Purpose: This study was conducted in the framework of the anthropocentric direction with elements of the cognitive approach. Based on the concept of Yuriy M. Lotman, who asserts that a literary text is a model of reality, it verbally represents real components that structure the real world and ideal components. The purpose of this article is to identify the characteristics of the representation of the linguistic image of the concept “night” in the poetry of Afanasy A. Feta as a fragment of the Russian language picture of the world. Methodology: For this purpose, the extralinguistic conditions of the formation of the discursive space of Afanasy A. Fet's poetic texts are analyzed. The theoretical literature on the picture of the world and the poetic text are studied. The peculiarities of the linguistic concept image as a complex and multidimensional education are revealed. The paper also reveals the method of continuous sampling on the material of collections of poems by Afanasy A. Fet compiled a card index of poems about the night (187 poetic texts). Result: The rating of the frequency of language units is determined: night, moon, star, dawn; the ways of representing the linguistic image-concept “night” through the prism of the author purely individual consciousness have been revealed. The peculiarities of the verbalization of the linguistic image of the concept “night” in the composition of graphic-expressive means are determined. The study made it possible to conclude the picture of the world of the poet Afanasy A. Fet is a unique version of the individual picture of the world that has enriched the “concept-sphere” of the Russian language. The individual picture of the world of the lyrics is presented in his poetic texts, the complexity of the study of which lies in the fact that they are pointed out such features as emotionality, fragmentation, phatic imagery. The aim of the article is to introduce the authors’ perspective on how English loanwords are changing the structure and the content of the verbal code of Russian culture and the Russian linguistic pictures of the world, as well as on how the latter might change the former. Having used the continuous sampling method, observation method, and synchronic-diachronic approach (lexical semantic analysis, comparative semantic analysis, morphological and quantitative analysis), the authors have allocated and analyzed 487 loanwords, which led to the introduction of three distinguished types of interaction between the verbal code of the Russian language and foreign loanwords. The first interaction type is the process whereby the loanwords adapt semantically to the rules of the host language and culture, which leads to the complete change of a loanword meaning or its modification (15 words). The second interaction type is connected with the loanwords bringing new concepts to a host language and indicating borrowed ideas and objects (270 words). The differentiation of these two interaction types is based on the results of a synchronic and diachronic study of the loanwords in Russian. The analyzed interaction types are linked to the changes in the host language’s verbal code. A concept of a “hybrid linguistic picture of the world” is being introduced as the one constituting the third interaction type (201 words). According to the authors, the hybrid linguistic picture of the world is developing at the current stage of the Russian language and is caused by the process of the morphological adaptation of English loanwords, which is manifested in the production of hybrid words and Russian words being actively substituted by English borrowings.

Statement of the problem. The conceptual world picture of an author of a text is a key element to his/her understanding and correct interpretation. It helps to make conclusions about the author’s individual understanding of the world. The concept “way” is one of the basic concepts both in the Russian language and in the individual author’s pictures of the world, and is put on a par with such universal concepts as life, death, God, etc. The purpose of the article is to study the semantic content of the concept “way” in V.O. Pelevin’s novel “Yellow Arrow” and the ways of its lexical representation, identifying the features of the individual author’s picture of the world. Methodology (materials and methods). Research material consists of contexts verbalizing the concept “way”, extracted by continuous sampling from the text of the story “Yellow Arrow” by V.O. Pelevin. Basic analysis methods include descriptive and conceptual analysis, contextual and component analysis of lexical units, semantic analysis of dictionary definitions. Research results. In the aspect of verbal contextual representations, the concept “way” denotes a direction, a vector of development of human life in the novel: the common human route moves to the “destroyed bridge”. This idea is embodied in the lexemes of the near periphery (passengers, arrow) and the far periphery (knocking of wheels, low-style proper nouns). Not everyone can find an individual path, but the main character was able to “get off the train”.

The article investigates the peculiarities of the linguistic representation of monster image in modern Ukrainian children’s literature. The literary discourse of fear and monster image is presented. From the communicative-pragmatic point of view, the traditional, usual images of monster, in particular Babay and Chupacabra, are compared with their counterparts from the works of such popular Ukrainian writers. New images of the monster, the appearance of which was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, are characterized. The purpose of the article is to investigate the peculiarities of the linguistic representation of the image of monster in modern Ukrainian children’s literature. The following research methods were used: linguistic observation and description of language phenomena; method of decoding an artistic text, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, as well as the method of continuous sampling. It is established that in the works for children of modern Ukrainian authors the image of a fearless, good monster is gaining popularity, which testifies to the tendency to improve traditional negative images. To create «updated» images of monsters, writers use a range of language tools and stylistic devices. The individual author’s onyms for monster and occasional sign tokens are particularly expressive, which appear during the creation of these images. It is observed that the image of monster in children’s works implements a number of pragmatic functions: cognitive (acquisition and assimilation of knowledge about the world (about the world of things; about the world of human relations); developmental (enrichment of the child’s vocabulary, formation of reading skills, development of imagination, critical / creative thinking, cognitive interest, etc.); educational (formation of basic moral principles, learning patterns of behavior, etc.); entertainment (enjoyment of artistic communication). The study of the usual and occasional in the linguistic representation of fear and monster in the works for children of modern Ukrainian writers complemented the knowledge about the connection of the writer’s worldview with the works’ language and with the national linguistic picture of the world.

