Hypertension is one of the major risk factors of cardiovascular diseases, but despite a century of clinical and basic research, the discrete etiology of this disease is still not fully understood. The same is true for obesity, which is recognized as a major global epidemic health problem nowadays. Obesity is associated with an increasing prevalence of the metabolic syndrome, a cluster of risk factors including hypertension, abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, and hyperglycemia. Epidemiological studies have shown that excess weight gain predicts future development of hypertension, and the relationship between BMI and blood pressure (BP) appears to be almost linear in different populations. There is no doubt that obesity-related hypertension is a multifactorial and polygenic trait, and multiple potential pathogenetic mechanisms probably contribute to the development of higher BP in obese humans. These include hyperinsulinemia, activation of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system, sympathetic nervous system stimulation, abnormal levels of certain adipokines such as leptin, or cytokines acting at the vascular endothelial level. Moreover, some genetic and epigenetic mechanisms are also in play. Although the full manifestation of both hypertension and obesity occurs predominantly in adulthood, their roots can be traced back to early ontogeny. The detailed knowledge of alterations occurring in the organism of experimental animals during particular critical periods (developmental windows) could help to solve this phenomenon in humans and might facilitate the age-specific prevention of human obesity-related hypertension. In addition, better understanding of particular pathophysiological mechanisms might be useful in so-called personalized medicine.

People always engage in mutual relations and influence with other human beings in order to fulfill their needs and sustain their lives. The reaction action is a form of interaction created by humans, because humans are social beings who cannot live without the help of others. The purpose of this research is to know the pattern of communication built by the community and to know the process of social integration. The process of collecting data using the observation method conducted within 5 days in the study site area, and the interview method is conducted to obtain more accurate data in reviewing community development. Based on the results of the research, the pattern of interaction built by the community in Kramat is less good, because the whole community activities are done in the Office, school or other workplace. There is a social community that is engaged in the art of craft, but there are less people in the field because of limited time and location is less strategic, but also because it is commercial there are some people who lack It. Intersocial learning and network development in Kramat is a social facility that can be accessed by the whole community without seeing the social status. The facilities provided are the result of the interview data with the surrounding community as the basis for creating this project. Social containers are a facility provided to the community without charging a fee in certain provisions for the Community can be recreation and brainstorm and also knowledge in certain areas.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of related risk factors for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and liver disease. Obesity, which has become a global public health problem, is one of the major risk factors for development of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. Obesity is a complex disease, caused by the interplay between environmental and genetic factors. Ghrelin is one of the circulating peptides, which stimulates appetite and regulates energy balance, and thus is one of the candidate genes for obesity and T2DM. During the last years both basic research and genetic association studies have revealed association between the ghrelin gene and obesity, metabolic syndrome or type 2 diabetes

Herbal medicine is widely used in Asia as well as the west. Hepatotoxicity is one of the most severe side effects of herbal medicine which is an increasing concern around the world. Reynoutria multiflora (Thunb.) Moldenke (Polygonum multiflorum Thunb., PM) is the most common herb that can cause herb-induced liver injury (HILI). The recent scientific and technological advancements in clinical and basic research are paving the way for a better understanding of the molecular aspects of PM-related HILI (PM-HILI). This review provides an updated overview of the clinical characteristics, predisposing factors, hepatotoxic components, and molecular mechanisms of PM-HILI. It can also aid in a better understanding of HILI and help in further research on the same.

ABSTRACTIn the context of the information society and knowledge, the social development of a urban community needs the empowerment of intellectual technologies by its members, in a process that goes beyond the access and use of this technologies. Empowerment means appropriating with a view to developing a collective consciousness. From this perspective, it is presented a Ph.D research in Information Science, whose field of study is the Community of Santa Clara, located in the city of João Pessoa, Brazil, where since 2011 are being implemented various actions support of information social development of their subjects, in order that they can become the protagonists of their own lives. The methodological assumptions are based on a qualitative approach, with the use of participatory research. The technique of the content analysis will be used to process the data collected during the events organized in the community. The research will be supported by means of intellectual digital technologies and an information operator will make the mediation in this process. Finally, it is expected that the actions of information and empowerment for community development, become actions of socialization for the subjects, so that they can move toward themselves as responsible not only for their own attitudes, but also by existence and living conditions of the community.RESUMONo contexto da sociedade da informação e do conhecimento, para que o desenvolvimento social de uma comunida-de urbana ocorra, entende-se como necessário o empoderamento das tecnologias intelectuais por parte dos seus integrantes, em um processo que vai além do acesso e uso dessas tecnologias.

Despite the enormous progress in the understanding of the course of the ischemic stroke over the last few decades, a therapy that effectively protects neurovascular units (NVUs) and significantly improves neurological functions in stroke patients has still not been achieved. The reasons for this state are unclear, but it is obvious that the cerebral ischemia and reperfusion cascade is a highly complex phenomenon, which includes the intense neuroinflammatory processes, and comorbid stroke risk factors strongly worsen stroke outcomes and likely make a substantial contribution to the pathophysiology of the ischemia/reperfusion, enhancing difficulties in searching of successful treatment. Common concomitant stroke risk factors (arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia) strongly drive inflammatory processes during cerebral ischemia/reperfusion; because these factors are often present for a long time before a stroke, causing low-grade background inflammation in the brain, and already initially disrupting the proper functions of NVUs. Broad consideration of this situation in basic research may prove to be crucial for the success of future clinical trials of neuroprotection, vasculoprotection and immunomodulation in stroke. This review focuses on the mechanism by which coexisting common risk factors for stroke intertwine in cerebral ischemic/reperfusion cascade and the dysfunction and disintegration of NVUs through inflammatory processes, principally activation of pattern recognition receptors, alterations in the expression of adhesion molecules and the subsequent pathophysiological consequences.
