A promising factor for explaining the relationship between economic situation and time preferences is one's construal level (i.e., the abstractness/concreteness of thinking). In this preregistered experiment, we examined the effects of construal level manipulation on time discounting and additionally examined the relationships between the economic situation and time discounting in tasks involving both real incentives and hypothetical rewards. Although we found small effects of construal level manipulation on one's time preferences, we remain skeptical about the findings and offer alternative explanations. Further replication attempts on this topic are very much needed.

The article examines the relationship between the social policy of the state and the Institute of social work. Some foreign and domestic approaches to defi ning the essence of social work as a specifi c type of activity are presented. It is noted that at a specifi c historical stage, the prevailing directions of social work, models of social assistance and support are determined by the socio-economic situation in the country, the level of social development, and the socio-cultural context. It is emphasized that in the conditions of modern reality, there is a need to develop the Institute of social work and realize its potential.

Among the arguments for rapid economic reform in transitions to the market in Central and Eastern Europe, scholars have argued that rapid reformers could better take advantage of the period of ‘extraordinary politics’ at the beginning of the transition. Regime transitions provide a unique opportunity for politicians to implement economic reform since the public is more likely to grant the government room to reform. If the public is more likely to give politicians this window of opportunity, politicians should implement far-reaching reforms during that period. I test two propositions in this paper: (1) politicians in office during a period of liberalization will get high positive ratings at the polls which will gradually deplete over time; and (2) at the beginning of the transition, views of the current economic situation will not predict views of politics. I find that approval of the Polish government was unusually high in the first one and one-half to two years of the Polish transition. In the same period, assessments of the current economic situation only weakly affected assessments of politics. After the period of extraordinary politics comes to an end, the relationship between political and economic assessments is much stronger. Thus, in a country with a harsh economic reform program and six contentious national elections within eight years, there is strong evidence that politicians benefited from a period of extraordinary politics at the beginning of the regime.

Basically this question comes down to asking: Will the economy or the economic situation be of any help in salvaging the Union? Along the way to answering that, I want to address the question of what is the relationship between economic reform and republican integration from the perspective of the Center and from the perspective of economics.

Conducting research aimed at establishing the relationship between economic development and non-violation of the environment and developing optimal ways of their interaction is possible only by studying the features of regional development, which requires a comprehensive assessment of the ecological and socio-economic situation of the territories. The Baikal region includes Irkutsk Oblast, Republic of Buryatia, and Zabaykalsky Krai and occupies an exceptional place in Russia, due to Lake Baikal and unique natural features. The results of the assessment of the state of purity and quality of the environment indicate the emerging negative trends associated with water pollution, atmospheric air, and waste disposal in the Baikal region. Therefore, this article proposes the solutions to the problems in achieving sustainable development based on the implementation of the principles of the green economy, providing recommendations on how to reverse the current ecological and socio-economic situation of the Baikal region in a positive direction. Obtained practical assessments are essential for solving the problems of conservation and creating favorable conditions for the life of the population. Implementation of key government regulatory measures and changing existing approaches to managing the region based on the principles of the green economy will reduce the level of anthropogenic pressure on the environment.

As a result of comprehensive analysis of socio-economic situation in Kyrgyzstan regions it is worked out a method of ranking regions based on aggregation of various indicators determining important factors of region economic position. The rating of regions can be used for purposes of definition of investment attractiveness and providing transparency and reliability based on data of statistical institutes. The final result of the correlation analysis of the relationship between the growth rates of investment volume and the growth rates of the gross regional product showed that the relationship between them is very weak, which characterizes the inefficient use of investment resources.

State statistical indicators of the economic development do not include subjective factors aff ecting country’s population. So, rather optimistic assessments of Ukraine’s economic indicators contradict pessimistic moods and feelings of Ukrainian youth. Th e relevance of this study is due to the fact that the Low level satisfaction with the socio-economic situation in Ukraine and own opportunities and prospects of Ukrainian youth is the basis for the formation of behavioral guidelines, in particular, migratory moods. Th e purpose of this study is to analyze the attitude of young people to the economic environment in Ukraine, young people’s assessments of their own fi nancial situation, and the relationship of such subjective assessments to the migratory moods of young people. Th e study used general scientifi c methods and special sociological methods to process and analyze the results of the study “Youth of Ukraine 2018”. According to the survey “Youth of Ukraine 2018”, a signifi cant part of young people (88.9 %) thinks that economic situation became worse or didn’t change during last year. Youth assessments of their fi nancial situation are also pessimistic 83.3 % of young people in Ukraine assess their family’s fi nancial situation as average or below average. Th e novelty of this study is to analyze the relationship between youth subjective assessments of economic environment in Ukraine as an environment for the implementation of personal plans and intentions, youth assessments of their fi nancial situation and youth migratory attitudes. Migratory moods of young people are formed on the dissatisf action with their fi nancial situation and the economic situation in the country under the infl uence of various factors, among the main ones are the desire to improve their fi nancial situation through the desire to earn money or fi nd a job. Migratory moods of young people are manifested to varying degrees depending on their formation. Th e degree of formation of migration intentions signifi cantly depends on the real possibility of their implementation: the lower the level of material security, the more uncertain the migration guidelines. Th e young generation is a potential for the socio-economic revival of Ukraine, so its opinion, its assessments, its feelings are extremely important for the formation of adequate youth policy. Taking into account subjective factors which aff ect the behavioral orientations of young people is especially important in the formation of reasonable youth policy of Ukraine, and requires research, analysis and development of instruments based on such analysis.

Community of fishermen is one of social segments who considered as having daily life worse than other social segments, such as farmers, factory labourers, etc. Certain efforts can be done to improve the level of life of the fishermen, i.e to increase their production of fish. The way which can be done is by improving the unit of productive assets so that it can increase motivation of the fishermen for better behavior. Recently fishermen are not able to go out from their miserable socio economic situation, mainly due to (a) bargaining position weakness, (b) lacking of capital, (c) low level of knowledge and skill, (d) lacking of supervision, (e) no guarantee of promising market. Based on those evidence it is worth to study the relationship between fishermen motivation and their behavior to increase production of fish.
