The aim of this study was to investigate the association between exposure to electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) advertisements and use of e-cigarettes, combustible cigarettes and hookahs.A cross-sectional survey of 6902 German students (mean age 13.1 years, 51.3% male) recruited in six German states was performed. Exposure to e-cigarette advertisements was measured with self-rated contact frequency to three advertising images. Multilevel mixed-effect logistic regression models were used to assess associations between exposure to e-cigarette advertisement and use of e-cigarettes, combustible cigarettes and hookahs (ever and past 30 days).Overall, 38.8% of the students were exposed to e-cigarette advertisements; ever-use of e-cigarettes was 21.7%, of combustible cigarettes was 21.8% and of hookahs was 23.2%, and poly-use of all three products was 12.4%. Exposure to e-cigarette advertisements was positively related to ever and past 30-day use of e-cigarettes, combustible cigarettes, hookahs and combined use.We concluded that a considerable number of German teenagers are exposed to e-cigarette advertisement. There was a clear exposure–behaviour link, indicating that advertising contact was associated with different kinds of “vaping” and also smoking behaviour. Although causal interpretation is not possible due to the cross-sectional design, findings raise concerns about the current tobacco control policies.

This paper focuses on determining the influence of sales territory design on salesforce performance in the detergent manufacturing companies in Kenya. Detergents play a critical role in our everyday lives by ensuring hygiene at our personal level, in our homes, in schools, institutions, and hospitals. Detergents have gained a lot of prominence since the onset of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) disease in 2019, as it has been proved that they play an important role in curtailing the transmission of the COVID-19 disease. The Salesforce plays an important role in organizations as they are the ones who in most cases interact with customers, provide information about their organization and products, provide prices, demonstrate how products are used, train customers, provide after sales service, and resolve any issues that may arise. The study was anchored on Expectancy Theory, Resource Based Theory, Equity Theory, and Agency Theory. The study adopted positivism philosophy and used a descriptive cross sectional design. The unit of analysis was the sales people in the detergent manufacturing companies in Kenya who are members of Kenya Association of Manufacturers as per list obtained from KAM in December 2018. The study used primary data which was collected by administering semi-structured questionnaires. The data was analyzed using a combination of both descriptive and inferential statics to describe the manifestations of the variables in the data collected, simple regression model was used to test the significance of the influence of sales territory design (independent variable) on the salesforce performance (dependent variable). Fischer distribution test (F-test) was used to test the significance of the independent variable and the overall model. The p-value for the F-statistic was used to determine the robustness of the model. This was done at 95% confidence level (p<0.05). The study found a strong relationship between sales territory design and salesforce performance. This depicts that sales territory design is critical in determining salesforce performance in detergent manufacturing companies in Kenya.

Introduction: Exposure to organic dust in the agricultural industry can cause pulmonary function problems for workers. This study aims to know the determinant of pulmonary function impairment on rice mill workers in Ujung Pangkah, Gresik, East Java. Method: This study was an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional design. This study’s population were all rice mill workers in Ketapang and Glatik Villages, Ujung Pangkah, Gresik, East Java there were 25 people. The sample of this study was 16 people. The independent variable in this study was the sex, working period, smoking, and using a mask, while the dependent variable was the pulmonary function status of workers. The data respondent obtained a questionnaire, observations, and measurement of workers’ pulmonary function using a spirometer. Data analysis was performed in analytic descriptive with the Spearman correlation test. Result and Discussion: The Spearman test results are known that the working period (r = -0.022) and smoking (r = -0.160) were very weak and an inverse correlation with pulmonary function status. In comparison, the use of masks (r = 0.462) was adequate and directly correlated with pulmonary function status. Smoking and working period will describe the length of exposure to rice dust, affecting the pulmonary function status. The obedience of using masks to workers will reduce the risk of pulmonary function impairment. Conclusion: Working period, smoking, and using mask are determinants of pulmonary function impairment on rice mill workers in Ujung Pangkah, Gresik, East Java.
