Data repositories can support secure data management for multi-institutional and geographically dispersed research teams. Primarily designed to provide secure access, storage, and sharing of quantitative data, limited focus has been given to the unique considerations of data repositories for qualitative research. We share our experiences of using a data repository in a large qualitative nursing research study. Over a 27-month period, data collected by this 15-member team from 83 participants included photos, audio recordings and transcripts of interviews, and field notes. The data repository supported the secure collection, storage, and management of over 1,800 files with data. However, challenges were introduced during analysis that required negotiations about the structure and processes of the data repository. We discuss strengths and limitations of data repositories, and introduce practical strategies for developing a data management plan for qualitative research, which is supported through a data repository.

The problem studied was how the application of the CTL model could improve the ability to describe a fable in Class VIII-6 of SMPN 2 Peusangan. This study aimed to improve the ability to describe a fable in the class through the CTL model. The benefit of this research included improving fable describing ability on Class VIII-6 students of SMP Negeri 2 Peusangan through the application of the CTL model. The approaches used in this study were the qualitative research and the Class Action Research (PTK). Data collected in the study came from the pre-test and post test, observation, interviews, and field notes. The results showed that the implementation of narrative essay writing with the CTL approach could increase the activities of teachers and students. The results of observations of the teachers and students activities in the implementation of the cycle I action obtained and average percentage of 80.4%. However, in terms of the results, the implementation of the first cycle of action had not been successful because the students obtained the value of ≥ 65 were 68.6%, with 56% of class completeness. Thus, the researcher conducted a repetition cycle. The results of observations of teachers and students in the second cycle of action earned the average percentage of 84.2%, and reached 88% of classical completeness. Moreover, in terms of the results, the implementation of the second cycle showed that teaching narrative essay writing by applying the CTL model could improve students' writing on the fable describing materials. This can be seen from the percentage of the students who received ≥ 65 classically were 88%, with the class average of 84.2. Therefore, the CTL model used could increase the activities of teachers and students in fable describing in Class VIII-6 students of SMP Negeri 2 Peusangan, Bireuen district. The objectives of this research were (1) to explain the forms of Sikerei tattoo, (2) to analyze the meaning of Sikerei tattoo, and (3) to describe the function of Sikerei tattoo. The theory used is from Pierce's about semiotics which is used to answer the purpose of this research. For the method of data analysis, the authors use qualitative research by emphasizing meaning and inner understanding (verstehen), reasoning, definitions of certain situations (in some contexts), more to examine things related to everyday life such as the culture of an area and also semiotic theory. Data collection techniques use literature study techniques in finding data that is relevant to the subject of analysis. This research is qualitative research using the form of field notes, interviews, official personal documents, and photographs or images. Conclusion in this analysis is Sibalubalu as a symbol of health, said health because Sibalubalu is only used by Sikerei where Sikerei is a remedy for sick people in the Mentawai Islands especially in Taileleu village. And suggestion in this thesis is the early achievement that still needs to be developed and continued with more careful study, especially in terms of the research in the field of Sikerei tattoo.

The aim of this study is to analyze the algebraic thinking ability of students in SPLDV problems solving. This research was conducted by students in eighth grade with AQ climber type. The type of this study is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The technique of taking the subject is a purposive technique with two students as the subject that chosen with the AQ climber category. The instruments that used in this research are SPLDV matter solving sheets, interview guidelines, and field notes. The techniques of collecting data are tests, interviews, and field notes. The steps in analyzing data are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that climber students are able to think algebraic views from their activities, namely generational activity, transformational activity, and global meta-level activity. The indicators achieved in generational activities are students can understand the equations that contain variables namely the meaning of the equal sign and also students are able to understand the solution of equation. The indicators achieved in transformational activities are students being able to say terms, expand, substitute, solve equations, simplify expressions, and be able to change equations into equivalent equations. Whereas in global meta-level activities students are able to use algebra to predict a problem in mathematics and be able to model mathematics that related to algebra.

Abstract Background: At times of increasing pressure on emergency departments, and the need for research into different models of service delivery, little is known about how to recruit patients for qualitative research in emergency departments. We report from one study which aimed to collect evidence on patients’ experiences of attending emergency departments with different models of general practitioners, but faced challenges in recruiting patients. This paper aims to identify and reflect on the challenges faced at all stages of patient recruitment, from identifying and inviting eligible patients, consenting them for participation and finally to engaging them in interviews and make recommendations based on our learning. Methods: A thematic analysis was carried out on field-notes taken during research visits and meeting minutes of discussions to review and improve patient recruitment throughout the study. Results: The following factors influenced the success of patient recruitment in the emergency department setting: complicated or time-consuming electronic health record systems for identifying patients; narrow participant eligibility criteria; limited research nurse support; and lack of face-to-face communication between researchers and eligible patients. Conclusions: This paper adds to the evidence for improving patient recruitment in different settings, with a focus on qualitative research in emergency departments. Our findings have implications for future studies attempting to recruit patients in similar settings.

Formal is formal links referring to the fact inside the language, that consist of verb form, parallelism, ellipsis, referring expression, conjunction, substitution, and repetition. This study uses descriptive qualitative research in which the researcher just describe the result of the implementation from the instruments and the data is obtained from articles, literary works, field notes, and personal documents in the form of words or pictures rather than numbers. The object of this study is formal links and the subject is Westlife’s songs. The analysis is taken from twelve songs of Westlife in their “Back Home” album. From the whole data the researcher found that most of songs consist of more than one formal link. The formal links are; Verb Form, Referring Expression, Repetition, Parallelism, Conjunction, and Substitution. From those formal links the most used in Westlife’s songs is Referring Expression, it can be seen that referring expression dominate the others links in eight songs from twelve songs. The songs that are dominated by referring expression are Us Against the World, Something Right, I’m Already There, When I’m With You, Have You Ever, It’s You, Catch My Breath and the Easy Way. From the result of analysis it can be concluded that  Westlife’s songs has deep meaning which always referring with other words or elements and they avoid to repeat the identity of what they are sharing about again and again. To referring the meaning that they posted in their song’s lyric they used the third person pronouns like he, she, we, our, it, his, her, them. For the suggestion, the researcher recommends to the next researchers to analyze another part of discourse analysis such as discourse structure, discourse as dialogue, knowledge on discourse, etc.Keyword: Formal Link, Song Lyric, Weslife’s Song
