignty and affirming spiritual values.

One of the great traditions in Islamic education institutions in Indonesia is teaching by transmitting Islamic values as found in classical books written centuries ago. The majority in Indonesia, the classic book is better known as the Kitab Kuning. Teaching with the Kitab Kuning is usually done in Islamic Boarding Schools. Examining Kitab Kuning requires qualified Arabic language skills at least passively. Unfortunately, not all Islamic boarding schools that have a variety of superior programs in certain fields, are weak in the field of studying Kitab Kuning. One of them is the Islamic Boarding School Mu'allimin Muhammadiyyah Sawah Dangka which has the flagship Tahfizh Alquran program but is weak in the study of Kitab Kuning. One of the main factors is the lack of adequate quality of human resources. For this reason, this community service activity aims to provide training while introducing new, lightweight methods in learning Arabic, namely the Bihaqatil Jumal method. This method emphasizes learning Arabic using the right brain. After a series of community service activities, teachers and Islamic boarding schools felt helped and gained new experiences in learning Arabic methods to study Kitab Kuning. In addition, both the assisted object and the resource person requested that this kind of community service be continued.

Extending the critical project of interrogating the consumer subject form, in this study, the consumer subject is read as potentially acritical, precarious and psychotic through Dufour’s Lacanian-inspired analysis of neoliberal subjectivity. Reflecting on two case studies from an ethnographic-type study of young women, identity and consumer culture, I demonstrate how participants attempt to fulfil neoliberal ideals related to agency, productivity and creativity. Relying on commodities for symbolic anchoring in doing so, a ‘psychotic’ and precarious subject position is evidenced. While the findings could certainly be interpreted as productive, tendencies toward materialism, uncertainty and anxiety, along with pervasive mental health issues, provided the impetus to further problematise dominant understandings of the consumer. Neoliberal consumer culture is evidenced as a harmful, dehumanising ideology that fosters competitiveness, individuality and meritocratic tendencies, encouraging a reliance on ever-changing, transient commodities to (in)form the self. This occurs at the expense of compromise, communality and social welfare, through which subjects may find more stable and emancipatory symbolic anchors. Only by recognising critical theorisations of the consumer as dominant subject positions of neoliberalism can cultural consumer researchers begin to imagine opportunities for resistance and emancipatory change.