The article presents the results of a psycholinguistic study of the language consciousness of military specialists studying at the Yaroslavl Higher Military School of Air Defense. The study involved 100 people. These are representatives of the near and far abroad, as well as cadets from Russia. The main method used by the authors to compare the linguistic picture of the world, that is, linguistic and extralinguistic phenomena, the country of the language being studied and the country of the cadet’s homeland, was an associative experiment. This method allowed us to identify markers for the consciousness of representatives of different linguistic worldviews (the core and the periphery in a particular field of consciousness), the value picture of the world within the framework of linguistic consciousness. Within the framework of this article, the authors presented an analysis of two words-stimuli-army and officer, which will allow us to determine the psychological features of language consciousness, taking into account the country of residence, educational and professional activities and professionalization of the individual. As a result of the experiment, the commonality of ideas and reactions to the basic concepts of military-professional terminology is noted in all cadets, but the specific feature of the language consciousness formed by the native language for a long time (from 20 years or more), the culture and the structure of life of the cadet’s homeland, which determines the unique and uncharacteristic reactions for the Russian language picture of the world, is highlighted.

This article is aimed at presenting a methodology for the conceptual analysis of poetic texts based on their lexical structure using the theory of communicative stylistics. The lexical structure of the literary text is considered to be a means of aсquainting the reader with the values manifested therein. The study of values intertwined within written works is particularly significant for the development of an axiological approach to teaching the Russian language. This article proposes a method for a sequential analysis of the lexical structure of a poetic text, which can be used at Russian language lessons.

This paper presents the analysis of Russian animalistic phraseological units included in the Russian-Croatian Phraseological Dictionary (2019). In our research we focused on etalons that have the simile structure. Anthropomorphism and zoomorphism are two antipodes of the same reality within the language picture of the world – in our case it is the Russian language picture of the world. We believed that the anthropocentric perspective of the animal world was stronger than the ecocentric perspective, and that it has influenced the Russian language correspondingly, which has led us to the conclusion that there must be more Russian anthropomorphic similes than zoomomorphic similes. But the analysis that we have performed within the frames of the Russian-Croatian Phraseological Dictionary has not proven our hypothesis. The findings of this study suggest that there is an equal number of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic similes within the analyzed phraseological material.

This article is devoted to the linguoculturological competence development among schoolchildren in the process of teaching the Russian language. The object of scientific consideration was the lexeme "rainbow", which refers to the most ancient layer of words and has a deep national and cultural specificity. In accordance with the set tasks of our work, we used descriptive-analytical, stylistic, component, distributive methods of data analysis, the method of the semantic field. An integrated approach to the study of the lexeme "rainbow" implies a multifaceted analysis, including the analysis of dictionary definitions, collection of etymological information, consideration of word-formation relations, study of the paremiological status of a word, its discursive features, identification of traditional and individual author's meanings and, thus, reflection in the form of creative work of students, reflecting the information received about this lexeme... An upbringing approach in Russian language lessons helps students discover aesthetic ways of understanding the world, without which it is impossible to describe the Russian language picture of the world.

This article discusses the semantics of lexical units included in the thematic group ‘Plant World’. For a person with a traditional worldview, nature is the basis for the formation of a system of views, values, for numerous rethinking. The material for analysis in the article is provided not by a lexicographic source but by a linguo-geographical one. A collection of maps of the recently published first issue of The Plant World of the Lexical Atlas of Russian Folk Dialects allows us to make rather interesting observations. Work with the material of semantic maps makes it possible not only to establish changes in the semantics of lexical units but also to find areas that are associated with the use of a word in one or another secondary meaning. In some cases, there were created duplicate maps devoted solely to the functioning of lexical units in extended sense. Systemic analysis of maps makes it possible to identify patterns in the semantic shifts of lexemes denoting facts and phenomena of the world around as the main meaning. There have been revealed semantic shifts of lexemes from the thematic group ‘Plant World’ to the field of subject, locative and anthropomorphic registers. Such examples of the extensive use of words are not unexpected for the Russian language. It should also be emphasized that the analysis of comments and other materials accompanying maps allows us to establish the features of shifts in semantics. It has been determined that a shift to the subject and locative semantic register is mainly associated with metonymy mechanisms, while a shift to the area of the anthropomorphic semantic register – with the metaphorical transfer mechanisms. The author draws conclusions concerning both the use of map materials for analyzing the extension of semantics and the features of secondary nominations in lexemes belonging to the thematic group ‘Plant World’.
