Objective: to analyze the effect of musical interventions to reduce stress levels in the elderly. Methods: quantitative research, of quasi-experimental type, in which the level of stress was assessed before and after interventions with the music therapy method, called receptive experience, in 25 elderly people in a support group. The Perceived Stress Scale was used and descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was performed. Results: in the assessment of perceived stress, the average was 33.6 (standard deviation 5.17) points in the pre-test and 31.6 (standard deviation 2.29) points in the post-test (p<0.05). In the assessment dimension, the reduction was identified only in the perceived distress factor. Pre-tests outcomes showed that the higher the monthly income, the lower the perceived stress (p=0.043). Conclusion: musical interventions with the participants of this study were able to reduce stress levels, indicating the importance of music as a therapeutic resource in health promotion actions.

ABSTRACTBackground : Joint flexibility decreases in old age due to a degenerative process resulting in changes in joints, connective tissue and cartilage in the elderly. Decreasing flexibility is also due to reduced elasticity of muscle fibers, where connective tissue in muscle fibers increases (Mariyam, 2008).Objective : The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of active exercise (ROM) on the lower extremities on increasing the flexibility of the knee joint in the elderlyMethods : This study using a quasi-experimental approach with One group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique uses the Slovin method of 42 people, obtained a sample of 25 elderly. Exercise is done twice a day for 8 days. Measurements were made on day 1, day 4 and day 8 of the study using a Goniometer measuring instrument..Result : The results of measurement I average of the right knee joint 117.52o, measurement II = 122.24, measurement III = 126, 36o. From the analysis with Paired simple t-Test between the measurements I and II, it was found that the different test measurements I and II t count value was equal to -1.908 with 0.068. Because sig 0.05, it can be concluded that Ho is accepted, meaning that the average angle of ROM before and after training is the same (not different). In the different test measurements II and III the value of t count is equal to -2.152 with sig 0.042.Conclusion : Because sig 0.05, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a difference in ROM angle after training between days 4 to 8 with the first day to day 4. Thus it can be stated that active ROM exercises affect the angle of ROM of the knee joint elderly after exercise ROM between day 4 to day 8. Keywords: active ROM exercise, flexibility of knee joint, elderly.

The increasing number of the elderly causes complex problems for the elderly, families and communities. Physiological and psychological changes make the elderly feel useless, experience decreased motivation and independence. One of the efforts to increase the independence of the elderly in order to remain qualified is the application of therapeutic modalities in the form of occupational therapy and group psychotherapy. This study aims to determine the changes in the independence of the elderly before and after Ocupasi therapy and Group Psychotherapy at PSTW Sabai Nan Aluih Sic Cincin, Padang Pariaman Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with "Quasi Experimental pre and post test with control group which was held from March to November 2019. The study sample was 63 elderly people who were taken by purposive sampling." The research instrument used the Katz AD Index. Data analysis used Paired sample t-test and Independent t test. The increase in the average independence of the dementia elderly was greater in the elderly who were given Ocupasi therapy and Group Psychotherapy by 18.83 compared to those who received Ocupasi therapy of 7,121. Conclusion The elderly who received occupational therapy and group psychotherapy experienced an increase in independence compared to the elderly who only received occupational therapy. It is recommended that nursing home nurses receive occupational therapy training modified with group psychotherapy and that the training module needs to be improved.

This study aimed to find out if Physics Education Technology (PhET) simulations can improve the performance of the Baybay City Senior High School STEM students on the selected topic in physics, that is, electrodynamics. This study utilized a quasi-experimental type where pre-test and post-test are multiple choice type of test and involved 72 STEM students. The grouping of the students was identified based on their sections, one section served as the control group and other is the experimental group. Experimental group is allowed to play the PhET simulation for an hour utilizing their vacant period every day, while the control is not exposed to any activity that intervene leading to the creation of formal construct of ideas in electrodynamics. Result showed that mean scores of the control and experimental groups does not imply a significant difference, despite of the interest shown by the students in playing the said simulation. Perhaps, students are more attracted to simulation in which they have gone through during their lectures. Furthermore, study shows that the performance of students before and after exposure to PhET simulation does not necessarily pose a big difference but indicates a slight improvement to their performances.
