Each public open space of the housing cluster has different locations, arrangement patterns, and physical elements so that the social interactions between occupants that occur in each open space are different. Therefore, it is necessary to know how this open space affects social interactions that occur. The method used in the research is qualitative descriptive. Conduct surveys to figure the conditions that occur in the field. Then find the relationship between literature and field conditions related to open space and social interaction with users. From the results of the study, it is known that the place, structuring pattern, and physical elements of space are open to influence the social interaction of residential residents. However, from the user community, the physical element of an open space is the most influential to the social interaction of residents. Without the physical elements that encourage occupant activity, there will be no social activities and interactions in the open space.

Abstract

The quality of public outdoor space has recently become an important issue and has been revealed by many studies. However, there are few studies that show the relationship between the quality of space and the social interaction that occurs between people. The most important goal of urban designers should be to create public open spaces that can meet the various needs of people. Using longer and more frequently, public open spaces allow the fulfilment of needs and also support social interaction. In this context, the concept of 'quality' of public open spaces is gaining importance. The quality of open spaces revealed by different characteristics of the environment has been determined by evaluating of the open spaces by their inclusiveness, meaningful activities, comfort, security and pleasurability and revealed the relationship between social interaction (passive-fleeting-enduring relationship). In order to determine this relationship, a questionnaire was conducted with 140 people (70 people in each park) in Atatürk Square Park and Fatih Park in Trabzon. As a result, a high level of relationship was found between the factors of inclusiveness, comfort and meaningful activities that determine the quality of space and social interaction.

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this paper is a theoretical discussion of the institutional dimension of patriarchal capitalist production relations. We argue why we can understand the relations of production and institutional circumstances involved in the engagement of the courses of action of the subjects, individual and collective. Circumstances 'in' action. For this we address three closely related issues. (1) The first concerns what we mean by circumstances and especially 'not choose circumstance'. The notion of ' institutionalization ' and ' disciplinary device ' is going to be useful for this purpose. (2) The second, what relationship does the notion of circumstance we use with the social interaction. The notion of ' accommodation ' will help us in this regard. (3) Third, what is the relationship between the established interaction dimension and practices of resistance? We propose a concept of the instituted as a disciplinary device that shapes our social interactions, and apply it constantly. We say disciplinary device because institutionalized power relations. That act of discipline configures the humans and his acts but, at the same time, enable them for resistance and transformation. In this sense the power relations that we establish in the production of our life and they are addressed, in patriarchal capitalism, to the appropriation of surplus and of the social practices that oppose it.RESUMENEl objeto de este artículo es una discusión teórica sobre la dimensión institucional de las relaciones de produc-ción capitalista patriarcal.

Abstract Using the Study on the Lifestyle and Values of Senior Citizens (The Eighth International Study by the Japan Cabinet Office), the social interactions were assessed in the context of health and life satisfaction of the older adults of the U.S and Japan to confirm the relationship between ICT usage and social interactions. The less social interaction was defined as those who answered that they had no “role in the family,” “working,” or “social activities such as volunteering.” The proportion of less-social interaction people and non-use of ICT increased with age, but the proportions of Japanese were higher than that in Americans. The adjusted odds ratio for non-use of ICT to the risk of isolation of the older adults in Japan was 2.43 (95% CI: 1.59-3.73), but no significant relationship was observed in American older adults. Future research will examine the use of ICT by older adults in each country.

The increasing numbers of people and buildings that continue to grow and tend to be uncontrolled in the settlement causing some negative impacts one of them is the consistency of land allotment. This has resulted in some impacts such as ineffective utilities and environmental infrastructures, no mitigation system, and the unavailability of space for public spaces and other supporting facilities that supposed to be available within a settlement. Kampung Arab is one of a densely populated settlements located in the middle of business center area of Manado City, occupies the Mahakam riverbank. The limited space available in Kampung Arab has caused the settlements tend to be slummed and doesn’t have public open space as one of the residential support facilities. In addition, this settlement expands riverbanks so the functions of riverbanks become disturbed, and these settlements are often at risk of flooding. The purpose of this research is to analyze the function of Mahakam riverbanks against flood risk and to analyze the possibility of public space and pedestrian ways availability at the location of Mahakam riverbanks around the Kampung Arab settlement. The three articles from Volume 14 that are reviewed here are linked by a common theme: the social interactions of children with special educational needs. The countries involved, the target group of pupils and the methodology vary but each one draws attention to the complexities of the social dimension of inclusion and suggest that physical proximity alone does not ensure positive social interaction.
