The problem of finding new approaches to the organization of training has become particularly important in times of digital turbulence. Today, during the coronovirus pandemic, there is a transition from the established traditional technologies of organizing training to the widespread use of digital technologies in the online learning system, which has covered the whole world. The purpose of the research is to substantiate, develop and test the model of the electronic coworking environment in the system of higher pedagogical education. At the same time, the coworking environment is considered as an educational virtual cluster. Such a basic platform is an educational content that includes all educational products. To solve the tasks, we used research methods: design and modeling; studying the products of the coworking environment, conversations in chats, questionnaires; mathematical processing methods. The presented research results revealed the advantages of the coworking environment: successful socialization, minimization of time and economic resources, expansion of business partnerships, mutual assistance and a comfortable atmosphere. The analysis of studies on the criterion of coworking productivity revealed an increase in the mobility of students, an increase in the satisfaction index and the effectiveness of communication. Testing the e-coworking model proves its advantages and prospects for implementation in the system of higher pedagogical education. The conducted research allowed us to come to the following conclusion: the introduction of remote technology models in the training of students and undergraduates based on the Moodle system in the form of a coworking environment is a powerful innovative resource. We predict the expansion of the industry of coworking spaces and see the need to continue scientific developments in this direction.

The definition of “coworking” is just beginning to enter the orbit of Russian and foreign scientific research. Coworking spaces as innovative educational content in higher education are being created in Russian universities. The purpose of the study is the justification, development, and testing of a model of electronic coworking environment in the system of higher pedagogical education. At that, coworking environment is considered as an educational virtual cluster at which a basic platform for educational content is created with all educational products attached to it. The following methods of research were used to solve the tasks: design and modeling; the study of coworking environment products, chat conversations, questionnaires; and mathematical methods of result processing (quantitative and qualitative analysis of research results). The results of the study have revealed the advantages of coworking environment: successful socialization, minimization of time and economic resources, expansion of business partnerships, mutual assistance and a comfortable atmosphere. Analysis of studies on the criterion of coworking productivity revealed an increase in student mobility and an increase in the index satisfaction and communication effectiveness. Testing of the electronic coworking model proves its benefits and prospects of its introduction into the system of higher pedagogical education. The results can be used in social psychology, pedagogy, and practice.

While the growing ubiquitousness of translation and interpreting has established these activities more firmly in the public consciousness, the extent of the translators’ and interpreters’ contribution to the continued functioning of cosmopolitan and participatory postmodern societies remains largely misunderstood. This paper argues that the theorisation of translation and interpretation as social phenomena and of translators/interpreters as agents contributing to the stability or subversion of social structures through their capacity to re-define the context in which they mediate constitutes a recent development in the evolution of the discipline. The consequentiality of the mediators’ agency, one of the most significant insights to come out of this new body of research, is particularly evident in situations of social, political and cultural confrontation. It is contended that this conceptualisation of agency opens up the possibility of translation being used not only to resolve conflict and tension, but also to promote them. Through a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, the contributing authors to this special issue explore a number of sites of linguistic and cultural mediation across a range of institutional settings and textual/interactional genres, with particular emphasis on the contribution of translation and interpreting to the genealogy of conflict. The papers presented here address a number of overlapping themes, including the dialectics of governmental policy-making and translation, the interface between translation, politics and the media, the impact of the narrative affiliation of translators and interpreters as agents of mediation, the frictional dynamics of interpreter-mediated institutional encounters and the dynamics of identity negotiation.

Subject. As digital technologies spread across all industries, active processes of digital transformation need to be managed both nationally and regionally. Assessing the extent of digitalization across types of economic activities is the key issue for setting up the socio-economic development strategy of the region and evaluating its efficiency. Objectives. The study is aimed to formulate and test methodological approaches to assessing the digitalization in types of economic activities and the potential of digital technologies for the real economy. Methods. The study relies upon the dialectical method, systems approach, questionnaires, expert approach, interpretation of empirical facts through tables, etc. Results. We devised a methodological approaches to assessing the extent of digitalization in types of economic activities across regions. The approach combines the quantification and evaluation of the process and helps determine the extent of local digital transformation at the regional level. We devised and tested the methodological approach to rating digital technologies, which have the high potential for raising the competitiveness and resilience to competition of the industrial sector in the Russian regions. As opposed to the existing approaches, the approach accounts for the current scale of digital technologies in the national economy, the potential for growth in the demand and supply in the domestic and foreign markets, and the potential for import substitution with respect to foreign technologies and products. Conclusions and Relevance. What makes the proposed methodological approaches more preferable is that they help assess not only the extent of digitalization in types of economic activities and the predominance of certain types in industrial enterprises, but also determine their potential for import substitution in terms of digital security.

During the last four decades, digital technologies have disrupted many industries. Car control systems have gone from mechanical to digital. Telephones have changed from sound boxes to portable computers. But have the firms that digitized their products and services become more valuable than firms that didn’t? Here we introduce the construct of digital proximity, which considers the interdependent activities of firms linked in an economic network. We then explore how the digitization of products and services affects a company’s Tobin’s q—the ratio of market value over assets—a measure of the intangible value of a firm. Our panel regression methods and robustness tests suggest the positive influence of a firm’s digital proximity on its Tobin’s q. This implies that firms able to come closer to the digital sector have increased their intangible value compared to those that have failed to do so. These findings contribute a new way of measuring digitization and its impact on firm performance that is complementary to traditional measures of information technology (IT) intensity.

The study aimed to examine the impact on parental strategies of regulating children’s digital gadgets from having a second child in the family. Ninety-three mothers took part in the survey. Twenty women had two children, one woman – three children, the others women – on one child. Parents evaluated the frequency of use of digital devices by each child and then filled out several checklists. The mathematical processing of data is represented by the analysis of сrosstabs (Cramer’s V Test and Somer’s D Test). The results of the study show that the use of digital devices is widespread among young children. At the same time, with the presence of senior siblings, the age of admission of the child to digital devices decreases. Thus, young children are exposed to digital technologies. Most parents seek to regulate the time and content children use. However, their rules were less stringent for the second child in the family. Parents should pay more attention to this.

PurposeCoworking-spaces are considered as a new formula to facilitate autonomy, creativity, self-efficacy, work satisfaction and innovation, yet they also might overburden their users who in that course intend to limit social interaction and collaboration in the workspace. Thus, the question is how coworking-spaces shape entrepreneurial ventures.Design/methodology/approachThis study used an inductive research methodology based on data from three different data sources, including observations, archives and interviews from managers and entrepreneurs.FindingsThe findings suggest that the materiality in the form of spatial architectures (working, socialization and support structures) shared facilities and infrastructures (utilities, luxuries and specialties), and integrated digital technologies (applications and platforms) influence the flow of communication, internal and external linkages, as well as functional uniformity and distinctiveness. However, there exists an inherent dualism in sociomaterial assemblage in coworking-spaces, which can lead to instrumental and detrimental outcomes for entrepreneurs.Originality/valueThis study explains the role of sociomaterial assemblage on the working of entrepreneurs in shared workspaces.

Digital technologies increase the impact on society, economy and education every day. Schools gradually penetrate the technologies of virtuality and complemented reality; teachers must be prepared not only for their understanding, but also for their use. Currently, mixed learning becomes more popular in educational institutions, but not all teachers understand the essence of this concept. A generalized analysis of domestic scholars has shown that the notion of "mixed learning" relates to such concepts as "learning process", "learning system", "educational technology", "educational methodology", "combination of methods", "modernization tool", etc. On the basis of the analysis of literature on the concept of "mixed learning" in foreign and domestic researchers, the author presents her own definition, discloses the main components of mixed learning and its benefits in organizing educational activities in institutions of general secondary education; a scheme of combining traditional and e-learning in a mixed one is prepared. Digital technologies have a significant impact on the nature, the form of training, the kind of activity of students, allow the implementation of fundamentally new forms and methods of learning, and, as a consequence, increase the efficiency of educational process in a digital society. Before higher education there is the task of training specialists who can use a computer for the organization of interactive training and testing, video conferencing, participation in telecommunication projects, webinars, forums, etc. It is noted that modern teacher has to develop independently educational content in text, video, multimedia and hypermedia format, to use digital and educational resources, to set up educational content management systems and to organize training with the use of the Internet and its services.
